Good Morning, Sheetheads!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Natalia Bryant, the oldest daughter of late Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, and his widow Vanessa, is ready for the runway. IMG Models has announced that it’s now representing her. Natalia, who turned 18 last month, is the older sister of Gianna — who died in the Jan. 2020 helicopter crash that also took the life of her father. Although she’s just beginning her career, Natalia already has 2.3 million followers on Instagram. Her photos until now have mostly been with family members, including tributes to Kobe and Gianna. Natalia’s mom, who’s a former model herself, reposted the news and wrote: “I’m so happy for you! I love you Nani.”

★ Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith have closed deals to star in the film adaptation of “Dungeons & Dragons.” Dungeons & Dragons, or “D&D” as it’s often called by gamers and the kids on “Stranger Things”, is based on the tabletop fantasy game, and will be one of the first releases under Hasbro’s AllSpark Pictures banner. The company also has projects inspired by other toys, including “Mr. Potato Head” and “My Little Pony,” as well as a movie based on “Monopoly”, which will star Kevin Hart.

★ Not only did SAG-AFTRA thank Donald Trump after the former president resigned from the union, but it’s also now barring him from ever joining again. The actor’s union has passed a resolution to preemptively deny any potential readmission applications from Trump. In a press release, the organization cites the same concerns that led to its leaders filing disciplinary charges against Trump last month: “notably his antagonism of the union’s journalist members and disregard for the values and integrity of the union.”

★ Dwayne Johnson’s rookie college football card just went up for auction and sold for a huge price. Before wrestling, “The Rock” played on the University of Miami team as a defensive tackle during the ’90s. Johnson revealed on Instagram that his rookie card just sold for $45,000. He wrote: “Playing in the NFL was my dream and playing in the Super Bowl was my even bigger dream. Of course, neither dream came true for me, but years later…On SUPER BOWL Sunday my rookie card gets sold for 45K!! Congrats to the winning bidder!”

The collection includes a “Lil Devil” vibrator, a pink voodoo doll with a sad face and lyrics including “Cut the strings that were attached”, and a hoodie/t-shirt emblazoned with a pic of Fox and MGK, kissing.
• Phoebe Bridgers – Her smashing of a guitar on “Saturday Night Live” earned big reactions on social media — with some people pointing out that she wasn’t particularly successful in actually smashing it. After Jason Isbell wrote: “That was like an 85dollar guitar”, Bridgers responded: “I told (guitar maker) danelectro I was going to do it and they wished me luck and told me they’re hard to break”.
• Britney Spears – Celebrities including Miley Cyrus, Kacey Musgraves, Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker have posted messages supporting her after the airing of the doc “Framing Britney Spears.” Some tweeted “#FreeBritney”, referencing the fan movement in support of Spears being allowed to regain control over her own affairs.
• The Band – have shared an unreleased live version of their 1968 classic ‘The Weight’, as the latest preview to the Feb. 12 release of an expanded 50th anniversary reissue of their “Stage Fright” album. From a 1971 performance at The Royal Albert Hall in London, it is one of several previously-unavailable recordings on the release. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/nxm3899k
• The Offspring – have confirmed they will release a new album this year, their first since 2012. In a video, Dexter Holland and Noodles say: “It’s in the can as they say. We’ve got songs, we’ve got titles…we’ve got an album title, we’ve got a cover…” Exactly when will it be released? “We’re going to talk about all that stuff when the label lets us”.
• Metallica – Lars Ulrich’s father has released an album at the age of 92. Torben Ulrich, who’s worked as a poet, journalist, painter, and filmmaker, collaborated with composer/musician Lori Goldston on “Oakland moments: cello, voice, reuniting (rejoicing)”. On it, Torben relays his texts and poems, inspired by “his rice-paper paintings, exploring elements of athleticism, philosophy and mysticism”.
• Ryan Hurd and Maren Morris – Their duet ‘Chasing After You’ will drop on Friday. Hurd says although the married couple have sung on each other’s records and written together, this is their first actual duet. Quote: “It’s a full circle moment to get to make music together in this way.”

SHOOTING THE BULL
CRAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY:
What better way to express love to that special someone than virtual sludge? It may sound like a strange thing to do to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but the New York City Department of Environmental Protection is once again offering Feb. 14th tours of a Brooklyn wastewater facility…but this year, it’s gone virtual. Tickets for tours of the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant usually sell out soon after being released, but this year, everyone can participate. According to the Eventbrite ticket page, this is a chance for you and your Valentine to “take a peek inside the city’s largest sewage treatment plant, where wastewater — collected from storm drains and the toilets and sinks of more than 1 million New Yorkers — is cleaned each day…(plus) why you should not take a shower during a rainstorm, and the real problem with ‘flushable’ wipes.” The tour costs $5 and will take place on Zoom. Singles are also welcome.
(I’m trying, but I still don’t get the connection with Valentine’s Day. But then, I’ve never been through a divorce…)
(I’m just going to have this in the back of my mind to mention for comparison purposes if my sweetie doesn’t like what I got for her…)
(When I asked what she’d like for Valentine’s day, I’m pretty sure she mentioned a ‘plant’…)

WEED BETTER GET GROWING:
As hard as it is to believe, Jamaica is running low on ganja. Heavy rains followed by an extended drought, an increase in local consumption and a drop in the number of marijuana farmers have caused a shortage in the island’s famous but largely illegal market that experts are calling the worst they’ve seen. Jamaica, which foreigners have long associated with pot, reggae and Rastafarians, legalized the medical marijuana industry and decriminalized small amounts of weed in 2015. Worsening the problem are strict COVID-19 measures, including a 6 p.m. curfew that meant farmers couldn’t tend to their fields at night as usual. Triston Thompson, who is “chief opportunity explorer” for a consulting and brokerage firm for the country’s cannabis industry, calls the situation a “cultural embarrassment.”
(I saw that when I was watching a documentary on marijuana. Actually, I think all documentaries should be watched that way!)
(Bob Marley must be ‘rolling’ in his grave…just like when he was alive!)
(Another factor: Keith Richards owns a home there…)

WEIGHT AND SEE:
A new study finds that maybe having a “dad bod” isn’t such a bad thing. Researchers from Ohio State University found people who enter adulthood at a normal weight and start to pack on the pounds later in life live the longest. They looked at the residents Framingham, Massachusetts and their children for nearly 70 years, and determined that young adults with a healthy body mass index (BMI) who gradually become overweight — but never obese — have the greatest lifespans. These adults even lived longer that those who kept a normal BMI throughout their whole life.
(Sounds like a piece of cake!)
(I guess by “gradually gaining weight” they don’t mean my “Quarantine 15”?)
(How am I supposed to ‘gradually gain weight’ if they won’t open up the buffets?)

(More) VALENTINE’S DAY GIFTS THAT ARE…DIFFERENT:
⇒ Mermaid throw blanket: Yup, a throw blanket in the shape of a mermaid’s tail, that she can slip on to stay warm when her Valentine can’t be there. Complete with the fin. (Sounds fishy to me…)
⇒ Rosepops: Flowers are a big part of Valentine’s Day, but with Rosepops, which use an all-natural preservative to keep them looking fresh for months, you don’t have to clean up the dead petals until much later. (By which time, they may be paid for…)
⇒ Valentine’s donut bath bomb set: Two of life’s great pleasures are donuts and warm baths. These donut-shaped bath bombs combine them into one glorious gift. (Is this for him or for her…or for Homer? Doh!)
⇒ Nostalgic Gourmet chocolate bar 4-pack: A heart-shaped box of chocolates is cute, but do you know what she might REALLY love? Chocolate bars that taste like cereal, donuts, and chocolate chip cookies. (They should make bath bombs outta these things!)
⇒ Bow teddy: It’s a teddy in the shape of a sexy bow. JUST a sexy bow. In red or pink. (And who wouldn’t want to unwrap that?)
⇒ Suction cup restraints: These fun cuffs stick to smooth surfaces such as the shower wall, and can provide a happy medium between a bathroom and a dungeon. (A good way to have some good, clean, dirty fun?)

DID YOU KNOW?
A Kingsville, Ont., couple have been hit with an $880 ticket for playing Pokemon Go during the current stay-at-home order due to COVID-19. Matthew Steeves says he and his wife were playing the augmented reality mobile game in a church parking lot when an officer approached their vehicle. He says the cop told him “that wasn’t an essential reason to be out of my house, so I argued, saying it was essential for my mental health.” He still got the ticket, which he plans to fight. Steeves says he and his wife hadn’t had a moment alone in months, and with the kids attending school online, they decided to go for a drive, not realizing that they could be fined for sitting in their van. Under the stay-at-home order, people in Ontario are only permitted to go out for things such as food, medication, work or exercise.
