BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Sean “Diddy” Combs has muted the comments sections of his X and Instagram accounts following the law enforcement raids on both his Los Angeles and Florida homes. In an Instagram post that marked his return to the platform, Combs posted photos of his 1-year-old daughter, Love, dressed in a floral dress and pink coat with a matching floral bag, and wrote: “HAPPY EASTER from Baby Love”. Diddy’s attorney called the raids a “witch hunt.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3fv6yxvu

★ Barbra Rush, the prolific actress best known for roles in 1953’s “It Came From Outer Space” and long runs on TV shows “Peyton Place” and “All My Children”, has died at age 97. In her nearly 60-year career, she worked on the big screen with Paul Newman (3 times), Kirk Douglas, Rock Hudson, Dean Martin, Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra and Richard Burton. Rush appeared in every episode of the NBC’s soap “Flamingo Road” in the 1980s, and appeared in “The Love Boat”, “Knight Rider”, “Fantasy Island”, “Magnum P.I.”, and “Murder, She Wrote”.

★ Kate Beckinsale has been in hospital for nearly a month, but she’s still not saying why. She spent Easter there, and posted a pic of herself from the knees down, celebrating the holiday from her hospital bed, wearing black pajamas with white bunny socks. She captioned her Instagram snap: “Happy Easter”. While Beckinsale didn’t provide further context, fans and celebrities swarmed to the comments to check in on her. Gwen Stefani wrote: “What’s wrong!!”, along with the praying hands emoji, while Rebel Wilson’s fiancée Ramona Afruma wrote: “Get well darling.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/whm3vxe5

★ “Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney has shut down reports that she’ll star in an upcoming supernatural thriller opposite Johnny Depp. The story originated from film critic Jeff Sneider, who wrote in his newsletter “The InSneider” that Sweeney and Depp would appear in director Marc Webb’s movie “Day Drinker”. But she responded in a tweet, writing: “Woke up to rumors. Anyways go see @ImmaculateMovie in theaters this weekend!” a reference to her latest film. A rep for Sweeney confirmed that she is not involved in Day Drinker, even though the story was, at last check, still up on Sneider’s website and X account. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/9hc2mfcu

★ Now, Courteney Cox may be heading back to the “Scream” franchise. Sources say she’s in talks to reprise her role as ‘Gale Weathers’ in the 7th movie of the slasher series, to be directed by “Scream” creator and writer Kevin Williamson. The news comes about 2 weeks after Neve Campbell announced she is returning as ‘Sidney Prescott’ after sitting out of “Scream 6” due to a salary dispute.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Beyoncé – “Cowboy Carter” is the most-streamed album in a single day so far this year. After being released on Friday, it quickly became the hottest album on Spotify, debuting with 76.13 million streams on its first day. That makes it the biggest debut of 2024 by nearly 30%. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3rpr4u9n
• Halsey – says their new album is a “confession.” In a post on Tumblr (of all things…) they wrote that they have been holding a secret in for a while and the new music is both their “confession” and “plea for kindness.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5j79m2pj
• Mick Jagger – posted video on Instagram of his 80-year-old self dancing along to a song that he inspired — Maroon 5’s ‘Moves Like Jagger’. The clip shows Jagger out in public when a band began to play the 2011 hit. His caption: “Moves like who(?)” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2f5pa95r
• Paul McCartney — An English woman got a 6-figure reward as a thank-you for reuniting McCartney with his favorite bass guitar. Cathy Guest found his Höfner 500/1 bass, worth about $12.6million, in her attic earlier this year. Her late husband had become the latest in a series of people to have owned the instrument since its theft in 1972. It had been used to record a bunch of The Beatles’ classic songs.
• Marvin Gaye — More than 60 “spine-tingling” lost songs by him have been uncovered in Belgium. The recordings were stored on 30 tapes for 42 years at a home where Gaye once stayed with musician Charles Dumolin. Dumolin’s lawyer said the tapes contain at least 66 demos of new material, some “as good as ‘Sexual Healing’.
• Dylan Scott – has dropped “Livin’ My Best Life (Still)”, the deluxe edition of his latest album. The 26-song collection includes 5 unreleased tunes, plus the previously released ‘This Town’s Been Too Good To Us’, ‘I’ll Be A Bartender’ and ‘Boys Back Home’, which is Scott and Dylan Marlowe‘s joint single. Scott will join Cole Swindell on his “Win the Night Tour”, beginning May 16 in London, Ontario.
• Scotty McCreery – On Good Friday, he released the single ‘Red Letter Blueprint’, from the upcoming album “Rise and Fall”, out May 10. Scotty quote: “This new album was influenced by the rises and falls in my life through the years…I’ve featured songs about my wife and my son, but I also wanted to share a song about my faith.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bdzztc7z
• Mickey Guyton – After dropping her highly anticipated country album “Cowboy Carter,” Beyoncé paid tribute to Guyton by sending her a bouquet of flowers and this sweet message: “Thank you for opening doors for me queen. Keep Shining. Love and respect, Beyoncé.” In 2021, Guyton became the first Black artist to earn a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3ucjkf4z
SHOOTING THE BULL
AN EXERCISE EXERCISE:
It’s too late for me (and probably you) to do anything about it, but this is great encouragement to make sure your kids get lots of exercise. Researchers in Sweden have determined that having an active childhood could save your life 40 years later. A team from Linköping University decided to investigate how fit middle-aged men were — back when they were kids, and any connection to their heart health today. And sure enough, in delving into the health data of over 9,000 people since the 1970s, they found that men who were in shape as adolescents showed a much lower risk of atherosclerosis close to 40 years later. Atherosclerosis is the thickening of arteries, usually due to the buildup of plaque. Not a good thing, obviously. The researchers say their study shows that physical fitness is linked to health outcomes much later in life. And the findings are worrying because there is a clear global trend showing that young people are less fit today, they were in the 1970s and 80s.
(Well, maybe if they didn’t make couches so comfortable these days…!)
(Judging by the results of this study, there’s no sense in my starting an exercise routine now – I’d probably have a heart attack!)

ABSURD WORDS:
At first, I thought I was just turning into a grumpy old dude. So, you can imagine how relieved I was when I saw THIS. Song lyrics are getting dumber over time, according to a new study. A team of researchers from Europe went over the words to roughly 12,000 songs across a variety of genres from rap to rock to R&B, written between 1980-2020. They determined that, exactly as your anyone over the age of about 40 has been telling you, the words to songs have become simpler, more repetitive, angrier, and more self-obsessed over time. The University of Innsbruck researchers declined to name and shame any newer artists, but pointed out how song lyrics can be a “mirror of society,” reflecting people’s shifting values. They also pointed out that rap music has become even “more angry” than other genres of music.
(…but not near as angry as I am when I hear someone blasting it out of a Honda Civic from 3 blocks away!)
(Actually, now that I think about it, even though they’re right, lyrics ARE getting dumber … I’ve gotta admit…I’m still turning into a grumpy old dude!)

DENTAL EXAM:
Of all the tasks and chores that we “must” look after as part of our routine, which one does the average person forget to do a total of FIVE times each week? Brushing our teeth. I’ll pause in order to let you say “Ewwwww”. OK? Now I’ll continue. A survey of 2,000 adults in the US also found that it’s not only the toothbrush that’s being forgotten. It seems we tend to skip using floss and mouthwash about 4 days each week. And despite the fact that we tend to forget sometimes, 92% of survey respondents agreed that their oral care routine is important to their overall health. The survey, conducted by OnePoll, also found a few unusual ways that they’ve witnessed people “caring for their teeth”. Those included “using a washcloth to clean their teeth,” and “using fishing line to floss.”
(Fishing line? Why? Because dental floss is so darn expensive?)
(Forgetting to brush 5 times per week sounds like a lot. My kids, for example, usually only forget twice: Once from Monday-Friday, and once from Saturday to Sunday!)

THE BEST TV DRAMAS (THAT YOU SHOULD WATCH RIGHT NOW):
According to a consultation with 10 expert TV websites…
1. “The Sopranos” (1999-2007): It felt cinematic, complex, and engrossing in a way very few – if any – other TV shows had ever managed.
2. “Breaking Bad” (2008-2013): The blistering journey of Walter White and his sidekick Jesse Pinkman delivers tension, explosive drama, comedy, and its fair share of emotional moments. (Plus, tighty-whities!)
3. “The Wire” (2002-2008): A raw, gritty series which offers an unflinching look at the drug trade and its impact on urban America.
4. “Mad Men” (2007-2015): It provided viewers with enough indelible images and fascinating characters to populate entire novels. Haunting and often very funny.
5. “Game of Thrones” (2011-2019): The show that inspired an entire generation of babies to be named “Khaleesi”, this historical fantasy series truly had it all. From dragons and ice demons to sinister monarchs and brave warriors, it brought the books of George R. R. Martin to life in spectacular fashion.

DID YOU KNOW?
Shortly before the 2024 Major League Baseball season got underway last week, the Miami Marlins released a list of the musical instruments allowed in the team’s ballpark, LoanDepot Park, this season. Fans are permitted to bring along tambourines, congas, trumpets, and some—but not all—types of cowbells. The team’s guidelines specify that the cowbell percussion instrument is OK, but “additional cowbell styles may be denied entry.” (Oh. Good news, Bessie! You can have your “necklace” back!)

BULL’S BITS
BS WHACK FACTS:
✓ The first bathroom stall is usually the cleanest because most people, seeking privacy, skip it.

✓ Inside your belly button, there are thousands of bacteria that form an ecosystem as complex as a rainforest.
✓ In the first year of their life, puppies grow 10 times faster than human infants do.
✓ According to Guinness, the heaviest dog on record was a St. Bernard named Benedictine, who weighed 162 kilograms (357 pounds).
