BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Wendy Williams’ son has revealed his mother’s frontotemporal dementia is due to her alcoholism. Kevin Hunter Jr. explained in the Lifetime documentary “Where Is Wendy Williams?” that alcohol negatively affected the former talk show host’s “headspace and her brain.” Williams first learned of her brain damage in 2019 while in rehab, but didn’t receive the official dementia and aphasia diagnosis until 2023. Her team said in a statement that she is “still able to do many things for herself”.

★ King Charles is honoring singer George Michael — a friend of his late wife Princess Diana. The monarch approved the use of an image of the ‘Faith’ singer on a new set of coins, alongside coins honoring the classic ‘James Bond’ film “The Spy Who Loved Me” and ‘Maid Marion’, from the historic “Robin Hood” story. The “Star Wars” franchise — which was first filmed in Elstree Studios in England — will also be honored through coins that feature the Death Star and Millennium Falcon, among other designs.

★ Timothée Chalamet revealed in 2022 that his “Don’t Look Up” co-star Leonardo DiCaprio once gave him brief but essential career advice: “No hard drugs and no superhero movies”, and it’s a path Chalamet has followed, despite his contemporaries signing up for Marvel and DC films in recent years. Is Chalamet still committed to DiCaprio’s advice? While on the press tour for “Dune: Part Two,” Chalamet said the door on starring in comic book movies is not completely shut. Chalamet said while he thinks the advice is solid, “The movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, ‘The Dark Knight.’ If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”

★ ‘Harry Potter’ is set to return — to the small screen — in 2026. The first installment of the Harry Potter TV series is targeted to hit the Max streaming service in 2026, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said on the company’s earnings call. The series is expected to span 7 seasons, adapting each book in J.K. Rowling’s fantasy series. It will feature an all-new cast from the films.

★ Tyler Perry says he is “a little annoyed” by how long it’s taking to get “Sister Act 3” to the big screen. The actor and filmmaker told “Entertainment Tonight” that he and co-producer Whoopi Goldberg are anxious to finally kick off the project, which was first announced by Disney in late 2020. Perry pointed out that development on the film is taking so long that he has “done four movies since we started talking about this.” He also said that “Disney’s a huge, wonderful company, but I really want to get this movie and Whoopi really wants to get this movie.”

The song, believed to be called ‘Doctor’, was first heard as part of Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Fall-Winter 2024 Collection presentation in Paris last month. LINK: http://tinyurl.com/tpnfcdpb
• Taylor Swift – has announced a 3rd special edition of her upcoming album “Tortured Poets Department”, out April 19. This one will feature the bonus track ‘The Albatross’ performed during her show in Australia on Feb. 22. She posted the alternate cover art for the “Albatross” edition, featuring an image of her standing in front of a body of water — with a backside that reads “Am I allowed to cry?” LINK: http://tinyurl.com/2rmxx6vb
• Blink-182 – has equalled a 7-year-old record on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart. ‘One More Time’ has now been at #1 for 20 weeks, tying the mark for the longest reign in the tally’s 36-year history. Portugal. The Man’s ‘Feel It Still’ did the same thing in 2017.
• Billy Joel and Sting — kicked off their “One Night Only” co-headlining tour on Sat. in Miami, with both artists popping up during the other’s set to help out on a classic song. Sting’s set opened with a rendition of the Police’s ‘Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic’ featuring Joel. And during Joel’s set, Sting appeared onstage to take the lead on ‘Big Man on Mulberry Street’. LINK: http://tinyurl.com/mttaykma
• Huey Lewis – A trailer has been released for the new Broadway musical “The Heart of Rock and Roll”, inspired by and featuring the songs of Huey Lewis & the News. The show opens at James Earl Jones Theatre on April 22. LINK: http://tinyurl.com/2payf48b
• Warren Zeiders – ‘Pretty Little Poison’, his first-ever entry on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart has also become his first-ever #1. It’s also the first song to debut at the top of that chart since Nate Smith’s ‘Whiskey on You’ in February 2023.
• Dan + Shay – made their debut as coaches on “The Voice” last night, and they’re well aware that the show will expose them to a much bigger, mainstream audience, same as it did for Blake Shelton. Shay Mooney said: “This is a massive opportunity for us. We’ve had some crossover success, but this opens you up to an entirely different audience…We don’t really know what to expect.”
• Lainey Wilson – has got you if you need some bell-bottom, country-inspired denim apparel in your wardrobe. She and Wrangler have rolled out The Lainey Wilson Edit. The collection features several denim shirts, flare jeans, shorts, a Wester-printed jacket, and more. LINK: http://tinyurl.com/eu8vhj72

SHOOTING THE BULL

BINGE-WATCHER WANTED:
If you’re one of those people who is such a huge movie fan that you host an Oscars-watching party (and participate in an Oscars pool), then this might be perfect for you. A website is offering to pay a film fan $2,000 to watch all of this year’s Best Picture Academy Award nominees, and predict the winners. TestCasinos.com calls it a “unique job opportunity” where someone will be selected to watch the 10 nominees for Best Picture, rate each film – then predict the outcome of the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress categories at this year’s Oscars. The chosen candidate will receive $2,000, plus a new 65-inch 4K TV and a $500 DoorDash gift card. Applications are being accepted through March 9. LINK: https://testcasinos.com/blog/oscar-nominees-dream-job/
(…which wouldn’t give you a lot of time to watch 10 movies…considering the Oscars happen on March 10!)
(I’d be all over this, but I don’t think there are enough Doritos in this town for me to sit through 10 movies!)

SCIENTISTS SAY:
❑ If you just can’t seem to find the time to workout during the week – don’t sweat it (pardon the pun…)! Researchers from The Obesity Society found that squeezing in physical activity on weekends can be just as effective for losing weight as spreading out exercise across the work week. Their study of almost 10,000 adults found that both “weekend warriors” and those who get their exercise throughout the week showed significantly lower levels of abdominal and overall body fat compared to those who were inactive. The scientists did note, however, that the weekend warriors’ workout was of higher intensity and longer duration. (Now, why would someone want to ruin a perfectly good weekend by being a “warrior”?)
❑ A University of Texas study found that young women (and men) who wore high heels for several months began walking differently – in a good way. Contrary to widespread beliefs about wearing heels, those in the study were found to become better, more-efficient walkers – not only when wearing heels, but also in flats. The researchers believe that high heels could be used as a “training tool” for those with mobility issues, or for athletes or others who wish to be able to move faster and with more ease. Some test subjects, however, also complained of “squished toes”, and were found to have shorter calf muscles and stiffer Achilles tendons. (Poor traction on ice, too!)

DATE UPDATE:
How much are you willing to spend on a first date? If you fall in the age category of Gen Z or millennial, chances are the answer is about $50, maximum. British fashion retailer PrettyLittleThing found that 60% of Gen Zers said they wouldn’t spend more than $50 on a first date, and a whopping 96% of millennials said they also wouldn’t spend more than that. An experts said this frugal dating trend is part of the younger generation’s move toward experiences rather than material items, noting: “You can set up a romantic dinner date under the stars at a beautiful park for less than $50, and have the most extraordinary experience.” It’s also an indicator of the financial realities that many Gen Z and millennials face.
(I’m confused: Is that $50 before or AFTER the coupon?)
(Still…50 bucks is a LOT for a coffee and a muffin!)

MOST PAINFUL PLACES TO GET A TATTOO:

☞ Rib cage: Thin skin, little to no fatty tissue between the skin and bones, and lots of nerve endings. (Thank God for my “Moobs”!)
☞ Face and neck: Relatively thin skin and lots of nerve endings. Even more painful on the lips. (Even MORE painful later, when you try to get a job!)
☞ Armpit: Rife with nerve endings, the area also has lymph nodes. This makes them very resistant to needle poking, and very, very sensitive. (Armpit? That’s pretty painful for the tattoo artist, too!)
☞ Hands and fingers: Plenty of nerve endings here, and sensitive to touch.
☞ Also: The outer arm, kneecap, calf, feet and ankles can be painful places to get ink. Not to mention the “unmentionable” places…
(In my experience, I felt the most pain when my father saw it!)

DID YOU KNOW?
A ride-share company is offering a 4-hour tour of Tokyo’s public toilets. The guided Tokyo Toilet Shuttle Tour takes “restroom enthusiasts” through what are referred to as the symbols of Japan’s world-renowned hospitality culture. In 2020, the city embarked on an initiative called Tokyo Toilet. They brought together some of the biggest names in architecture and design to renovate 17 public restrooms, all featured on the tour. BS CHRONOMETER 02.27.24

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Kahlua Day”, celebrating the coffee-flavored liqueur from Mexico that contains rum, corn syrup, and vanilla bean. Mix it with milk and – voila! – a ‘brown cow’.
• “Anosmia Awareness Day” [an-OHZ-me-uh], a day to spread awareness about the loss of the sense of smell. (Which would have come in very handy here in the studio this morning…)
• “International Polar Bear Day”, declared by non-profit conservation group Polar Bears International, to heighten awareness of the declining population of the big white guys of the Far North.
• “World Spay Day”, an annual campaign by the Humane Society to inspire people to save animal lives by spaying or neutering pets and feral cats. LINK: https://www.hsvma.org/world_spay_day
• “No Brainer Day”, when we’re encouraged to slack off. Any activity attempted should be something done without serious thought … a ‘no brainer’ activity. (Like this show, for instance.)
• “Retro Day”, swoop your hair into a mile-high beehive or strut those 8-inch bell bottoms. Can you maximize your curls for a stellar Afro? And don’t hesitate to break out the old roller skates and see if you still have those mad skills.
• “Pokémon Day”, celebrating the release of the first Pokémon video games, “Pocket Monsters: Red” and “Pocket Monsters: Green”, which debuted on this date in 1996. (I could throw in a number of Pokémon jokes here . . . but you’d never catch ‘em all…!)
• “Strawberry Day”, paying homage to one of the most popular fruits in the world. Strawberries are the first fruit to ripen each year, so they are often called the “taste of spring.” The bright red juicy berries are both delicious and incredibly good for you. Each bite is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber. (***BS FUN FACT: The average strawberry has 200 seeds***)
