All six cast members are set to take part in the one-off special for HBO Max, which will finally go ahead this month after being delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to a source, there will be very strict guidelines in place, including no live audiences, and “all of the cast will be tested for Covid-19, and asked to quarantine in isolation after they’ve had the tests.” All other details are being kept tightly under wraps.

It’ll be released digitally on September 1.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• BTS, Doja Cat and J Balvin – are among the artists who will perform outdoors for this year’s VMAs. The awards show will not be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, as originally planned. Instead, the Aug. 30 show, to be hosted by Keke Palmer, will consist of “several outdoor performances around [New York] City with limited or no audience.” The show will return to Barclays Center in 2021.
• Selena Gomez – will star alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short in the new Hulu comedy “Only Murders in the Building”. It revolves around three strangers who share an obsession with true crime who suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one.
• Madonna — is reportedly set to sign an eight-figure deal to return to Warner Records. She is poised to rejoin the label which helped launch her career after releasing three albums via Interscope, including 2019’s “Madame X”.
• Creem magazine – the new documentary about the legendary rock and roll publication, “Creem: America’s Only Rock ’N’ Roll Magazine”, opened Friday on Virtual Cinema. Among the stories covered: The time Joan Jett showed up at the mag’s Motown offices threatening to pummel the critic who lambasted the Runaways’ first album.
• Foo Fighters — have cancelled their 25th anniversary “Van Tour”. They were scheduled to hit the road in spring, but the trek was rescheduled due to the coronavirus crisis. After initially postponing the tour to October, it has now been scrapped altogether. The Van Tour was scheduled to revisit the venues from their first U.S. tour in 1995.
• David Bowie – His archival releases will continue with the digital release of “Something in the Air (Live Paris 99)” on Aug 15. Recorded on Oct. 14, 1999 in Paris, it will include the rarity ‘Can’t Help Thinking About Me’, which he released in 1966 but hadn’t performed in more than three decades.
• Maren Morris — has donated $70,000 to the band program at East Nashville Magnet High School, to help purchase instruments, uniforms, tuxedos and gowns. The school received the donation as part of Morris’ HEROES Fund, which raises money through proceeds from her ticketed meet-and-greet events.
• Kane Brown – In an interview, he elaborated on reports that he had gotten lost for seven hours in his own (new) backyard. Quote: “We have 30 acres and it’s all woods. We made our own trail and then it started raining and it started getting dark and we were running out of gas…and we live by all these cliffs…We ran into a drop-off, so we ended up having to call the cops and walk down.”

HOME WORK:
So: Working from home—does it make you more productive – or less? According to a study by Microsoft, our employers are reaping extra benefits when their staffers are working remotely. The tech giant focused on 350 of its employees who are working remotely using “Workplace Analytics” and anonymous surveys, which honed in on work-life balance by looking at usage through email, calendar, and other elements of the digital workplace. The key takeaway from the study is this:  workers are putting in an additional four hours per week on average. The study said a possible reason for this revolves around other responsibilities at home. It was also found that weekly meeting time increase by 10%.
(I think that’s because 10% of meetings are spent saying “Can you hear me?” And “I can hear you, but I can’t see you – where’s Jim?” And “Oh, your cat is so pretty!”)

MORE PANDEMIC-RELATED INFLATION:
The pandemic may have caused business to go into a tailspin for anyone who rents out birthday party bouncy castles, but this guy has found an interesting workaround. Brad Dick of Bounceroo Party Rentals in Edmonton, AB is offering to rent you a backyard inflatable pub. So, if you miss the camaraderie of your local watering hole, you can invite some of the people in your bubble over and start serving up drinks while in an air-filled replica of an English country-style pub. The cozy atmosphere includes windows, a mantel and a faux fireplace, with space to set up a few tables. If you like, add flowers near the entrance and a few chairs around the fireplace, and you’d never know you aren’t at your favorite watering hole – after a few drinks.
(Desperate times call for desperate measures!)
(I’m not sure my friends are the kind of people who can be trusted around a structure like this!)
(***CAUTION*** For some, this would be their second pandemic-related purchase of an inflatable!)

NOODLE NEWS:
➢ Mac & Cheese for breakfast? Why not? In a survey, Kraft in the US found 56% of parents have served their kids mac & cheese for breakfast more often during the pandemic, so the company is embracing the idea by selling special-edition boxes labelled “Macaroni & Cheese Breakfast” rather than the traditional “Macaroni & Cheese Dinner.” The limited-edition boxes will appear in grocery stores next year. (And in Canada, it’ll be called “KB” instead of “KD”?)
➢ If you like mac & cheese, and you like Cheetos, you’ll love this: Cheetos is selling its own line of mac & cheese. It comes in three flavors: Flamin’ Hot, Bold & Cheesy, and Cheesy Jalapeño. Made with authentic Cheetos cheesiness using the mascot Chester Cheetah’s top-secret seasoning, the corkscrew-shaped pasta noodles are said to be inspired by Chester’s tail. Cheetos mac ‘n’ cheese is available now in the US in both box and cup formats. (Flamin’ Hot or not, I’m still putting ketchup on it!)

“GUYS” – NOT SO WISE:
What are the first words you usually hear on a Zoom call (besides “Can you hear me?”)? It’s usually “Hey Guys!” Now, some people are saying that using the word “guys” to address work colleagues is a gendered phrase that could be sending signals about who is – and who isn’t – included in your workplace. Amy Jeffers, an organizational development specialist in diversity, equity and inclusion, says there are better alternatives to using the word “guys”. She suggests we get used to using non-gender-assuming terms such as:
• “Hey team”
• “Hey crew”
• “Hey all
• “Hey folks”
• “Hey people”
• “Hey peeps”
• “Hey y’all”
• “Hey everyone”
• “Hey pals”
• “Hey friends”
(Or just “Hey”.)
(If someone ever uses the words “Hey peeps” you should have legal authority to immediately leave the call and take the rest of the week off!)
(The only time I’ve ever had a boss call me “pal” was just before he asked me to help him smuggle a box a file folders into the trunk of his car…)

DID YOU KNOW?
According to a new Japanese study published in the journal “Current Biology”, beetles have an unorthodox way to escape frogs after being eaten — ducking out the back door. According to the first-of-its-kind research, the water scavenger beetle, Regimbartia attenuata, climbs down its captor’s intestinal tract and forces the captor to “poop” it out, which can take anywhere from six minutes to two days. The study was engineered to test “unimaginable” prey defenses. (Bringing new meaning to the term “dung beetle”?)
