We’ve Got Our Sheet Together!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Amid the fallout following the news that “Yellowstone” is reportedly coming to an end, comes an even bigger bombshell: series star Kevin Costner is essentially the reason behind the show’s demise. As a result, series creator Taylor Sheridan and Paramount are reportedly on the same page about ending the series. Deadline reports that Costner got into disagreements with the production team over the shooting schedule. He originally limited himself to 65 days of shooting but later made that 50 shooting days for the first part of Yellowstone’s current season. When it came to the second half, Costner only wanted to film for a week. He’s currently directing and starring in the western epic “Horizon”, which he also co-wrote. With Costner spending less time on the Yellowstone set, he’ll reportedly barely appear in the remaining episodes of Season 5.

★ Maria Menounos is going to be a mom! The former “E! News” host, who is currently CEO of online podcast series network “AfterBuzz TV”, and her husband Keven Undergaro are expecting their first baby. In an interview, the 44-year-old said that after a decade of trying, they “are so grateful to the beautiful family helping us conceive our baby.” She also shared an emotional clip in which she watches an ultrasound video with her father, Constantinos, by her side.

★ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is the most-watched Marvel film premiere on Disney+ worldwide, based on hours streamed in its first 5 days, according to the company. The “Black Panther” sequel, directed by Ryan Coogler, launched on Disney+ on Feb. 1, after its theatrical debut last Nov. Disney did not provide specific viewing numbers, and that the claim is based on its own internal measurements. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” was nominated for 5 Academy Awards.

★ Pamela Anderson is cooking up her latest television project. She’ll host “Pamela’s Cooking With Love” for Food Network Canada, as her home renovation series “Pamela’s Garden of Eden” has been renewed for a second season at HGTV Canada. This all comes as she continues her book tour to promote “Love, Pamela”, which was released last month, alongside the Netflix documentary “Pamela, A Love Story”. Pamela’s Cooking With Love is an 8-part series set to air next year.

★ Showtime is expanding its franchises with a “Dexter” prequel series and multiple “Billions” spinoffs in the works. Alongside the currently titled “Dexter: Origins” series, the network announced that “Billions: Miami,” “Billions: London,” “Millions” and “Trillions” are all in the works. “Dexter: Origins” will follow a young ‘Dexter Morgan’ as he transitions into the notorious serial killer he would eventually become. Set in Miami, young Dexter will encounter the younger versios of other “Dexter” characters, while focusing on his family relationships.

★ Alright, alright, alright, Mathew McConaughey is going to be the next Elvis, thank you, thank you very much. McConaughey will voice the King in an upcoming adult cartoon by Netflix, executive produced and co-created by Priscilla Presley. While McConaughey’s ‘Elvis’ will still be the performer we all know and love, he’ll also have a super secret side to him: he’s also a spy. Titled “Agent Elvis”, the series will premiere next month, and will follow Elvis as he balances his superstar duties with undercover vigilante activities.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Doja Cat — has never been shy about her eclectic influences, but now she says fans should prepare for an edgier project. Quote: “I want to explore punk. But not pop-punk. I feel like we have enough pop-punk artists right now.”
• Offset — is disputing claims that he fought with his cousin Quavo backstage at the Grammys. Quavo reportedly blocked Offset from joining him onstage for the tribute to Takeoff, which led to a physical fight between them. All 3 rappers had been members of the group Migos. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/v6r8hd2k
• Linkin Park — will release the previously unheard song ‘Lost’ this Friday. It’s an outtake from the recording sessions for the band’s second album “Meteora”, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in March. The group has been on hiatus since Chester Bennington’s death in 2017. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2k66b6bp
• Fleetwood Mac — Mick Fleetwood says he can’t envision the group continuing in the wake of Christine McVie’s death. In an interview at the Grammys, he said: “I truly think the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris. I’d say we’re done, but then we’ve all said that before.”
• Carlos Santana — has announced additional dates for his Las Vegas residency. “An Intimate Evening With Santana: Greatest Hits Live” at the House of Blues will begin with a string of dates in May, followed by 16 newly announced shows in Sept. and Nov.
• The Grand Ole Opry — unveiled a brand new stage during Saturday night’s show. It’s part of more than $4 million in upgrades to the set, audio/visual technology, and auditorium, including a new Barn with new lighting elements and capabilities. Jon Pardi and the Oak Ridge Boys were among those to christen the new set last weekend.
• Thomas Rhett – His 5-year-old daughter, Ada James, isn’t all that impressed with his success. Rhett recently told the story of when the entire family was Christmas tree shopping and some fans recognized him. Quote: “Ada James looked at me and she said, ‘Why do people like you?’…I was just like, ‘Those folks like Daddy’s music and they wanted a picture.’ And she was like, ‘That’s so weird.’”
• Kacey Musgraves – Loretta Lynn’s family definitely appreciated her poignant, authentic tribute to the late star as part of the all-star “In Memoriam” segment during the Grammys. A statement posted to Lynn’s social media channels says: “Thank you, [Kacey Musgraves], for this beautiful tribute. The love all of you have shown us for our mom is beyond words.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/mdt4zab3

SHOOTING THE BULL

SPEAKING OF CONVERSATIONS:
Sure, you send texts back and forth with your friends, but how often do you actually talk with them? A team at the University of Kansas is sending us a reminder that a friendly chat with a friend just once per day — in person, not through technology – can make you happier and promote a better sense of well-being, leading to lower stress levels. Those chats can range from catching up or joking around to sharing opinions, or simply letting someone know they were on your mind. What’s more, the researchers found that while just one conversation is enough to promote well-being, more is definitely better. Those who enjoyed more than one quality conversations had even better days.
(Unless someone brought up politics!)
(I’m glad to see this. Because I was invited to have a nice chat with 3 teachers and a principal just last week!)

THIS SUCKS – AND THAT’S GOOD:
The move to paper straws is definitely better for the environment, but nobody likes it when it gets all soggy and self-destructs on your second sip. But hang in there, because scientists at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology say they are developing a 100% biodegradable, environmentally-friendly paper straw that doesn’t get soggy. It turns out that the paper straws we use these days aren’t just made of paper. If they were made of 100% paper, they’d get so soggy that they wouldn’t even be usable as a straw. So, manufacturers coat the surface with polyethylene, or acrylic resin, both of which are ingredients in plastic bags and adhesives. But that coating material doesn’t fully decompose – becoming microplastics instead. The South Korean researchers managed to come up with a coating material which is made of the same stuff that largely makes up paper, and can completely break down in the environment.
(…as long as it doesn’t get wet, apparently!)
(To me, the only thing worse than a soggy straw – is the word “soggy”!)

CLASS ACT:
Nine-year-old David Balogun is not only one of the youngest-ever high school grads – he’s already finished a semester of community college. The young brainiac, who lives with his family in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, began high school just before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and took specially-designed classes remotely, graduating with an over 4.0 GPA before the end of 2022. David’s mother, Ronya Balogun, says her son was tested for giftedness in first grade. He skipped several grades in elementary school and has a particular interest in science and computer programming, but also loves sports and piano playing. The youngster, who is already a member of hi-IQ group Mensa, says he wants to be an astrophysicist who studies black holes and supernovas. He’s already obtained a few credits at college, and his family is currently searching for other colleges or universities that may be a good fit. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3ntrrdew
(I guess the only thing I have in common with this guy is the fact that I, too, skipped an awful lot of school!)
(You’re probably thinking: “Yeah, but what a nerd this kid must be”, but nope, I checked it out, and he’s also way cooler-looking than I’ll ever be!

8. “Top Gun: Maverick” (8% — this was 2022’s #1 movie at the legit box office)

(I guess we can’t really call these movies “box-office” champs, can we?)

DID YOU KNOW?
Workers get itchy feet around 18 months into a new job. A study of 5,000 employed adults found that’s the average point when employees come to realize exactly what their job prospects are — and whether it’s time to start thinking about finding something new. The leading causes for those itchy feet? Not being valued for their contributions, feeling like they’re underpaid, and deteriorating working conditions. And 18% said they experienced job doubt when they found themselves working too many hours. The workers reported that once they started feeling frustrated, they started looking for new work, on average, within 4 months — and it typically took just over 3 months to land a new position.
