BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
It’s been confirmed that “Sopranos” star Edie Falco (‘Carmela’) was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier THIS YEAR but kept it a secret, then battled to beat it . . . The so-called ‘actress’ “Enquirer” claims is acting as a surrogate mother for Michael Jackson has reportedly now lost 2 of the quadruplets she was carrying . . . “Star Trek”-loving couple Pamela & Ron Smith has boldly tied the knot at the Tourism & Trek Station in the town of Vulcan AB, exchanging vows in English and Klingon (the ceremony ended with “You may now kiss the Klingon”) . . . Hollywood bad-boy Colin Farrell says he’s going to tone down his wild behavior because he fears his reputation as a partier & womanizer might jeopardize his movie career (dude, it’s the reason you HAVE a career) . . . The UK stage production of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” has been delayed because star Christian Slater is out of commission with – chicken pox (local strippers are breathing a sigh of relief) . . . And here’s what you do when money is no object – Britain’s Prince William is vacationing on the exotic island of Rodriguez in the Indian Ocean with girlfriend Kate Middleton, where he’s been devoting most of his time to diving (of one kind or another).

COMING ATTRACTIONS:
“X-Men” producers are hunting for a new ‘Storm’ after Halle Berry reportedly priced herself right out of the 2 new sequels in the works . . . Keira Knightley is set to star in “Domino”, an action thriller based on the true tale of a model-turned-bounty hunter . . . Vin Diesel will headline “Find Me Guilty”, about a mobster who turns down a deal to be an informant and instead decides to defend himself in court . . . The last instalment in George Lucas’ “Star Wars” series, “Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”, is now undergoing re-shoots in London, despite principal photography finishing LAST YEAR . . . SECRETS OF SCREEN SCREAMERS:
Sky Movies has hired a group of researchers to watch scores of horror films and devise a formula for the perfect scary movie. Some of their findings …
• Suspense is obviously one of the key elements, and it’s created by escalating music, the unknown, chase scenes, and the sense of being trapped.
• For a film to be truly terrifying, it has to be realistic.
• The number of characters is a factor. Fewer characters increases shock factor.
• There’s a maximum level of gore, beyond which a movie becomes just average.
• Using a mathematical formula, the researchers found that the 1980 Jack Nicholson film based on the Stephen King book “The Shining” is as close as there is to a perfect horror film.

IN A NAME:
The city of Topeka KS is looking for a new slogan, but judging by some of the suggestions that have poured in officials might want to scrap the idea. Those unlikely to win approval include ‘City of Morons’, ‘Topeka, You Won’t Get a Lot of Unwanted Relatives Visiting You’ and ‘Topeka – Not as Bad as You Think.’ A spokesperson for the Convention & Visitors Bureau now says having no slogan is perhaps a better option. (How ‘bout ‘Take a peek at Topeka’? No, huh.)

CHOCOLATE DIPPED:
Bad Eisenkappel [bahd ICE-an-cop-pull], a health spa in Klagenfurt, Austria is now offering a tempting new treatment, a relaxing soak in a tub full of – melted chocolate. The spa’s cosmetologist say the bubbly brown baths include cocoa butter which has restorative properties to help protect skin from developing wrinkles. (Wow, an all-you-can-eat hot tub!)

GOOFY GUY GOTCHIES:
Watch out for some odd new offerings in men’s underwear. In addition to ‘briefs’ and ‘boxer briefs’, men’s wear departments are now offering ‘thongs’, ‘action bikinis’ and ‘athletic strings’. There are also shorts with breathable mesh pouches, waistband condom pockets, and even a new brand called C-IN2 with a patented ‘sling support’ that’s designed, in the words of the manufacturer, to ‘lift, project forward and improve the wearer’s profile’. (Saves stuffing in a sock.)

CLINIC OF THE FUTURE?
People with regrets about getting a tattoo (Nick Carter, for instance?) no longer need to resort to the old technique of bleach and a Brillo pad. Inspired by stories of adult movie stars who were unhappy with how their tattoos looked onscreen, Beverly Hills entrepreneur James Morel has opened ‘Dr Tattoff’, LA’s first clinic dedicated to laser tattoo removal. The newest laser removal process is said to be simple and safe, without the scarring that used to occur. Now mistakes can be fixed or unwanted tats removed for just $49 per square inch – per visit.

LISTENING IN:
Special cellphones called ‘Spy Phones’ or ‘Trojan Horse’ phones were first developed in Taiwan 2 years ago and are now being sold across Asia. They look and work like a conventional mobile phone but in reality are sophisticated bugging devices that allow suspicious spouses to secretly listen in on their partners’ conversations. How do you get your spouse to use one? Marketers suggest the bugged phones can be offered as a gift or swapped for an unsuspecting target’s own model. (Nice to see that trust is still a major component in relationships.)

BS AMAZING FACT:
