BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Netflix has delayed the debut of a talent show featuring Liam Payne. Payne finished filming on “Building The Band” for the streamer just months before his tragic passing on Oct. 16. Britain’s The Sun newspaper quotes a source as saying the launch of the series has “definitely not been shelved”, but has been paused until the time is right to speak to his family about when it could be released. On the show, Payne served as a mentor alongside Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, and Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland, overseeing 50 wannabe stars competing for the chance to be in a band.
-ContactMusic
★ The Golden Bachelorette herself, Joan Vassos, has responded to Martha Stewart’s dig that she’d never do the series because “the guys aren’t hot enough.” On “Access Hollywood”, Vassos said: “I had a great group of guys. She doesn’t know them like i know them.” She continued, saying: “Maybe you have to be in person but they were special guys. I feel like everybody’s falling in love with them! What is wrong with you, Martha? “Stewart made her comments on “Watch What Happens Live”. When Andy Cohen asked if she’d ever consider doing the show, she replied with a resounding “absolutely not.” When Cohen asked, “million dollars an episode?” Stewart simply shook her head.
-EW
★ “Venom: The Last Dance” isn’t shaping up to be a “Joker: Folie a Deux”-like disaster, but it did fall well short of its predecessors, with an estimated $52 million domestic opening weekend. That’s short of the $65 million pre-release projections for the Marvel antihero film, and well short of the $80 million first weekend of the first “Venom” in 2018. Also opening over the weekend was “Conclave,” which nabbed an estimated $6.5 million, meeting pre-release projections.
-TheWrap
★ “Spider-Man 4”, starring Tom Holland, will be hitting theaters in 2026. Variety reports that “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton is on board to direct the so-far untitled Spidey film, and it’ll be released July 24, 2026. That means Spider-Man 4 will premiere 2 months after “Avengers: Doomsday”. This is similar to the way “Spider-Man: Far From Home” was released 2 months after “Avengers: Endgame”. Tom Holland is set to return as ‘Peter Parker’, following the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021, when he came face-to-face (to face) with Multiverse variants of himself played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
-DigitalSpy
★ Kate Winslet is addressing the often-debated “Titanic” door scene — which, it turns out, may not be a “door” scene after all. Speaking on an Australian talk show, Winslet said that the door featured in the iconic scene was actually another piece of the set. When asked if there was “room on the door” for co-star Leonardo DiCaprio — whose character ‘Jack Dawson’ held onto the piece of floating wood after the ship sank — Winslet, who played ‘Rose’, said this: “What I will say that’s really interesting is people keep referring to it as a door. It actually wasn’t even a door. It’s a piece of banister, like stairway or something, that had broken off.” She continued, saying: “Who knows if [DiCaprio] could’ve [fit] on there or not.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Lady Gaga – Friday, she dropped ‘Disease’, the first single from her upcoming 7th album, expected in February. But according to reports, her expected 2025 tour has been pushed back to 2026, because so many other artists, like Beyoncé, Oasis, Coldplay, Dua Lipa and Springsteen, are booked in huge venues next year. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/mvb5pjrk
• Rihanna – wants to collaborate with Billie Eilish. In an interview for Access Hollywood at a launch event for her new Fenty x Puma collection, RiRi was asked who her dream musical collaborator is. Quote: “If I could only do a song with Billie Eilish. She’s so good.” Rihanna hasn’t released a new album since 2016.
• The Black Keys – Just in time for Halloween, they have released a spooky collab with Alice Cooper called ‘Stay in Your Grave’. The song’s video features a live performance, intercut with classic horror film footage. It is the second single from the upcoming, expanded ‘Trophy Edition’ of the Keys’ album “Ohio Players”. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/ybnnpcmy
• Blondie – plans to release a new album in 2025. Guitarist and co-founder Chris Stein broke the news on Instagram, sharing a black-and-white photo of Debbie Harry in the studio, and writing: “New Blondie album next year.” It’ll be their first new record since “Pollinator” in 2017. • Grateful Dead — bassist and founding member Phil Lesh has died at 84. The news was announced on his Instagram, saying he died “peacefully” on Friday morning. The sad news came just after it was announced the band will be honored as 2025 MusiCares Persons of the Year ahead of 67th Grammy Awards on Feb. 2.
• Kelsea Ballerini – Friday, she dropped her new album “Patterns”. And in an interview, she revealed her nickname for Shania Twain, with whom she has worked in the past. Quote: “Anytime I can see Queen Eilleen, I do. I just love her.”
• Alana Springsteen – had to cancel 3 shows over the weekend after a bus fire destroyed her gear and personal belongings. She dates scheduled in Texas for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, including 2 with Tyler Hubbard. She posted: “I’m beyond grateful to God that everyone on our team and crew is safe and unharmed.”
• Dolly Parton — is the 2024 recipient of the PEACE Through Music Award, honoring her role in cross-cultural exchanges, and work to advance peace and mutual understanding. The award, presented by the Recording Academy and the U.S. Department of State, was presented Friday at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.

SHOOTING THE BULL

FIXIN’ FOR ALL THE FIXINS:
The latest Thanksgiving trend in the US just might be the pre-cooked feast. Warehouse store Sam’s Club has entered the market, announcing that it is selling its “Member’s Mark Thanksgiving Meal”, which feeds up to 10 people, for under $100. The deal features a whole hickory-smoked turkey, dinner rolls, a tray of mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, sweet potato mash, a cranberry crunch salad, and a pumpkin pie. Competitor Aldi is selling its lowest-priced Thanksgiving package-deal meal in 5 years, a meal for 10 priced at $47, and Walmart, which owns Sam’s Club, is selling one that serves 8 people for less than 7 bucks each. But Sam’s Club might have the market cornered this year, because it is also offering to deliver the meal fully pre-cooked, and ready to be heated up and served in under 2 hours.
(Just 2 hours? That barely gives crazy Uncle Jerry time to get loaded and embarrass himself! Ah, who am I kidding? He’ll manage…)
(They SAY it’ll feed 10 people, but obviously, Sam doesn’t know my family!)

A GAME FOR NON-GAMERS:
Does anyone “Wordle” anymore? Well, no matter, because its successor may have just been unleashed. Netflix has partnered with TED Talks for a new game called “TED Tumblewords”. The daily word-puzzle mobile game will launch on Nov. 19. The free game, played on your smartphone, lets you play against friends, strangers or the “TED Bot”, which sounds like a horrifying Halloween movie villain. In its announcement last week, the company said: “TEDplayers will slide rows of scrambled letters on a grid to create words, aiming for the longest possibilities while earning points and building word chains.” As they progress, players will be able to collect “fascinating facts that enrich understanding of various TED Topics”. Ted Tumblewords is available for pre-registration now on Android and iOS. It is the latest of about 100 mobile games offered by Netflix.
(100 games? Great. Now you can spend all day choosing which game to play, just like you do picking a movie!)
(Gee, I hope, just like Wordle, there’s a way to post your game results on social media, he said sarcastically…!)

NEW GOOD NEWS:
➢ An unknown gift-giver is helping residents of Chatham, Kent, England with their energy bills. The generous stranger has been dropping Christmas cards in peoples’ mailboxes, and including cash and a note, specifying the “fiver” is to go toward the rising cost of electricity. One local resident, who said she spotted the mystery gift-giver, said he “had a little stack of cards and he was going round and popping them all in the letterboxes.” She had never seen him before, which is even more odd in the small community, where “everybody knows everybody.”
➢ An Irish man with Down’s Syndrome has been given a fond farewell after working at a McDonald’s for 25 years. 52-year-old Philip Waring enjoyed a send-off from his friends and colleagues as he retired from his job, where he had been helping keep the place spick and span since 1999. At the party, which was also attended by social workers, and some of Philip’s family members, he said: “I really loved my job and I liked to clean and keep things tidy and over the years the staff there became my friends and I’m sad to be leaving.”

THE BEST HALLOWEEN CANDY:
This is according to a survey of “expert” websites. But as any parent will tell you, the REAL experts are the little ghosts and goblins and Taylor Swifts who will be running amuck throughout the neighborhood on Thursday night…
1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups: Thrillist wrote: “Not only is it the greatest candy out there, it’s also one of the greatest snacks, period, the perfect alchemy of peanut butter and chocolate.” (Like there was any doubt?)
2. Snickers: Snickers Bars came in a close second. The Kitchen knows why, writing: “Why don’t we talk more about just how good nougat is?” Plus, “Snickers kicks it up a few notches with peanuts, caramel, and a chocolate coating.” (The only problem with getting a Snickers on Halloween is the size of ‘em!)
3. Twix: LA Times said: “Caramel, cookies and chocolate are an unbeatable combination any way you slice it.” Thrillist agreed, writing: The ratios between the 3 main components are simply perfect, striking a balance that makes the intense sugar rush completely worth it.” (Silly wabbit, Twix AREN’T just for kids!)
4. M&M’s: It’s been scientifically proven that on Halloween night, people favor original M&M candy over other, similar-looking treats, with the chocolate pack winning 76.1% of the time. (Plus, we have to give M&M’s credit for never coming out with a “raisin” version…!)
5. Starburst: According to Thrillist: “Starbursts come in so many flavors, the permutations among flavor combinations are almost endless…Pink Starbursts are the best, but…the other flavors aren’t too far off.” (What would YOU add to the list – to replace Starburst, obviously?)

DID YOU KNOW?
These days, more straight people are referring to their significant other as “partner”. It’s a term commonly used by those in the LGBTQ2S+ community to describe their relationship to others. Dr. Patricia S. Dixon, a psychologist and professor at National Louis University in Florida, said it is becoming more normalized among Millennials and Gen Zers to say ‘partner’ when referring to one’s mate, as a show of support for inclusivity and to normalize the growing number of non-traditional relationships. (And yet here I am, with my wife still calling me “Pookie-Wookie”!)

BS CHRONOMETER 10.28.24

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “International Animation Day”, first proclaimed in 2002 to celebrate the art of animation. (So, if you know an animator, send a .gif!)
• “Plush Animal Lover’s Day”, a day to celebrate your stuffed animal collection. ‘Plush’ sounds so much more humane, no?
• “Wild Foods Day”, a celebration of wild plants, fruits, and vegetables. Wild foods are free of preservatives and pesticides, and eating them is part of an eco-friendly lifestyle. Wild plants now often appear on menus in gourmet and raw food restaurants. (I wonder if tomorrow is “Roughage Day…”)
• “Statue of Liberty Dedication Day”. President Grover Cleveland dedicated it on this date in 1886. The 151-Ft. statue serves as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. A gift from the people of France, it sits on what is now known as Liberty Island in New York Harbor.
• “National Chocolate Day”. Yes, there was also a “Chocolate Day” in July and an “International Chocolate Day in September — don’t fight it! Here are 5 things to know about chocolate:
► Switzerland is one of the top countries for chocolate consumption. The Swiss consume about 10kg (22lbs.) of chocolate, per person, per year.
► Most cocoa comes from West Africa.
► Cocoa beans were used as currency by the Mayan and Aztec cultures. Perhaps this is where they saying “Money grows on trees” came from.
► White chocolate originates from the cocoa (cacao) plant, but it is not ‘chocolate.’
►Allowing chocolate to melt in your mouth produces a similar reaction to that of a passionate kiss.
