BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ James Holzhauer, best known for his 32-game winning streak on “Jeopardy!”, has slammed Mike Richards following the latter’s firing as executive producer of the game show. Holzhauer, who is one of the show’s top-3 winners ever alongside Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter, said on social media: “Do I think Mike Richards’s podcast comments were appropriate for polite society? No. But did he deserve the benefit of the doubt for the job he did running Jeopardy? Also no.” Holzhauer had previously commented that the show looked past three “obvious” candidates when it originally handed Richards the host’s role. Sony axed Richards as executive producer of “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune” a little more than a week after he was forced to step down as the new “Jeopardy!” host.

★ The Lucky Rabbit flea market in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has created a replica of the Rosebud Motel, from “Schitt’s Creek”. The “Roseburg Motel” is open to guests now until Oct. 31. Tickets are free to take photos at the 20’x20’ set within the store. Inside the Roseburg Motel, guests can sit at a vanity where ‘Moira Rose’ (Catherine O’Hara) kept her wigs, see memorabilia from Moira’s movie “The Crows Have Eyes”, find a pair of black sunglasses with white frames that were famously worn by ‘David’ (Dan Levy), let out a scream of frustration like ‘Alexis’ (Annie Murphy) and attempt to manage the chaos like ‘Johnny’ (Eugene Levy) and motel owner ‘Stevie Budd’ (Emily Hampshire).

★ One of the highlights of last year’s Chicago Bulls docuseries “The Last Dance” was Dennis Rodman’s wild trip to Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA Finals, and now that trip will be turned into a film called “48 Hours In Vegas.” Rodman’s vacation was the subject of a cliffhanger ending during episode 3 of The Last Dance. The new film will explore the wild bender that Rodman enjoyed, which, according to Michael Jordan, ended with him finding Rodman hungover while his then-girlfriend Carmen Electra hid. It will focus in particular on a budding relationship between Rodman and a skittish assistant GM during the trip.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Drake – has revealed the cover art for his new album “Certified Lover Boy” (out tomorrow), and it is causing some confusion among fans. It features a compilation of ‘Pregnant Woman’ emojis, repeated 12 times. Each has a different shirt color, and skin tones vary to represent the 5 color options available on iPhones, minus the default all-yellow character.
• Kanye West – “Donda” has beaten the Spotify record held by Olivia Rodrigo’s debut “Sour” for the most-streamed album in 24 hours. Over on Apple Music, Donda is the #1 album in 152 countries.
• ‘N Sync — Lance Bass wants to say bye, bye, bye to a season of a straight bachelor. As a “Bachelor in Paradise” guest host and lifelong Bachelor Nation fan, he says he’d love to host a full season of “The Bachelor,” but with a gay lead.
• Elton John — says it blew his mind to be namechecked by BTS. The K-Poppers mention him in ‘Permission to Dance’, with the line: “When it all seems like it’s wrong, just sing along to Elton John.” John, who has shared a video of him singing the tune on social media, says it was a real honor because he is such a fan of BTS.
• Mötley Crüe — Nikki Sixx says they originally invited David Lee Roth to share the bill with them and Def Leppard on “The Stadium Tour” but he passed, saying: “I don’t open for bands that I influenced.” The groups eventually settled on openers Poison and Joan Jett for the tour, which has been postponed to 2022.
• Kiss – Gene Simmons has now tested positive for COVID-19 less than a week after bandmate Paul Stanley revealed that he contracted the disease, forcing the postponement of 3 shows on the group’s “End Of The Road” farewell tour. Tuesday, the group announced 4 more shows will be postponed.
• Luke Bryan – ‘Waves’ is his 25th #1 song on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. He is in sixth place on the all-time list of Country Airplay chart-toppers, behind Kenny Chesney with 31, Tim McGraw’s 29, Blake Shelton’s 28, and Alan Jackson and George Strait, each with 26.
• Brantley Gilbert – his latest single ‘Gone But Not Forgotten’ honors the 13 American soldiers recently killed in Afghanistan. He posted that while it was “written a while back”, he “wanted to share it with y’all in hopes it might resonate with someone who needs to hear it right now.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/uwt5c63n
• Kane Brown – The long-time supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America has partnered with Lowe’s to open the East Lake Boys & Girls Club in his hometown of Chattanooga, TN. Brown — also a former Lowe’s employee — is working with Lowe’s through their 100 Hometowns initiative, which aims to complete 100 impact projects as part of a $10 million pledge to support communities across America.
SHOOTING THE BULL
FITNESS PROTECTION:
Everybody knows that sitting around all day — whether it’s for work or for pleasure – isn’t good for you. But just how much exercise is needed to counteract the negative health impact of a day at a desk (or on the couch)? According to a study completed last year, about 30-40 minutes of “moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity” should do it. Researchers at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences performed an analysis of 9 previous studies involving more than 44,000 people. They found the risk of death among those with a sedentary lifestyle went up as time spent engaging in moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity went down. In other words, getting involved – each day — in some reasonably intensive activities such as cycling, brisk walking, or even gardening can lower your risk of an earlier death right back down to what it would be if you weren’t doing all that sitting around.
(I don’t think these people seem to appreciate the amount of effort I put into sitting around all day!)
(But you have to remember that one person’s “moderate to vigorous physical activity is another’s “get out of bed and into the shower…”)
(I’m happy to report that I’ve just gotten started on an intensive diddly-squat program!)

BADLY-DRAWN DOG:
As a fundraiser, an Ontario Humane Society has been offering to draw your pet – terribly. Throughout August, Guelph Humane Society (west of Toronto) offered animal lovers the chance to have a one-of-a-kind portrait done of their pet…the catch being that the hand-drawn pictures are slightly below professional grade. The GHS reports that they surpassed their fundraising goals with the promotion, with orders coming in from across North America. The $20 portraits were done by humane society board members and volunteers, with a digital copy sent to pet owners in return for a $20 donation to help animals at the shelter. According to GHS Board of Director David DiMatteo (one of the “artists”), even as a child, he would never color within the lines, and still hasn’t figured out how to.”

(Considering our cat already looks like he was drawn by a drunken wrestler, I think this would probably be an improvement…)
(Sounds kinda sketchy to me . . .)
(Sounds like a good fundraising idea for [***local shelter***])

IT’S EASY BEING GREEN:
✓ The British government has announced plans to ban single-use plastic utensils in England as part of a wide-ranging Environmental Bill to tackle plastic pollution. The Bill aims to “clean up the country’s air, restore natural habitats and increase biodiversity.” One of the provisions calls for a reduction in litter and cutting of plastic waste by removing the use of single-use plastic forks, knives and spoons. On average, each person in England uses 18 single-use plastic plates and 37 single-use utensils every year. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland already have introduced plans to ban these plastics, and the European Union added a similar ban in July. (OK, but they’re going to get REALLY sick of being given used ones!)
✓ Leaded gasoline has finally reached the end of the road, now that the last country in the world has halted the sale of the highly toxic fuel. Algeria stopped providing leaded gas last month, prompting the U.N. environment office to declare the “official end” of its use in cars. Petroleum containing lead was first sold almost 100 years ago to increase engine performance. It was widely used for decades until researchers discovered it could cause heart disease, strokes and brain damage. It was banned in Canada in 1990, and in the US in 1996. (So, Algeria may now be “unleaded”, but they certainly aren’t a “liter”.)

China has barred online gamers under the age of 18 from playing on weekdays. Starting this week, minors will be allowed just 3 hours of video game time on weekends, plus some time on Friday evenings and on public holidays. Authorities say the restrictions were put in place to help prevent young people from becoming addicted to video games, and to protect “the healthy growth of minors”.
