Heather Mills’ upcoming participation on “Dancing with the Stars” (ABC) has the UK’s Federation of Disabled People in her native Britain up in arm(s), claiming if Mills is able to dance competitively she doesn’t need the blue disabled sticker on her Mercedes which gives her priority parking at the expense of others . . . And a report says Paris Hilton’s weekend 26th birthday bash in Beverly Hills was trashed by spoiled rich kid Brandon Davis, who mocked Paula Abdul’s Syrian ancestry until she stomped out; then made lewd suggestions to Courtney Love in front of her daughter causing them to leave; and finally he was tossed out himself after making a lunge for the diamond necklace Paris had borrowed for the evening (as they say: class will out).

• Audioslave – Insiders say the band’s bust-up is all about money. Chris Cornell was writing all of their music, yet the other 3 members were getting an equal share in the multimillion-dollar publishing rights.
• Brad Paisley – The country star & his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley have named their first child William Huckleberry Paisley. Fortunately, they plan to call the poor lad ‘Will’.
• Bruce Springsteen – The NFL is hoping the success of Prince’s half-time show at the Super Bowl will convince The Boss to consider performing at NEXT YEAR’s game. Also on the league’s wish list: Norah Jones to sing the pre-game anthem.
• Diana Ross – TONIGHT she guests on the “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC/A Channel).
• The Doors – TODAY the classic rock band finally gets a star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” to mark the 40th anniversary of its founding. Earlier THIS MONTH they received a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the 49th “Grammy Awards”.
• Fantasia – TODAY she’s a guest on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” (syndicated/CTV).
• Jessica Simpson – Pizza Hut’s spokes-bimbo could experience internal bleeding if she ever sampled those Cheesy Bites she flogs in TV ads … she’s reportedly allergic to cheese!
• John Legend – TODAY he does the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” (syndicated/CityTV).
• LL Cool J – TONIGHT he’s on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC).

BS CUTTING-EDGE VOCAB:
New terms leaking into the lingo …
• ‘Food Miles‘ – The distance that a food item travels from its source to the consumer. Purists believe the fewer ‘food miles’ a product travels, the fresher and less-processed it will be. (There’s stuff on the shelves at the corner store that could be measured in ‘Food Years’.)
• ‘Friending’ – To add a person to your list of acquaintances on a social networking website. (“I’ll friend you on my page at MySpace if you’ll friend me on Facebook, ‘kay?”)
• ‘Multi-Dadding’ – What a mother who has children from more than one father does. As more marriages break down and former partners take up with new partners, the practice has become a modern phenomenon. (Used to be known as ‘sleeping around’.)
THE WINDOWS OF THE SOUL:
Swedish scientists have found that the patterns in the iris of your eye may offer clues to your personality. Researchers have found several features in the colored disc around the pupil of the eye that can be measured, including ‘crypts’ (wavy threads that radiate from the pupil); and ‘furrows’ (lines curved around the pupil’s outer edge). By observing these traits in study subjects it was determined that those with dense ‘crypts’ (lots of wavy lines) tend to be warm-hearted and likely to sympathize with others. Those with a lot of ‘furrows’ (pupil rings) find it more difficult to control cravings and are more impulsive. (Those with pink squiggles radiating throughout the eyeball are most likely to work in radio.)

THE L WORD DOWN UNDER:
Captive female koalas being studied at Australia’s University of Queensland have been observed engaging in same-sex acts, with some sessions involving as many as 5 koalas. Despite the presence of males, the females seem to prefer each other. Camera monitoring of the 130 koalas in captivity show there are 3 times as many same-sex encounters as heterosexual ones. Oddly, the behavior has only been observed in captive koalas; wild koalas are overwhelmingly hetero. (What’s so odd? Any of you observe humans behind bars lately?)

• 73% of women but only 36% of men would agree to move on account of their partner’s job.
• 65% of men say they find too much makeup unattractive … on women, that is.
• 49% of moms use their children’s full names when disciplining them.
• 25% of men and 10% of women are able to juggle.
• 21% of women and 14% of men are double-jointed.
• 13% of men have not visited a relative in the past year.
A BIGGER SECTION OF Cs:
About a quarter of babies are now born by Caesarean section even though the World Health Organization estimates only 15% are through medical necessity. So why the popularity? Observers think it’s partly because doctors are increasingly worried about lawsuits stemming from difficult natural births. Another reason is that many of today’s new moms mistakenly think that C-sections are easier, less painful, and not as messy. (They’re just too posh to push.)

THE PERFECT PASSWORD:
Computer security experts say that the ideal password is used for one site only. It uses both upper and lower case letters in combination with numbers and/or other keyboard characters. Sounds simple but the problem is it’s just not easy to remember something along the lines of ‘EAJst9s74*$d!2′, especially when the average person is now estimated to have about 20 passwords, and that number is growing by 20% each year. It’s no wonder we can’t seem to keep track of which one we need. (Because many of us end up using the same combination over and over, the security of many of our identities is as flimsy as a 4-number combo.)
