BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Julia Stiles’ secret is out. The actress announced she and her husband, Preston Cook, quietly welcomed baby #3 last year. In a New York Times interview, she said that when she began directing her first movie “Wish You Were Here”, she was “kind of like a bundle of emotions” because she had “a 5-month-old baby.” The movie wrapped production in February. Stiles, who is 43, went on to detail that she was “running on fumes in terms of sleep” but feeling “more energized than … ever.” She did not provide any details about the little one’s name or sex.

★ Anna Paquin said “it hasn’t been easy” as she used a cane to step onto a red carpet for the first time in over a year to promote her latest movie, “A Bit of Light,” directed by her husband and “True Bood” co-star Stephen Moyer. The Oscar winner revealed that she has been dealing with an undisclosed health issue that left her with mobility issues. She did say that her health issue also resulted in her experiencing some difficulties with her speech. A source indicates that Paquin is expected to make a full recovery.

★ Lucas Partridge, dust off your buzzer, because it’s finally time to defend your record-setting reign as “Jeopardy!” champion. Jeopardy! producer Sarah Foss confirmed on the latest episode of the “Inside Jeopardy!” podcast that the quiz show will return with regular episodes next week — with Partridge returning as reigning champ — following 8 months’ worth of tournament-style play, a result of the Writers Guild of America strike. As Foss pointed out in the podcast, even though Partridge was only a 3-game champ, he now holds the record of longest-reigning Jeopardy! champion, ever.

★ “The Matrix” just celebrated its 25th anniversary. And now, Warner Bros. has announced a new installment in the franchise. Drew Goddard, screenwriter of “The Martian”, who also directed “The Cabin in the Woods” will write and produce the new movie alongside his partner Sarah Esberg, with original Matrix writer/director Lana Wachowski executive-producing. Details are scarce, but reportedly, the 5th film is set in the “Matrix” universe, but is not a direct sequel. The last Matrix film was 2021’s “The Matrix Resurrections,” which followed the original trilogy.

★ Bob Iger teased new details for the “Avatar”-themed land coming to Disneyland during a shareholders’ meeting. In a video filmed, naturally, at Disneyland, the CEO mentioned several theme park expansion projects, including the new Avatar attraction, and a new “Frozen”-themed land headed to Disneyland Paris. He showed a concept image of the Avatar project, which builds off of the success of “Pandora: The World of Avatar”, a highly immersive land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which opened in 2017. The new image shows a lagoon with a boat-like attraction, and several large show buildings, which could include Flight of Passage.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Kendrick Lamar – has powered ‘Like That’, the single he raps on from Future and Metro Boomin‘s “We Don’t Trust You”, to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The song quickly went viral thanks, mainly to Lamar’s scorching disses of J.Cole and Drake, who are widely considered the other 2 biggest rappers of their generation.
• Jennifer Lopez – has quietly rebranded her first North American tour in 5 years. After canceling 7 dates due to weak ticket sales, J-Lo has renamed it to apparently broaden its scope, from “This Is Me… Now” to “This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits.” She announced the tour in February to coincide with the release of her latest album “This Is Me… Now” and its accompanying 2 films.
• Tate McRae – is open to the idea of collaborating with rumored boyfriend The Kid Laroi. When asked on the red carpet at the iHeartRadio Music Awards if they will work together, she giggled and said: “I don’t know. Yeah, maybe.”
• Paul McCartney – It turns out his backing tracks were used for Beyoncé’s new cover of The Beatles’ classic ‘Blackbird’. Variety has confirmed that Bey’s interpretation, retitled ‘Blackbiird’ (with a double ‘i’), includes acoustic guitar and foot tapping by McCartney from the original song.
• Imagine Dragons – have dropped their new single ‘Eyes Closed’. The song, which the group has been teasing over the last few weeks, is available now via digital outlets. The video cuts between frontman Dan Reynolds making his way through a desert maze and crashing his car. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2umw8tzx
• Air Supply — will be the subject of an upcoming biopic called “All Out of Love: The Air Supply Story”. Due out in the summer of 2025 to coincide with the duo’s 50th anniversary, the movie will start filming in Australia and the UK late this year.
• Luke Combs — teased his upcoming tour’s setlist — and it only has one song on it. In an Instagram vid, he jokingly said: “We just finished our run-through of the set. Feeling really good…So thought I’d give you guys a little sneak peek…” He then showed the setlist sheet, which lists ‘Fast Car’ 25 times. (And it wasn’t even April Fools’ Day!) BONBON BONUS:
Great news if you’re a chocolate-lover…and really, who isn’t a chocolate lover? It has been found by scientists that the sweet treat is good for your health — in more ways than one. A study from Zhengzhou University in China says a chemical found in chocolate called theobromine has many benefits for the body and the brain. The chemical, which originates in cocoa beans, can help you lose weight by breaking down brown fats. In addition, it is anti-inflammatory, high in antioxidants, and can protect the brain from Alzheimer’s. The scientists also say that theobromine can counter the impact of high cholesterol levels on memory and cognitive function, and fight against depression.
(Judging by their performance on Easter Sunday, my kids are going to live forever — brilliantly, and judging by that past part, very, very happily!)

HAPPY PLACES:
What is your happy place? It turns out that most of us have a favorite place to be, and according to a new poll, for 93% of adults, that place is outdoors. The survey of 2,000 adults in the UK, found that for Gen Z, their happy place is watching a sunset, while older generations are most content walking along the beach, strolling the countryside, or sitting in the yard. Millennials said they are happiest cuddling with their kids, or relaxing in the yard.
(I, too, consider the outdoors my happy place…and will for about 3 more weeks, when the bugs take over, and I can get back to my natural habitat: On the couch, watching the playoffs!)
(My happy place is outdoors, too – an outdoor bar!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ Six jailbirds in New York are suing the state corrections department because they aren’t going to be allowed to watch the solar eclipse. The suit argues that the planned April 8 lockdown violates inmates’ constitutional rights to practice their faiths by preventing them from taking part in a religiously significant event. The plaintiffs, men with varying religious backgrounds, are incarcerated at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in upstate New York. Their complaint states: “A solar eclipse is a rare, natural phenomenon with great religious significance to many”, and notes that the Bible describes an eclipse-like phenomenon during Jesus’ crucifixion, while sacred Islamic works describes a similar event when the Prophet Muhammad’s son died. All state correctional facilities are scheduled to operate on a holiday schedule on Monday. (It would appear as though they’ve already “seen the light”!)
➢ Tattoos sometimes cause regret – but not usually like this: Filipino Ramil Albano had local tattoo parlour Taragis’ logo tattooed on his forehead and commented on the post – just like it had suggested he do, in order to win a prize worth about $2,400. But the shop had presented the challenge as an April Fools’ joke, not expecting anyone to fall for it. Now, the good news: In the wake of the terrible life decision, other local businesses have stepped up to offer to overeager contestant with the fresh forehead tattoo some cash, to help sooth his wound. Food stand ChizMozza offered Albano the equivalent of $240, writing” Your dedication to win” makes you a winner for us”. Then, health and beauty brand Project Glow Up offered to give the entirety of the original prize money to Albano, only this time the cash would be real, “for being dedicated to taking up the challenge full-heartedly!” (Was that ‘full-heartedly’ – or ‘fool-heartedly’?)

DID YOU KNOW?
The University of Connecticut isn’t playing around this year. With both their men’s and women’s basketball teams in the Final Four, U of C isn’t taking any chances, and has removed all the light poles from campus in an effort at preventing celebratory damages. Last year, following the men’s team victory, light poles were torn down at the Storrs campus, and thrown through windows. A spokesperson said: “Given the prevalence of damage to the aluminum campus light poles along Fairfield Way last year, the University is temporarily removing them and has installed wall lights in that area.” Also, alcohol will reportedly not be served at the local Gampel Pavillion.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Dandelion Day”, Today, we celebrate the benefits and beauty of this perennial plant many consider a weed. Its name comes from the French “dent de lion,” meaning “lion’s tooth”, a reference to its leaves’ jagged tooth-like edges. Dandelions are high in Vitamins A, B, C and D, and were used by Native North Americans for kidney disease, swelling and skin problems.
• “Deep Dish Pizza Day”, celebrating the creation of Chicago’s Uno Chicago Grill, which opened in 1943. Why deep dish? Because you can’t possibly get enough fat-laden cheese and sausage onto a regular pie to cause a proper cardiac arrest.
• “Walk to Work Day,” You are encouraged to walk for all or part of your commute to work. (But how am I supposed to get home??)
• “Go For Broke Day”, a day to throw caution to the wind and go all out, give it all you’ve got, don’t hold back, all or nothing, 110%, let ’er rip, balls to the wall! (Now I need a nap…)

• “Teflon Day”, commemorating the accidental 1938 discovery of the coating used to create non-stick surfaces by Du Pont researcher Roy Plunkett. (How do they get it to stick to a pan?)
• “Caramel Popcorn Day”, the buttery sugar goodness of caramel combined with the light airy nature of popcorn creates an amazing flavor combination that you just can’t stop eating. To make it even better, add peanuts, almonds, cashews, or even pecan (plus lint and cat hair, because it makes your hands so sticky…)
• “Plan Your Epitaph Day”, one of 2 days annually dedicated to the proposition that a forgettable gravestone is a fate worse than death. So, what would you like yours to say?
