★ The younger brother of deceased actor Paul Walker has landed a leading role in the “Fast & Furious” film franchise after filling in for his late sibling on the set of the 7th movie in the series. 25-year-old stuntman Cody Walker and his older brother Caleb were called on to play body doubles in Paul’s unfinished scenes, and now Cody is reportedly set to become a star in his own right. Paul Walker’s ‘Brian O’Conner’ will be retired from the franchise and Cody will apparently join the cast as a new character. The actor died in a fiery car crash in November.

★ 25-year-old Anna Todd, a first-time writer who lives in Central Texas, has sold her insanely popular One Direction fan fiction e-book series, “After”, to Simon & Schuster Gallery Books for a reported 6 figures. It’s the story of ‘Tessa Young’, an 18-year-old college student with excellent grades and a sweet boyfriend who meets a rude boy named ‘Harry’ (Styles, of course) with tattoos and piercings who upsets her perfect little life. “After” and its 2 online sequels have been read over 800 million times.

★ And 51-year-old Dina Lohan, mother of pseudo-actress Lindsay Lohan, must perform 100 hours of community service and give up her driver’s license for a year. She’s just been sentenced in NY’s Nassau County District Court after pleading guilty to the charges in April. She initially pleaded not guilty after state police pulled her over on Long Island last September for driving more than 20 mph over the speed limit. She was subsequently found to have twice the legal limit of alcohol in her bloodstream.

• Jimi Hendrix – Kathy Etchingham, the guitar legend’s girlfriend from 1966-69, says the biopic about him is ‘completely made up’. “Jimi: All Is By My Side”, which stars Andre Benjamin (Outkast’s Andre 3000), had its world premiere at Canada’s Toronto Film Festival last year and is due to screen at Australia’s Sydney Film Festival today.
• Lily Allen – Her brother Alfie Allen, who plays ‘Theon Greyjoy’ on “Game of Thrones” (HBO), has refuted his sister’s recent claim that she was asked to play his onscreen sister on the popular show. Quote: “The only thing I’m going to say on that is that it’s not true.”
• The Neighbourhood – Their single “Sweater Weather” has now sold in excess of 2 million units and reached the #1 spot on the ‘Billboard Alternative Songs’ chart. They’re getting ready to kick off a North American tour on June 21st in Vancouver BC.
• Nine Inch Nails – Trent Reznor has weighed in on Twitter to assure fans he is still part of Beats Music after the company was acquired by Apple. Quote: “I am still CCO [Chief Creative Officer] of Beats Music and looking forward to what lies ahead with Apple.”

COMING ATTRACTIONS:

• “Anti-Claus” – Filmmaker Kevin Smith begins shooting this Yuletide horror movie in September. Initially titled “Comes the Krampus”, it’s the tale of the centuries-old, devil-like creature known as the ‘Krampus’, who is infamous for eating naughty children during the season of giving. The film stars Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, and Michael Parks.
• “The Lady In the Van” – “Downton Abbey” actress Maggie Smith will star in the movie adaptation of playwright Alan Bennett’s West End stage hit, based on his own best-selling memoir about an eccentric woman who parked her broken-down van in Bennett’s London driveway and proceeded to live there … for 15 years. Filming is slated to begin in October.
• “Malificent 2” – Angelina Jolie has hinted that a sequel to her hit movie may already be in the works. The Disney live-action fairytale opened with a whopping $171 million in global box office and it’s still yet to play China (opens June 20th). While Jolie has recently spoken of her desire to act less and direct more, she has also mentioned during a press conference that she may get the chance to play ‘Maleficent’ again.
• “The Snowden Files” – Oliver Stone is reportedly set to direct a film adaptation of this account of former NSA contractor Edward Snowden’s theft of documents revealing US government surveillance programs. The film is scheduled to start shooting by the end of 2014. Glenn Greenwald’s book on the same subject, “No Place to Hide”, is also being made into a movie.
• “Stonewall” – Roland Emmerich’s upcoming film tells the story of the Stonewall riots in June 1969 after police raided the Stonewall Inn in NYC’s Greenwich Village. It became a galvanizing event for the gay rights movement. Brit actor Jeremy Irvine (“War Horse”) stars, alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers (“The Tudors”), and Ron Perlman (“Sons of Anarchy”).

ONLINE SHOPPING SAG:
News of Internet security breaches at eBay, Target, and other companies appears to be having an effect on online habits. A new survey finds 24% of online shoppers have at least temporarily stopped buying online because of security concerns. Even more surprisingly, 56% claim they’ve cut back on the number of Internet sites they use and are only going to large, well-known companies where they feel confident they are safe. The poll also shows that 55% say they’ve started checking online banking, investment, and credit card sites more often to ensure their accounts have not been breached. 64% say they’ve changed at least one password in response to the recent security issues. (Just like a strict diet, this isn’t likely to last long.)

So much for roughing it! NYC mommies with money to burn are hiring professional organizers to pack their kids’ trunks for Summer camp … because their little darlings can’t live without their 1,000-thread-count sheets. It takes 3-to-4 hours to pack for kid clients whose mothers demand all the comforts of home be fitted into camping trunks, often including delicate touches like French-milled soaps and scented candles. At $250-an-hour, the cost for a well-packed camper can run $1,000. That seems a lot, but then many are paying upwards of $10,000 per kid to attend a sleep-away camp. One organizer says some clients request a complete re-creation of children’s bedrooms so they can feel totally at ease in their air-conditioned camp bunks. (Thank goodness someone’s working on raising the self-centered and entitled rich snots of the future.)

Tips from travel pros who have amassed millions of flying miles amongst them …
✓ Pack light. You can fit all you need in a carry-on roller bag and a daypack or large purse.
✓ Roll up everything possible to save space, perhaps excepting jackets and good trousers.
✓ Bring a sealable plastic bag for dirty laundry, so it doesn’t taint other clothing.
✓ Invest in a good set of headphones.
✓ Be sure to pack international electrical converters if traveling abroad.
✓ Use dryer sheets to keep luggage smelling fresh and to deter insects and rodents.
✓ Make a list of activities and what you plan to wear for each. If it’s not on the list, don’t pack it.
✓ Stuff socks or anything particularly fragile into packed shoes.
✓ If you wear eyeglasses, always bring a second pair in case they are lost or broken.
✓ If you travel a lot, keep a sealed bag of travel-sized toiletries pre-packed and ready to go.

MARRYING FOR MONEY:
A wife bringing home the bacon isn’t the death knoll of a relationship that it has been made out to be. According to a new survey of 1,000 married couples over age 25, husbands are actually happier when on equal financial footing with their wives. In couples where the wife earns as much or more than her husband, 83% report they are either ‘happy’ or ‘very happy’ (compared to 77% where the wife earns no money or less). Couples with higher-earning wives also report the best sex lives, with 51% saying life between the sheets is ‘very good’. Men in particular say they are happy with their sex lives with high-earning women. These men also express more overall happiness. (Maybe because it relieves the pressure of being the primary breadwinner?)

HOW DADS AFFECT DAUGHTERS:
The more dad pulls his weight at home, the more ambitious his daughter will grow up to be. According to University of British Columbia research, girls who see their pops pulling their own weight on the home front, including housework, are more likely to pursue ambitious careers. Although research has often considered how women and girls are constrained by gender stereotypes, this new study reveals that a more equal divvying up of housework and childcare enables daughters to envision balancing work with family and having a less gender-stereotypic career. Bottom line: The more unpaid domestic labor dads do, the less likely their daughters are to limit their interest to female-dominated occupations like nursing, teaching, or stay-at-home parenting. (So, if you want your daughter to be a CEO … do the laundry.)
