BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ The reboot of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” is on. In a YouTube video, Will Smith announced that the new series “Bel-Air” has been signed for two seasons by Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service. The video shows the Fresh Prince on a virtual call with others, including writer/director Morgan Cooper, whose viral video in 2019 inspired the new series. Cooper’s four-minute spec trailer reimagines the comedy starring Smith, which ran on NBC from 1990 to 1996, as a drama.  The original series made its TV  debut 30 years ago today.

★ When Drew Barrymore kicks off “The Drew Barrymore Show” for its inaugural episode on Monday, the actress-turned television talk show host will be joined by Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu for a “Charlie’s Angels” reunion — nearly 20 years since the blockbuster film premiered. During the premiere episode of the daytime talk show, Barrymore will also reunite with longtime friend and collaborator Adam Sandler, as well as deliver a big surprise for a deserving family of essential workers in one of the show’s signature segments known as, “Designed by Drew.”

★ “The Cosby Show” actor Geoffrey Owens is launching a new Instagram show, “Shift Happens”, two years after he was job-shamed for working at a Trader Joe’s in New Jersey. Owens, who played ‘Elvin Tibideaux’ on The Cosby Show, mentioned the incident in a clip shared on Instagram, saying: “It’s been exactly two years now since I was job-shamed on the internet and social media for taking a job at Trader Joe’s. As you might know, that whole thing didn’t go as the shamers planned.” He says that his upcoming show will be about work and working people.

★ “The Masked Singer” is doubling down. The celebrity music competition will introduce its first-ever two-headed costume this fall, the “Snow Owls.” They represent the first duet celebrity contestants in the show’s history. Will they sing Sonny & Cher’s ‘I Got You Babe’, or ‘It Takes Two’, by Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston? Are they the Olsen Twins, stars of the classic 1995 film “It Takes Two”? All great questions. The Masked Singer returns Sunday Sept. 13th on FOX.

• Billie Eilish — has teamed with Fender on a signature ukulele. The body features her signature “blohsh” logo. The slick concert-size four-stringer is selling for $299.99 and is “stage-ready”, according to a release from the manufacturer.
• Katy Perry — will give fans a behind-the-scenes look into how she juggles life as a pop star and as a new mom in a “juicy” docu-film. Perry says she’s been working the “tell-all” project since the release of her album “Witness” in 2017, and was inspired by Taylor Swift’s Netflix film “Miss Americana”.
• The Rolling Stones – opened a world exclusive flagship store in London yesterday. “RS No. 9 Carnaby” is on the iconic Carnaby Street in Soho. It was created in partnership with Bravado, Universal Music’s merchandise company, and features an exclusive new fashion label, also named “RS No. 9 Carnaby”. The store also features a glass floor decorated with many of the band’s lyrics.
• Rush — Geddy Lee has shot down rumors that he has died, after his name was trending on Twitter. He put an end to the speculation by posting: “Even I gulped when I saw I was trending on Twitter, but I asked my dogs and apparently I’m a bit boring but otherwise fine… – #GeddyLee”. His name was trending because a cut-out of him was spotted in the seats at a Toronto Blue Jays game.
• New Order — have released their first new music in five years. The uplifting synth-pop anthem ‘Be A Rebel’ was originally set to be released before the band’s tour, which has been rescheduled for 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic, but they wanted to give fans something to enjoy in the meantime.
• Brian Johnson and Dave Grohl — have teamed up for a new documentary about life on the road in two of the most iconic heavy rock bands (AC/DC & Foo Fighters). “Brian Johnson Meets Dave Grohl”, was recorded at Foo Fighter’s Studio 606 in California, and will air on Sky Arts on September 17.
• Kane Brown — When asked which artist would be a dream collaboration for him, he named Shania Twain as someone he’d like to work with in the future. Twain’s response on Twitter: “Let’s do it!”
• Brantley Gilbert – says he had a bit of trouble slowing down when it came time to quarantine. After his tour came to a halt, he “got to spend a lot of time with family and got to see my kids every day and my wife every day”, but he says he’s “programmed to run a hundred miles an hour”, so along with his family’s company, he built a “massive” man cave he calls the “Dawg House”.

GET CRACKING:
“Breakfast for dinner” is sometimes considered a treat. It’s also sometimes a “meal of last resort” for busy parents who are dealing with either a shortage of time or a shortage of groceries. But now, a doctor is saying that it’s a concept we should all be considering…for better sleep! Dr. Uma Naidoo MD, who refers to herself as a “nutritional psychiatrist” and has written the book “The is Your Brain on Food”, doesn’t suggest firing up the griddle for pancakes or smashing avocado on toast, she suggests having an omelet at night. Why? Because she says eggs are naturally chock-full of melatonin, a hormone produced naturally by the body that’s essential for sleep. And according to research, the hormone can help you fall asleep faster and longer, and it might even enhance REM sleep. Eggs also contain L-ornithine, an amino acid that has been shown to help improve sleep quality. And here’s why you should eat those eggs in the form of an omelet: Veggies like asparagus and broccoli are also rich in melatonin.
(OK, I believe the science, but I’m still not sold on having an egg as a bedtime snack…)

NOT-SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY:
Singing ‘Happy Birthday’ may be good for timing how long to wash your hands, but a new study reveals it could also spread coronavirus-infected droplets. Researchers at Lund University in Sweden studied the number of particles emitted when we sing, and their impact on the spread of COVID-19. They found that singing – particularly loud and consonant-rich singing found in songs like Happy Birthday – spreads a lot of droplets into the surrounding air. It was found that songs with a lot of consonants are particularly risky to sing, as they push more droplets. If singers wear a face mask and venues practice social distancing and implement good ventilation, then the risk from singing can be reduced.
