We Give a Sheet!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Kanye West and Bianca Censori are putting on a united front amid their looming divorce — or we at least think it was her. Ye and a woman shrouded in a head-to-toe outfit appeared in LA Saturday night for a film starring Censori and produced by Kanye. At the premiere, held in front of a large crowd inside a Koreatown warehouse, Censori was wearing a nun-like uniform that covered her entire face. Reports indicate she never removed the black outfit. The film is said to explore the female body. Saturday’s outing comes less than 2 weeks after it was reported that West and Censori had reached out to divorce lawyers.

★ Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck officially became divorced on Friday. An LA Superior Court judge approved their divorce settlement, on Jan. 6, and declared that it would take effect on Feb. 21, after California’s required 6 months passed since Lopez filed to dissolve their 2-year marriage. The document said they settled through mediation in September. Lopez now drops the Affleck from her legal name. Most of the financial details were kept private, but we know neither will pay the other spousal support.

★ The new horror comedy “The Monkey” had a strong opening weekend, although it took silver at the box office, behind “Captain America: Brave New World.” The super hero movie managed to top the charts domestically, despite a substantial tumble in its second weekend, taking in an estimated $28.1 million. The Monkey managed about $14 million, pretty good when you figure in the fact that it only cost $10 to make. “Paddington in Peru” took third place, with a projected weekend haul of $6.5 million.

★ In the premiere of “The Baldwins,” which debuted last night on TLC, Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria speak candidly about their family’s struggle through the aftermath of the fatal 2021 “Rust” shooting. Alec Baldwin at one point says that in the most difficult moments of the “terrible” year prior to his trial, “there was times I’d lay in bed and I’d go, ‘Wow, I can’t get up.’” His wife added: “Everyone who is close to Alec has see his mental health decline. He was diagnosed with PTSD.” Baldwin pleaded not guilty, and his case was dismissed days after his trial began in July 2024. He faced up to 18 months in prison.

★ Lynne Marie Stewart, who was best known for her roles on “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” died on Friday at age 78. Her manager said that Stewart became ill after doctors found a tumor between her liver and gallbladder. Stewart is best known for playing ‘Miss Yvonne’ on CBS’ “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” from 1986-1990. Her character’s obsession with beauty, glamour and flirtation earned her the title of “The Most Beautiful Woman in Puppetland.” Stewart most recently played ‘Bonnie Kelly’ in “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, and recently wrapped work on a film titled “The Dink”.

SHOOTING THE BULL
SCREENING DREAMS:
Are you a “dream rememberer”, or do you wake in the morning with no idea of what your brain has been doing for the past 7 or 8 hours? Although about 1 in 4 people claim they don’t dream at night, the truth is that they simply don’t REMEMBER their dreams. Why is that? According to a new study, it’s the daydreamers among us who are more likely to have stronger recall of their overnight adventures. The study, published in Communications Psychology, involved detailed sleep monitoring, cognitive testing, and brain activity measurements. The researchers say that 3 main factors turned out to be strong predictors of dream recall: a person’s general attitude toward dreaming (whether they agreed that dreams are useful), their tendency to let their mind wander during waking hours (this makes sense, as both dreaming and daydreaming involve similar brain networks), and their typical sleep patterns (Those who typically enjoy longer periods of lighter sleep with less deep sleep tend to be better at remembering their dreams).
(If my brain’s overnight adventures are anything like my daydreams, let’s just say the world is better off that I forget them!)
(Wait, so the key to dream recall is less deep sleep? I guess I’ve been napping wrong my whole life!)

AIRPLANE MODE = BETTER MOOD:
New research has revealed a surprisingly simple way to improve your mental health – and your focus: Just turn off your phone’s internet. A study by researchers in the US and Canada found study found that blocking mobile internet access for just 2 weeks led to measurable increases in well-being, mental health, and attention span. In fact, they compared the improvements to the positive effects of cognitive behavioral therapy. After 2 weeks without mobile internet, study participants reported feeling happier and more satisfied with their lives – an effect that was greater than what is typically seen with the use of antidepressants. The average smartphone user spends nearly 5 hours each day on their device.
(I think just not seeing other people’s restaurant dinners on Instagram for 2 weeks would help MY mental health!)
(So the way the Wi-fi works around here is for our own good?)

SHOES IMITATING ART:
Birkenstock sandals might be cool – but they’re not works of art. So says a German court, anyway. The company claimed that the classic footwear should be classified as art, thereby making it protected by copyright laws, in an effort at stopping other manufacturers from selling knock-off versions of the cork-soled sandals. The judge didn’t agree, though, ruling that the shoes are simply that – a practical design. German law distinguishes between design and art, noting that design serves a practical purpose, and works of art need to show a certain amount of individual creativity. Birkenstock had taken 3 manufacturers and retailers to court over their copycat version’s of the company’s “iconic design”.
(No even cared about Birkenstocks until Margot Robbie wore some pink ones in “Barbie”!)
(Uh…Walking the line between comfort and delusion?)

WHAT THE DAY YOU WERE BORN SAYS ABOUT YOU:
(According to TikTok’er Professor Slippery (@papiiitino)…if you believe this kind of stuff…)
☞ SUNDAY: They possess traits such as creativity, boldness, and confidence and have natural leadership skills. They are charismatic and “unwaveringly cheerful.”
☞ MONDAY: Are very kind in nature and have a deep loyalty to family. Women born on this day possess special maternal qualities. They are very sensitive people and the smallest things tick them off.
☞ TUESDAY: Those born on this day possess a fiery and combative spirit. They are brave but very impatient. They can be infuriatingly headstong, and their dogged determination often gives them the drive to be wildly successful.
☞ WEDNESDAY: They are highly communicative and expressive with their feelings, making them most likely to make the first move in a relationship. They also tend to be guilty of a wandering eye and are always tend to explore multiple options before settling on the best one. They can be impulsive. (Sorry if I just got you in trouble…!)
☞ THURSDAY: They possess special traits such as hopefulness. They tend to be optimistic, sociable people, and ooze charisma and power. They are also very likable and regularly find themselves in leadership positions.
☞ FRIDAY: These people are very artistic and have a strong interest in aesthetics. They are also said to be the most romantic people of all the days of the week. They also have more narcissistic tendencies than others, and aim to live lives that are rooted in luxury and hedonism.
☞ SATURDAY: Those born on this day possess modesty, studiousness, wisdom and practicality. They are very hard working and love expanding their knowledge, but they are very strict in nature, preferring to plan for the future, rather than idle away the present.
(I guess I have to start blaming my crippling addiction to chocolate-covered pretzels on something else?)

DID YOU KNOW?
As of last Friday, the probability of the asteroid 2024 YR4 hitting Earth on December 22, 2032 had been downgraded to 0.36%, after NASA initially reported its highest-ever impact probability for an object of its size. This means there is a 99.64% chance it will not hit Earth. YR4, which was discovered in December 2024, is estimated to be 40-90m (130-300 ft.) wide. It is moving in an eccentric orbit of the Sun at a speed of about 61,000 kph (38,000 mph). Further updates will not be possible until 2028 when YR4 approaches Earth again. (Great. Now we can go back to wrecking the planet OUR way!)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Tortilla Chip Day”, saluting the 1940s invention by Rebecca Webb Carranza of LA. Rather than tossing misshaped tortillas from an automated tortilla machine, she cut them into triangles, fried them, and sold them for a dime a bag. They were an immediate hit!
• “World Bartender Day”, to appreciate the staff at your favorite watering hole. They work hard to keep their customers happy and often aren’t paid very well. (And without them, really, how many jokes would there be?)
• “Trading Card Day”. Traditionally associated with sports; baseball cards are especially popular. Cards dealing with other subjects, like Pokémon, are often considered a separate category, known as non-sports trading cards. These can include cartoons, comic book characters, television series and film stills. (“Got it…got it…need it…trader…”)
• Twin Peaks Day”, honoring the TV show created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, which premiered in 1990. Why today? Because the character ‘Special Agent Dale Cooper’, played by Kyle MacLachlan, uttered the words: “Diane, it’s 11:30am, February 24th. Entering the town of Twin Peaks” as he made his entrance into the town of Twin Peaks and into the TV series.
• “I Hate Coriander Day”, a chance for haters of this herb to unite and have a good old coriander bashing session. If the existence of coriander haters baffles you, there is even some research being done that suggests that hatred for coriander can actually be genetic. (Also, the cause of “re-curry-ing” nightmares!)
