BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are having their dream wedding celebration this weekend at his home in Georgia, one month after tying the knot in Las Vegas. Their 3-day “intimate celebration for family and friends” will kick off with a rehearsal dinner on Friday, according to sources. The actual ceremony will take place on Saturday, and the couple will close out their weekend with a barbecue and picnic on Sunday. Lopez, is expected to wear a custom couture Ralph Lauren dress made in Italy, and Vogue magazine is expected to document her fashion journey for the weekend. Ben and Jen picked his Riceboro home near Savannah as the spot for the big bash last month. The 87-acre property is where they originally planned to tie the knot 20 years ago, when they were first engaged.

★ Ezra Miller is getting treatment for mental health issues, the actor says in a new statement. The 29-year-old star of “The Flash” apologized for their recent troubling behavior. The statement says, in part: “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.” Miller has made headlines multiple times this year, including for 2 arrests in Hawaii. The star was charged with disorderly conduct after causing a disturbance at a karaoke bar and pleaded no contest to the charge.

★ Idris Elba won’t be the next ‘James Bond’. Elba was a longtime favorite to be the next ‘007’, but has reportedly pulled himself out of the running. The upcoming 26th Bond film will be the first without Daniel Craig, whose Bond met an explosive end in “No Time To Die” last year. Elba reportedly suggested other actors play Bond during conversations with producer Barbara Broccolli, according to a report. The Sun newspaper says the “Beast” star would rather “create something for himself”, but has been in talks with Bond producers for so long that he is ‘informally’ involved in the decision-making process.

★ The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has sent a letter of apology to Sacheen Littlefeather, the indigenous activist who spoke on Marlon Brando’s behalf at the 1973 Oscars, calling the treatment she received for her speech “unwarranted and unjustified.” Littlefeather attended the Oscars in Brando’s place after he decided to boycott the ceremony to protest the portrayal of Native Americans in the entertainment industry. When Brando was named Best Actor for his performance in “The Godfather,” Littlefeather gave a speech on Brando’s behalf, declining the honor amid a mix of applause and jeers, with presenters Raquel Welch and Clint Eastwood making dismissive jokes about Brando and Littlefeather’s actions later that evening.

Y’alls kind words have meant the world to me and really lifted me up.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4b9aek3z
• Blake Shelton — will release the new single ‘No Body’ this Friday. He says the song takes him “back to the ’90s when I was in high school and first moved to Nashville, because it feels like what the music sounded like at that time.”

In a video he posted over the weekend, Brown and 2-year-old Kingsley get ready for bed, with a routine that includes a selfie video, funny faces and a whole lot of giggles, which may not be the most effective way to wind down the day. His caption: “My bedtime routine is not approved by (my wife) @KatelynBrown. LINK:  https://tinyurl.com/pmjnp7nd

SHOOTING THE BULL

SCHOOL’S OUT – MORE OFTEN THAN IT’S IN:
As companies around here talk more and more these days about switching to a 4-day work-week, the people running the education system in the UK are living in 2050! Schools there could move to a THREE-DAY WEEK this fall – but it’s not necessarily for positive reasons. Due to financial constraints, many head teachers there are now holding ‘crisis meetings’ with trustees and boards of governors, during their summer holidays, as they plan ahead for schools reopening next month. Media is reporting that costs are rising faster than school budgets predicted. Energy expenses for some are expected to rise by 300%, and with teacher pay raises scheduled for September, an addition layer of pressure will be added. One school exec said that some measures being considered include: shorter school days, fewer after-school clubs and enrichment opportunities, cutting back on maintenance work, and delaying the purchase of new textbooks. But another high-ranking school official admitted that, to save on costs, there have been discussions of a “three-day week”.
(That way they win a few ways: Lower heating costs, they can pay teachers less…and less wear and tear on those textbooks!)
(Believe me – Back in my school days, my friends and I had a LOT of discussions about a 3-day week!)

LOOK WHAT THE CAT DRAGGED IN:
A cat owner who was sick of his kitty bringing home the treasures of its night-time hunting expeditions has invented an A.I.-based cat flap, which prevents her from bringing home gifts, such as dead birds and mice. Martin Rosinki, a British tech researcher, says he was being awakened up to 4 times per night when his cat, Jinx, would proudly drop off prey and meow loudly. So, he came up with a microchip-run cat flap by installing a camera and developing A.I. software that detects the presence of prey. If prey is detected, the cat flap is temporarily locked and a notification is sent to his phone. In just over a year, it has prevented Jinx from bringing a whopping 42 victims inside! He’s now started a crowdfunding campaign to get the OnlyCat cat flap on the market by next April. LINK:  https://www.onlycat.com/
(This guy thinks HE had problems. Our cat brings home LIVE birds…and mice…and chipmunks…!)

LOVE TRIANGLES:
Doritos fans who like to dip their chips in ketchup and mustard will be happy to know they no longer have to do so, because Frito-Lay’s is doing it for them. The brand announced the new ‘Classic Ketchup’ and ‘Spicy Mustard’ flavors on social media last week. Frito-Lay also announced a new group of “flavor swap” chips, which mix flavors and brands in unexpected ways. This year’s lineup includes ‘Kettle Cooked Fritos Chili Cheese’ flavor, ‘Lay’s Cheetos’ flavor, ‘Lay’s Doritos Cool Ranch’ flavor, and ‘Lay’s Wavy Funyuns Onion’ flavor. Both the flavor swaps and condiment-flavor chips are only available online, for a limited time. LINKS:  https://tinyurl.com/29rrmv43  https://www.snacks.com/
(Great idea on the condiment-flavored chips. Now could someone PLEASE do this with sausages?)
(The big takeaway of all this for me is that you’re telling me some people dip their Doritos…in ketchup and mustard?)

DID YOU KNOW?
The Karens of the world can rejoice, because their difficult-to-digest persona now comes in the form of a toy. The K-name has been co-opted to refer to any “white-lady-with-a-bone-to-pick” online, and, while certainly not fair to the many agreeable and easy-going women born with the name, it has inspired many slangy catch-phrases, like “Calm down, Karen.” Now, Pennsylvania toy company Namespace has unveiled plans to produce 3¾-inch tongue-in-cheek action figures, depicting the problematic bob-cut Karens of the world. And, to make things more interesting, the action figure will be sold along with an overworked “Joe the Manager” figure for her to hurl insults at. (And to demand to speak to!)

• “#2 Pencil Day”, if it’s the most popular pencil, why isn’t it #1?
