Ahhh, Some BS to Look Forward to In the Morning!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Dog the Bounty Hunter, who was running his own search operation to find Brian Laundrie for the past week, is now headed back to Colorado after injuring an ankle. He had put together a team to look for Laundrie, who has been missing for almost a month and is the only person of interest in the Gabby Petito homicide case. News anchor Josh Benson wrote on Twitter: “Just got an update from Dog the Bounty Hunter’s team. They say he’s headed back to Colorado soon to meet with his doctor after injuring his ankle in the search. He’s also raising funds to continue what he calls an ‘expensive search’.”

★ “No Time to Die,” the latest installment in the James Bond franchise, debuted to $56 million from 4,407 theaters at the domestic box office, falling somewhat short of expectations and signaling even one of the most storied brands in film history is still forced to contend with a moviegoing landscape that has been dramatically altered by the pandemic. For some movies, especially during a public health crisis, an opening weekend of $56 million would be cause for celebration. But “No Time to Die” is no ordinary film. It carries a massive $250 million production budget, to say nothing of the more than $100 million spent on marketing.

★ Get set for “That 70s Show” . . . 20 years later. Netflix has picked up “That ’90s Show,” a 70s Show sequel series, starring Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp. Smith and Rupp, who played Eric Foreman’s parents on the original series, will executive produce as well. Here’s the logline: “Hello, Wisconsin! It’s 1995 and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon), is visiting her grandparents for the summer where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes.” That ’70s Show ran for 200 episodes from 1998 to 2006.

★ Joaquin Phoenix says he’d be open to making a follow up to his 2019 movie “Joker”, which showed a possible origin story for the infamous DC villain, a performance that landed Phoenix a Best Actor Oscar. He said: “There are some things we could do with this guy and could [explore] further. But as to whether we actually will? I don’t know”. Rumors have been making rounds online regarding a Joker sequel since the original was released.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Adele – Saturday on Instagram, she shared a sneak preview of the new song ‘Easy on Me’, from her forthcoming album. She has yet to formally reveal the details for her 4th LP, but many speculate that the title is “30”, after her age when she wrote much of the music. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/765nbv4s
• Demi Lovato — is honoring their late friend with an emotional new song. On Saturday, she shared ‘Unforgettable (Tommy’s Song)’, dedicated to model Thomas Trussell III, who died in 2019 after battling drug addiction. Lovato, who has been open about her own struggles with substance abuse, is donating proceeds to The Voices Project, a nonprofit recovery advocacy organization. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/rr4nnejy
• Madonna — To coincide with the release of the film documenting her 2019/2020 world tour, she has announced Madame X merchandise. The range of hoodies, t-shirts, and jogging shorts emblazoned with the image of her ‘X’ eyepatch-wearing alter ego is priced from $30-$75 at Madonna.com.
• Dave Grohl – says he “cried like a baby” when he heard ABBA’s comeback song ‘I Still Have Faith in You’. On Nov. 5, ABBA will release “Voyage”, their first new album in 40 years. When asked if he would play drums for them, he said: “I will get up and play drums at the opening of an envelope. Show me a drum set and I will sit down to it. So yes, I would play with ABBA”.
• The Beatles – Paul McCartney told BBC in an interview to be aired this month that, contrary to popular belief, it was John Lennon, not him, who broke up the group. Quote: “I am not the person who instigated the split. Oh no, no, no. John walked into a room one day and said ‘I am leaving the Beatles.’”
• Alice Cooper — announced last week that his trio of hot sauces is now available for purchase nationwide on Amazon. Unveiled last fall, the hot sauces are named after famous Cooper songs: ‘Welcome to My Nightmare’ (mild), ‘No More Mr. Nice Guy’ (medium)” and ‘Poison’ (hot).
• Florida Georgia Line – Brian Kelley is hosting an online campaign, via the Protégé app, asking artists to create and submit a 60-second demo to become his next protégé. The app describes itself as a platform that allows anyone in the world to apply to the top experts in every field.
• Rascal Flatts — Gary LeVox is sharing new info about why the group called it quits. When they originally announced the decision to break up, they planned a final tour, but the pandemic changed that, and the dates were never rescheduled. Quote: “I’ve never been okay with the way that it ended. I wasn’t happy that Joe Don (Rooney) quit. I hate the way it ended.”
• Reba McEntire – Her new 3-disc set “Revived Remixed Revisited” dropped on Friday. It’s a collection of new versions of her biggest hits, including ‘Does He Love You’, recorded as a duet with Dolly Parton. Believe it or not, it’s the first time the 2 icons have ever worked together. LINK: https://youtu.be/zW7NzdtyG1s
SHOOTING THE BULL
RE-TIRED:
Coming soon to a tire dealer near you: Airless tires. Several tiremakers have been developing airless tires recently, but now, Michelin claims it will have them on the market by 2024. The airless Michelin Uptis, or ‘Unique Puncture-proof Tire System’ tires are made of glass fiber reinforced plastic vanes which support the tread rather than air pressure. Yup, that means you can see through them. What are the advantages? Nails become minor annoyances, and sidewall cuts that make a tire unrepairable are no longer possible. There is no need to check tire inflation. And say goodbye to spare tires and jacks. Blowouts that cause thousands of crashes a year could become a thing of the past. And they’re better for the environment, because fewer would need to be scrapped due to lack of blowouts. PICS: https://michelinmedia.com/michelin-uptis/
(My tires have been trying to become “airless” for years…)
(We’ve had those forever back home. ‘Cept we call ‘em “wagon wheels”!)
(They make a poor tree swing, though!)

FOR RICHER, NOT POORER:
A new report says that not only is the number of single adults on the rise, they make less money than partnered people the same age. The research, conducted on American adults ages 25-54, found that single men earned a median of $21,400 less than their partnered counterparts, and single women made a median of $8,000 less than theirs. “Single” was defined as a person who is unmarried and not living with a partner. The study, an evaluation of census data from Pew Research Center, also determined that on average, partnered people are more likely to have bachelor’s degrees and be employed than singles.
(Don’t worry, single people…we’re still jealous!)
(As soon as I told my wife about this, she told me to take it to my boss and ask for my $21,000 raise!)
(Of all the rules out there, why does THIS have to be the one that I’m the exception to?)

WEEK ARGUMENT:
If someone told you that they have plans “next weekend,” does that mean this COMING weekend, or the weekend after? According to a survey, people don’t really agree on what “next weekend” means, especially in the first few days of the week. People were asked whether they’d say “this weekend” or “next weekend” if they were talking about the coming weekend on a Monday or Tuesday. Only 40% said it’s “this weekend”, while 56% said “next weekend” 4% weren’t sure. Younger people were more likely to say “this weekend” and people over 50 were more likely to say “next weekend.” One thing we DO agree on? Only 7% refer to this past weekend as “this” weekend. 91% say that’s already “last” weekend.
(The way I feel most Mondays, it very well could have been my “last weekend”!)
(‘This weekend’, ‘next weekend’…it doesn’t matter. Girls always seem to have “other plans” anyway…)
(Up next – Is dinner the meal you have at noon or at suppertime?)

TRICK OR TREAT TRICKS:
Some tips to keep Halloween COVID-safe…
• Stay home if you have symptoms, even if they are mild.
• Be creative and build a face covering into your costume. Remember that a costume mask is not a substitute for a face covering.
• Trick-or-treat outdoors as much as possible.
• Do not crowd doorsteps – take turns one at a time.
• Do not sing or shout for your treats.
• Keep interactions brief with those giving out treats.
• Use hand sanitizer often, especially before and after handling your face covering, after touching frequently touched surfaces, and before and after handling or eating treats.
• There is no need to clean or disinfect pre-packaged treats. (And Dads should always “check” peanut butter cups — for safety, of course…)
IF YOU’RE HANDING OUT TREATS:
• Do not participate if you have symptoms, even if they are mild.
• Keep interactions with trick-or-treaters short and encourage them to move along after receiving their treat.
• Consider wearing a face covering when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
• Give out only purchased and packaged treats.
• Do not ask trick-or-treaters to sing or shout for their treats.
• Clean your hands often throughout the evening, using soap and water or hand sanitizer.
