Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ The popular CBS sitcom “Mom” is coming to an end. The network has announced that Chuck Lorre’s comedy will end after its currently-airing 8th season. As fans mourn the impending end of their favorite series, many have been left wondering if Anna Faris may make a return in the final episodes. When Season 8 premiered in November, Faris’ exit was addressed, with her character, ‘Chrisy Plunkett’s’ storyline having left the door open for a possible future return. She would follow other actors who returned to series they had left in the final season. After leaving “That ’70s Show”, Topher Grace returned for the series finale. Steve Carell returned for “The Office”, and Angus T. Jones made an appearance during the final season of “Two and a Half Men”.

SHOOTING THE BULL
BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEARD-HOLDER?
(***CAUTION: Content***)
According to a study, that well-worn cliché of the movie-star stud with 3 days’ of stubble and a piercing stare is…absolutely correct. The survey, by OnBuy.com, asked women to list the physical attributes of men they have had the best sex with (***alt: “men they would most like to [ahem!] date”***). Coming in first was…facial hair…with 73% of women saying their best partner rocked at least a scruff. 71% of women said men with dark eyes are the best. And just in case you wondered if the “arts” are important, men sporting piercings and tattoos came in at 70% and 62%. Broad shoulders? 68%. You know the saying about big things coming in small packages? That may or may not be true. 53% of women said their best lover had small feet. At the bottom of the list were big hands (37%) and bushy eyebrows (36%).
(***CAUTION***Why is it that all I can picture is Bradley Cooper? That bastard!)
(We also have the equivalent men’s survey answers…but this is a family show…!)
(Hmm. Nothing there about reciting the periodic table? Or attending the midnight premieres of EVERY Harry Potter movie? I’m shocked. And a little disappointed because of how much time I put into those in good faith…)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A UK man “celebrated” the fact that he was driving under the limit while going past a police speed trap by sticking both his middle fingers up at the camera… and wound up with a fine for that instead. Ben Baron was driving to work as he approached a known ‘hotspot’ in Lancashire. He says he was “elated” that he wouldn’t be getting a ticket, and “carried on, giving the guy the finger…smiling and laughing”. He went on with his day, unaware that he had been sent a notice of infraction for “not being in a position to have proper control of a vehicle”. Police were kind enough to include a picture of his gestures, with his passenger laughing along. He has launched a GoFundMe to cover the fine, which could be as much as £1,000 (US$1,400). (Small price to pay for having the best Facebook cover photo…EVER!)
➢ UK Journalist Liam Thorpe was surprised to be offered a COVID-19 vaccine appointment, given that he’s healthy, and at this point, it is only being distributed to those in high-risk categories. Curious as to why, he called his doctor and discovered it was a “wee” mix-up. The doc’s records had him listed at 6.2 cm (2.4 inches) tall, rather than 6 foot 2 inches (187 centimeters), giving him a very alarming BMI of 28,000. In a series of tweets, Thorpe admitted that he has “put on a few pounds in lockdown”, but said that he declined the vaccine, figuring medical workers probably would have caught on “when a morbidly obese pancake didn’t slither in.”

DID YOU KNOW?
Cities don’t just have rising sea levels to worry about – they’re also slowly sinking under the weight of their own development, according to new research. Geophysicist Tom Parsons looked at San Francisco as a case study, and found that the city might have sunk as much as 80 millimetres (3.1 inches) as it has grown over time. Considering the Bay Area is under threat from as much as 300 mm (11.8 inches) of sea level rise by 2050, the “sinkage” is significant enough to be concerning. He feels this phenomenon should be factored into models of climate change risk.

• “Northern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day”, when you’re encouraged to go outdoors at noon and yell “Hoodie-Hoo!” at the top of your lungs to relieve Winter blahs and encourage the arrival of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, which is one month away…whether you yell “Hoodie-Hoo” or not… (***Could make an interesting on-air bit with callers***)
• “Clean Out Your Bookcases Day”, how about giving away the books that no longer interest you? By donating your old books, you could enrich the lives of others. Today, go to one of your bookcases at work or home and get organized! (BookcasES? How many do they think I have?)
• “Handcuff Day”, on this day in 1912, a patent was granted to George A. Carney, for a swinging arm type of adjustable, ratcheting handcuff. (Fun in the sheets, but not on the streets!)
