Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Gwyneth Paltrow has been brought in to help launch British Airways’ new A-380 aircraft by appearing in a series of print ads atop the 55-story Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore. The pics were taken just a week before the 42-year-old actress allegedly caused the break-up of her ex, Chris Martin, and his new girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence. The new plane is the only commercial airliner with 2 full-length wide-body decks. Flights on the super jumbo from London to Singapore began yesterday.

★ This is no surprise: Joan Rivers’ daughter Melissa has signed up a Manhattan legal powerhouse as she plans to launch a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the endoscopy clinic where her mother fell into a coma. She’s selected one of the oldest law firms in NYC, which is said to be ‘highly selective’ about its cases. Joan Rivers died age 81 on September 4th after suffering cardiac arrest. The doctors involved in carrying out what was meant to be a routine throat procedure are also being named in the suit.

★ And Kim Kardashian tells Britain’s “Time Out” magazine she has a secret ambition … she wants to analyze murder scenes and catch the killer. The reality TV star, who’s made a fortune from clothing and makeup lines, dreams of working as a forensic investigator and has even begged lawyers for the opportunity. Quote: “I’ve literally asked attorneys to intern on a case, a big murder trial. I know I can help solve it … I’m obsessed with murders.”

She was born in Wyomissing PA and grew up in Nashville TN, but recently bought a $20-million apartment in NYC’s trendy Tribeca neighborhood. Last week she released a catchy new song called “Welcome to New York”.
COMING ATTRACTIONS:
A BS selection of movies in the making …
• “Boulevard” – Robin Williams’ final movie may never make it to the bigscreen for financial reasons. Although it scored excellent reviews at NYC’s Tribeca Film Festival this year, a lack of financial backing has put an end to plans for a cinematic release. Williams portrays a married man who struggles to come to terms with his sexuality after falling in love with a gay prostitute.
• “Florence” – Meryl Streep stars as wannabe opera singer Florence Foster Jenkins, a NYC heiress & socialite who had aspirations to be a famous soprano. She was apparently the only one who didn’t realise she had a horrible voice and was constantly ridiculed for lack of talent. Hugh Grant portrays her manager, who’s determined to protect her from the awful truth.
• “Lego Movie 2” – The same screenwriting team is being brought back to write a follow-up to this year’s animated comedy which was a huge critical and commercial success. The voice cast from the original film, which included Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, and Chris Pratt, is expected to be invited back for the sequel. It’s not due on screens until 2018.
• “The Nice Guys” – In this upcoming 1970s-set thriller, Ryan Gosling & Russell Crowe play investigators looking into the case of a missing girl. As the case unravels, it transpires that the mystery is linked to people in very important positions of power in Los Angeles. The much-anticipated new film has been given a tentative release date of June 17, 2016.
• “Suicide Squad” – 31-year-old Jesse Eisenberg is in talks to return as ‘Lex Luthor’ after portraying the villain in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” (out March 2016). The new film, directed by David Ayer, sees a group of super-villains from the comic book world recruited for dangerous missions by the government. “Suicide Squad” is expected to be out in August 2016.
CHEATERS NEVER PROSTATE:
According to a new University of Montréal study, men who sleep with multiple women reduce their risk of prostate cancer. In fact, men who have slept with more than 20 women slash their risk by 28%. Having one male partner does not increase the risk of the disease, but having sex with more than 20 men seems to double the risk. And here’s motivation for you – as if you need it – celibacy also apparently doubles the risk of the disease. Researchers say the findings add to evidence that regular intercourse may flush out cancer-causing chemicals. (“Honest, hon’. It’s for the good of my health!”)

ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG:
Rock stars really do die young. In fact, a new Australian study finds they die up to 25 years younger than average, thanks to far higher rates of death by accident, suicide, and homicide. The Sydney University study of 13,000 rock & pop stars finds the odds of accidental death for well-known music stars are 5-to10 times greater than the general population; suicide rates are between 2- and 7-times greater; and the average musician has a life expectancy about 20 years lower than average. The researchers say the study’s disturbing findings indicate the music biz needs to stop ‘valorizing’ bad behavior and destructive lifestyles as well as find ways to assist depressed musicians. (The good news … despite the so-called ’27’ club, they do live longer than that on average.)
– Telegraph.co.uk
WHY YOU’RE S.A.D.:
Researchers think they’ve identified the cause of seasonal depression (often referred to as Seasonal Affective Disorder). Scientists from Denmark’s University of Copenhagen say they think it’s due to the serotonin transporter (SERT) protein, which regulates serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a brain chemical responsible for keeping mood in check. Study volunteers with SAD have been shown to average 5% more SERT in Summer than in Winter. Less serotonin can result in depression symptoms. Study volunteers without SAD seemingly do not have different SERT levels, no matter the season. (Pharmaceutical companies are no doubt already working on more ways to profit from the glum.)

BS AMAZING HALLOWEEN FACTS:
• Halloween is thought to have originated around 4000 BC, which means Halloween has been around for over 6,000 years and is one of the oldest celebrations in the world
• Halloween celebrates the Christian holiday ‘All Hallows Eve’, but that holiday is likely rooted in the Celtic holiday ‘Samhein’ and a number of other pre-Christian harvest festivals.
• The word ‘bonfire’ has it’s roots in Halloween. Druid priests would throw the bones of cattle onto fires during Samhain to ensure the sun would return after the long Winter. Thus ‘bone fire’ eventually became ‘bonfire’.

BS PROBLEMS ABOUT HALLOWEEN ALL PARENTS WILL UNDERSTAND:
✗ Stores that start displaying Halloween stuff in August, getting your kids into a fever way too early.
✗ Trying to carve a pumpkin that looks halfway decent without cutting yourself in the process.
✗ Getting tagged in a photo from a Halloween party you went to in college and your kid seeing it.
✗ Buying a jumbo bag of candy early to give out on Halloween, then eating it all yourself and having to go buy another at the last minute.
✗ Searching in vain for the hard-to-find costume your kid says they absolutely must have.
✗ Making treats for your kid’s Halloween party at school that (fingers crossed) don’t end up in the trash.
✗ Spending an entire weekend decorating your house and yard for Halloween, only to have the result pale in comparison to your neighbors.
✗ Trying not to worry yourself sick when you let your older kids go trick-or-treating by themselves.
✗ Setting a ‘one candy per day’ rule for your kids after Halloween, then not being able to stop yourself from dipping into their stash.
