BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Lady Gaga – says that she has called on the “greatest artists in the world” — including Elton John, Lizzo and Billie Eilish — for the two-hour “Together at Home” special to raise funds in the fight against the pandemic. The April 18th concert will be seen and heard on major broadcast and cable networks, such as ABC, NBC and CBS, as well as through digital music providers.
• Justin Bieber — has turned amateur talk show host during isolation. While quarantined, he and his wife, Hailey, have broadcast their daily life, but on Sunday, he decided to hold a talk show where he invited Kehlani, Lil Pump, Kendall Jenner and Toronto Maple Leaf Auston Matthews to chat.
• America – has announced an eight-disc box set titled “Half Century” to mark the band’s 50th anniversary. The collection will include a book, replica posters and memorabilia, along with a series of previously unreleased demos, album outtakes and home movies. It will be released in early June.
• Pink Floyd — New Jersey police broke up an impromptu concert by two people playing the band’s songs in the middle of a residential street – a violation of the social-responsibility rules during the coronavirus pandemic. About 30 people had assembled to listen to the acoustic show.
• Neil Young – has posted a full-length concert video with Crazy Horse, shot in Buffalo on Feb. 16, 1991. It’s part of his “Uncle Eddie” program, named after an aging fan who expressed concerns that he wouldn’t live long enough to see all of Young’s archive material that’s listed for release.
• Shania Twain — duetted with her horse for the “ACM Presents: Our Country” TV special on Sunday night. The Academy of Country Music Awards was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and in its place, country stars performed in self-isolation for the virtual show. Twain performed ‘Honey, I’m Home’ in her barn with her horse and pet dog by her side.
• Kenny Rogers – Tom Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson will host “Kenny Rogers: A Benefit For MusiCares” on CMT tonight and on MTV Live on Friday. GOURD-GEOUS:
If you’re looking for a mental boost during these tough times, it could be as simple as planting a garden. A study by researchers at Anglia Ruskin University finds that community or home gardening improves body image. A study of gardeners in London determined that people who cultivate flowers, spices, fruits or vegetables have significantly higher levels of body appreciation, body pride, and appreciation for their body’s overall functionality. The findings also suggested that the more time people spent gardening, planting seeds, weeding, watering, harvesting, etc., the larger the improvement in body image. Previous research has proven that gardening can improve many aspects of psychological wellbeing and physical health.
(That would explain old Mrs. Mitchell – the neighborhood nude arborist!)
(Of course. Why else would you spend all day in beds?)
(And just like my tomato plants, I always seem to be underdeveloped!)

CORONAUPDATE:
➢ Whether or not it is advisable to wear a mask has been a controversial topic throughout the COVID-19 outbreak, but it seems health officials and politicians may finally have a clear-cut answer for Canadians. On Monday, Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam announced that health officials are now advising Canadians wear non-medical masks while out in the community. While she reiterated that wearing a non-medical, or even homemade mask won’t protect you from contracting COVID-19, she acknowledged that wearing masks may prevent asymptomatic people from spreading the virus.
➢ Now that at least one tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for COVID-19, The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association has officially advised those who are possibly sick with the virus to stay away from their household pets and other animals. Though it appears that animals may be able to contract the disease from us, there is currently no evidence that the public should be worried about them being a risk to humans (aside from their fur serving as a potential surface to carry the virus).
➢ A new study has found that humidity inside homes is critical to curbing transmission of COVID-19. Many are hopeful that spread of the virus will slow as temperatures warm up, similar to what has been experienced with other respiratory illnesses. This new Yale study finds that the environment indoors may be just as important. Researchers found that there is a sweet spot in terms of indoor relative humidity. Mice living in an environment of between 40%-60% relative humidity were much less capable of transmitting viruses to healthy rodents than those living in habitats featuring lower or higher levels of relative humidity. So, in Spring and Summer, the coronavirus will have a much harder time spreading through the air, but we should be extra vigilant in cleaning surface areas, because infectious droplets are also more likely to fall onto indoor surfaces and remain contagious for long periods of time in more humid conditions.

DÉJA-BREW:
Some people put a lot of sugar into their coffee. And while they may think they like their coffee sweet, it’s nothing compared to this. “Peeps” brand creamer is available again this year – just in time for Easter. Created by International Delight, the company that is also responsible for creating Reese’s and Cinnabon-flavored creamers, the Peeps version promises to bring all the marshmallowy goodness of the traditional Peeps candy to your cup of java. I hope that’s what you felt your cuppa was lacking! And not only does Peeps creamer incorporate the flavor of its namesake candy, but its color as well. This stuff is a pastel shade of yellow. Thankfully, same as last year, it’s only available during Easter season. And by the way, 7-Eleven is selling a “Peeps Marshmallow Latte” too!
(Just in case your Easter hadn’t already been ruined by COVID-19!)
(And thankfully, I’m not going anywhere a store for another 2 weeks!)
(I don’t imagine this is the reason for the 50-yard lineups outside my grocery store?)
