★ Royal peace talks between King Charles III and Prince Harry are NOT on the agenda, despite some reports, according to The Daily Beast. Royal insiders and friends of King Charles and Prince William have scoffed at reports that the king will sit down for talks with Prince Harry on Sept. 17. A friend of the king’s said that while they believed Charles would always keep the door open to a reconciliation with Harry, they did not think a physical meeting would take place 3 days before the king is due to make an important state visit to France. Other reports indicated that the royals were set to meet for “peace talks” amid their ongoing family feud.

★ Britney Spears and Sam Asghari‘s divorce details will not be featured in her upcoming memoir. Spears is still planning to release her autobiography, “The Woman in Me,” on Oct. 24, and there have not been any emergency meetings or issues holding up publication, nor will there be any changes made to it before hitting bookshelves, TMZ says. Since the Princess of Pop reportedly “gave her final sign-off” on it 2 weeks ago, she does not have the power to include her breakup, after the fact. And according to a source, while Asghari is “mentioned” in the memoir, which Gallery Books is calling the “publishing event of the year,” it focuses more on her conservatorship and career.

★ Meanwhile, Sam Asghari is poking fun at all the attention he’s getting after filing for divorce from Britney Spears. The fitness trainer wrote on his Instagram Stories: “Help me choose paparazzi disguise”, alongside 3 pics of himself: one sporting a gray wig and mustache, one with a short, curly brown wig with sunglasses, and one with a light brown wig. His post came days after he filed for divorce from Spears after one year of marriage.

★ Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” has surpassed $700 million at the global box office, and has become the 4th-highest grossing movie of the year. After 5 weeks of release, the historical drama has generated $718 million ($285 million in North America and $437 million internationally). The film has outperformed “Fast X” ($704 million) and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” ($686 million) — and trails “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” ($1.35 billion), Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” ($1.28 billion) and Marvel’s “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” ($845 million).
-Variety
★ Chad Michael Murray is now a father of 3! The “One Tree Hill” star’s wife, Sarah Roemer, has given birth to the couple’s third child and second daughter. The “Disturbia” actress posted a pic of the infant on Instagram, writing: “Our baby girl arrived last week with a heart on her ankle. We are so in love!” The photo is zoomed in to show her small birthmark. Murray shared the same pic, but neither parent revealed their newborn’s name – nor have they made the names of their 8 and 6-year-olds public.

★ ‘Charlie Brown’, ‘Woodstock’ and the rest of the “Peanuts” gang might be making a return to the big screen. Charles Schulz’s son Craig Schulz spoke ahead of the Apple TV+ special “Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie”, and teased a possible new installment, 8 years after “The Peanuts Movie” landed in theaters. Schulz said: “Nothing is off the table…We’re always exploring different ideas and different things”.

He had sent a $100,000 donation for rebuilding from his Paisley Foundation, and created a GoFundMe that raised over $1 million.

SHOOTING THE BULL

LINKING UP ON LINKEDIN:
Easy, guys, it’s LinkedIn, not Tinder! A new study suggests many romantic hopefuls are turning to the online job networking site in attempts at making . . . more personal connections. A survey was conducted by Passport Photo Online among women who log into LinkedIn at least once per week. 91% said they have been on the receiving end of romantic advances on the “professional” site. And in some ways, it makes sense. LinkedIn provides would-be daters with a look at a person’s interests, and perhaps in a more honest way than a person’s dating profile would. But of course, since it’s not the site’s intended use, many users — 74%, actually— admitted to dialing back their activity on LinkedIn due to receiving inappropriate messages. And among women who received at least one romantic LinkedIn message, about 43% say they have clapped back, letting would-be suitors know they’ve crossed a line.
(So…this isn’t the place to go to find a “work-wife”?)
(To me, LinkedIn seems like a reverse dating site for IT nerds. They get lots of messages from girls, and ignore most of them!)

SLEEP TECHNIQUE:
Generally, when someone asks “How did you sleep last night?” they are referring to the quality of your rest, not your sleeping position. But it turns out there is one sleeping position that will not only provide you with better-quality rest, it’s actually also better for your overall health. According to the experts at The Sleep Foundation, sleeping on your side has multiple benefits, including relieving stress on your spine (less back pain). It can also reduce heartburn and snoring, and allow pregnant women to sleep more comfortably. Footnote: If you struggle with back pain, you should be sleeping on your side with a pillow or blanket between your knees. And one more thing: Yes, it is best to lie on your side but WHICH side? According to Dr Karan Raj, the left side is better. In a TikTok video, the doctor says that sleeping on the left side, especially if you experience acid reflux or heartburn, is the better choice.
(I sleep on my left side. Well, I start there. After that, it’s anybody’s guess!)
(I’m a “side-sleeper”. I sleep aside my wife, 2 cats, a dog…and a toddler, beginning around 5am!)

MISERLY EQUALS WISERLY:
Do you pride yourself on being smart with a buck? A lot of us do, it seems. In a survey, a third of people claimed they are the best bargain hunter they know. The poll of 2,000 Americans’ shopping habits found that 36% of respondents will always look for a deal — even when their finances are doing well. And 87% said they plan to carry their money-saving habits with them forever. The OnePoll survey also found that 8 in 10 feel that finding items on sale is important in today’s economy—and 66% say they can find a deal on any item. And when they do, 85% say it “makes their day”. Here are some of the best ways to save money, according to survey respondents…
• Looking for items off-season that are on clearance. and saving them until I need them
• Checking multiple stores to find the most ‘bang for my buck’ on items
• Putting “$1.00 in a jar for each hour you watch TV.”
• Avoiding impulse shopping
• Doing lots of research beforehand
• Searching for coupon codes on the internet for specific stores
(I just discovered how cheap I am. I do every one of these things, without even thinking about it!)
(I’d save a lot more money by using a ‘swear jar’ than one for each hour I watch TV!)

LIFE LESSONS LEARNED:
A Reddit user asked: “To you redditors aged 50+, what’s something you genuinely believe young people haven’t realized yet, but could enrich their lives or positively impact their outlook on life?” Here are some of the answers…
✓ “Everybody messes up, but it’s what you do after the fact that matters.”
✓ “The habits you get into during your 20s and 30s are going to be…near impossible to change, so make those habits good ones.”
✓  “Focus on experiences, not things. When you look back…you remember good times with great people and also visiting great places or attending important events.”
✓ (***Caution – b****) “Unless you don’t mind hearing EEEEEEEEEEEE all the time day and night, use hearing protection in loud situations. Tinnitus is a bitch.”
✓ “Being thin is not the end all, be all. Eat the piece of pizza and order the dessert.”
✓ “You might not want kids or be able to have kids, and that’s okay. Never let anyone tell you you’re making a mistake or will have regrets if you choose not to have a baby.”
✓ “Stop thinking that life is about being the most productive person you can be. Find interesting hobbies that make you feel good and are good for you. Your soul deserves to experience that.”
✓ “Read for pleasure every single day.”
✓ “Every skill takes determination and practice to master. I’ve seen young friends…try something and give up because they weren’t very good at it…with that mentality, you’ll never be great at anything.”
✓  “Travel while you’re young. I am so glad I did this. Travel opened my eyes to so many things that I carry with me today.”
✓ “Not everything that you disagree with deserves an argument. Pick your battles and let trivial things slide.”
✓ “When you’re an adult, you stop worrying about what everyone else thinks of you. And when you’re old, you finally realize that nobody else was thinking about you all along.”

DID YOU KNOW?
When you get your updated Covid-19 booster this fall, it would be a good idea to get it in the same arm that you did last time. According to a study published in the journal eBioMedicine, your immune response may be stronger if your booster goes in the same arm as your last shot. The study coauthor wrote that no one had previously thought to look into it, but they found that 2 weeks after the booster, the number of “killer T cells” was significantly higher in those who had both shots in the same arm. (If you’re a big brother, you’ll understand. Repeatedly punching your sibling in the same shoulder is waaay more effective than spreading them around!)

BS CHRONOMETER 08.22.23

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Eat a Peach Day”. The best way to eat a peach is while standing under a peach tree, immediately after picking it, with the juice running down your arm.
• “Southern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day”, a time for everyone Down Under to go outdoors at noon and yell ‘Hoodie-Hoo!’ to chase away Winter and make ready for Spring.
• “Tooth Fairy Day”, honoring the tradition of bartering molars for moolah. Where’s it come from? No one knows for sure, but there was a fairy tale in 18th-Century France about a ‘tooth mouse’ who hides under a pillow. The tooth fairy as we now know her first appeared in the early 1900s, as a generalized ‘good fairy’ with a professional specialization. So how much is she paying for prime enamel these days?
• “Bao Day”, at first, one might consider it to be just a simple steamed bun. Dumplings aside, this is the flavorful Chinese dough used to make bāozi, or bao, and is stuffed with savory meats or sweets.
• “Be An Angel Day”, encouraging us to become someone’s angel of sorts. Whether it is a grand gesture (sponsoring someone’s education) or small (saying ‘thank you’ when someone helps you), a good gesture goes a long way towards sending goodwill out into the world.
• “Pecan Torte Day”. Do you know these ‘Pecan Fast Facts’? No peekin’. . .
→ Pecans provide nearly 10% of the recommended Daily Value for zinc. If the body doesn’t get enough zinc, it may have difficulty producing testosterone – key for sexual desire in both men and women.
→ Pecan trees usually range in height from 70-100 feet, but some grow 150 feet (46m) or higher.
→ It would take 11,624 pecans, stacked end to end, to reach the top of the Empire State Building.
→ Texas adopted the pecan tree as its state tree in 1919. In fact, Governor James Hogg liked pecan trees so much that he asked for one to be planted at his gravesite when he died.
→ Albany, Georgia, which boasts more than 600,000 pecan trees, is the pecan capital of the US. Albany hosts the annual National Pecan Festival, which includes a race, parade, pecan-cooking contest, and the crowning of the National Pecan Queen.
