★ Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, are putting divorce rumors to rest. The rapper and the Australian architect were seen shopping together at a Tokyo mall Tuesday, a day after TMZ reported that they had split. The couple appeared affectionate as they were  photographed while walking around the shopping center. At one point, Cendori put her hands around her husband’s face as they took the escalator. She also had her arm wrapped around his as they walked into a store. The pair, who tied the knot in December 2022, matched in all-white outfits.

★ UK broadcaster Channel 4 has booked Stormy Daniels and Boris Johnson to appear as guests on its live US election night coverage. Daniels, the adult film actress at the heart of Donald Trump’s hush-money trial, and ex-UK Prime Minister Johnson, will be live in Washington alongside former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. “Succession” star Brian Cox and Caitlyn Jenner have also been booked for Channel 4’s “America Decides: US Election Results”. The show will be anchored by Emily Maitlis and Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

★ After a disappointing opening weekend at the box office, Warner Bros. Pictures executive Jeff Goldstein has admitted that “Joker: Folie à Deux” “didn’t land” well with audiences. The DC Comics thriller only pulled in $114.8 million globally in its debut weekend – around $130 million less than its predecessor “Joker” opened to in 2019 – and the studio chief has admitted he is disappointed with the poor performance of Todd Phillips’ sequel. Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Goldstein said: “The movie didn’t land with audiences the way we wanted it to.” The film had a production budget of around $200 million – roughly 3 times the original — and that’s before for marketing and advertising.

★ Nearly 30 years after “Bad Boys” hit theaters, Will Smith and Michael Bay are eyeing a reunion. Bay is in negotiations to direct the action flick “Fast and Loose” for Netflix, with Smith set to star. Fast and Loose follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he’s been living 2 lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent. Bay and Smith first teamed up for 1995’s “Bad Boys,” which was Bay’s directorial debut. It spawned 3 sequels: “Bad Boys II,” “Bad Boys for Life” and “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.”

★ Monty Python’s Eric Idle says he “shouldn’t be alive” and enjoys “every moment” of his life, 5 years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The 81-year-old comedian underwent surgery after he was diagnosed in 2019, and says he is thankful the disease was caught early. Asked if having cancer had changed him, he told The Times newspaper: “Oh, I shouldn’t be alive. I’m a lucky (you know what) and I enjoy every moment.”

Billboards have been popping “Brat” style, with the names of artists backward, to tease who will be featured on this “completely different” version of Brat. • Taylor Swift – has overtaken Rihanna to become the richest female musician in the world. According to Forbes’ Richest Musicians list, Swift is now worth $1.6 billion, compared to Rihanna’s $1.4 billion. Swift is second on the list, only to Jay-Z, whose net worth is pegged at $2.5 billion.

• Bon Jovi — have announced a new book to celebrate their 40th anniversary. “Bon Jovi Forever” will be an official signed and numbered limited edition book and box-set that includes an exclusive 7″ vinyl record. • Creed – Singer Scott Stapp will perform at the Grand Ole Opry on October 23. It’ll be his first time inside the circle (of course…) and the first live performance of his duet ‘If These Walls Could Talk’ featuring rock queen Dorothy.
• Luke Combs and Eric Church – will headline “Concert for Carolina,” a benefit show for Hurricane Helene victims. They will co-headline with Billy Strings and James Taylor at the event, set for Oct. 26 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte NC. Combs, Church and Taylor all grew up in North Carolina. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.
• Jelly Roll – wrote a lot of songs for his new album. “Beautifully Broken” drops this Friday, and he had this to say about the project: “There’s a lot of storytelling on this album. I wrote a probably hundred and some songs last year, maybe 150 plus, trying to figure this album out.” (Stay tuned for a ‘deluxe version’ in a few months…)
• Luke Bryan – “Bryan’s Farm Tour” wrapped late last month, and opening act Tucker Wetmore told how Bryan saved the day when a storm cancelled one show, and about 100 buses and trucks were stuck in the mud. Quote: “Luke hops in the tractor, one of these big…tractors, dude…and Luke’s got this big ol’ cigar in his mouth. He’s got his arm on the headrest, and he’s looking behind him, backing out and pulling this 18-wheeler out.”

SHOOTING THE BULL

PHONE BRAKES:
There has definitely been a movement lately to keep mobile phones out of classrooms, in hopes of avoiding the distractions that come with having access to social media, messaging, and the like. But according to a new study, there might be another way to let the teachers teach, without students having to leave their phones at the door or in a backpack – and that is allowing for one-minute “phone breaks” during class. In a study carried out among college students, those who were permitted to use their phones for very brief periods of time saw more classroom focus, less overall phone use, and higher test scores. The study also found that when granted unrestricted access to their phones during class, students used their phones for non-academic purposes as often as 10 times per day.
(10 times a day? My kids use their phones that many times on the way to school!)

THE UPPER LIMITS:
If you’re hoping that science might some day allow us all to live for 150 years or more, I’ve got bad news: Humanity may already be at the upper limit of life expectancy, according to new research. Even though we often hear of exciting advances in medical technology and genetic research – and often see reports of people living way beyond 100 years, a University of Illinois-Chicago study found that these success stories are not translating into marked jumps in lifespan overall. They actually discovered that among some countries with the longest-living populations (Australia, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain and Switzerland), people these days aren’t sticking around as long as they once did. The researchers surmised that there is a biological limit to how long most people live, and we’re about to hit it, as science is able to squeeze “less and less life out of life-extending technologies.”
(On the plus side, this information fits in really nicely with my retirement savings!)

SCARY SURVEY:
Horror movies: They’re definitely a “love ‘em or hate ‘em” type of thing. And according to research, it all depends on whether you started watching them as a kid. A survey of 2,000 adults in the US who celebrate Halloween found that more than two-thirds (68%) of us enjoyed horror movies as a child, and that number still holds strong at 73% today. 65% said they saw their first horror movie before they were 11 years old – and 60% agree that watching your first scary movie at a slumber party is a ‘right of passage’. Respondents said they plan to watch an average of 5 scary movies this Halloween season. And almost one-third (29%) said that horror is their favorite genre, no matter the season.
(I watched horror movies as a kid – and I’d still enjoy them if they didn’t keep making the same ones over and over again!)

A British man who developed an interest in drone shows while undergoing treatment for cancer broke the Guinness World Record for the most emojis formed by drones in 3 minutes. Christopher Bradbury says he started flying model aircraft while undergoing chemotherapy to get himself out of the house, and for the sake of his mental health. Eventually, drones became his “entire life”, and he now does aerial work for TV and film, as well as survey work. He was awarded a Guinness World Record for programming 109 drones to form the images of emojis including eggplant, rocket, magnet and various faces in the sky, totaling 30 images in 3 minutes, thus breaking the previous record of 24.
