BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ And the Oscar host duties go to — Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall. They will host the 94th Oscars on March 27. It’s been 35 years since as many as 3 people hosted Hollywood’s biggest night, and never have that many women held the emcee position in a single evening. Each host will anchor a separate hour, with Schumer leading things off. The Oscars telecast is coming off its lowest-rated telecast since it first hit the air in 1953.

★ Julia Fox has made her New York Fashion Week runway debut after splitting from Kanye West. The “Uncut Gems” actress walked the autumn/winter 2022 show for LaQuan Smith Monday. She opened the show wearing a tight, black dress with a cleavage-teasing cutout and white heels. Fox’s runway moment comes shortly after her rep said the couple called it quits after dating since early 2022, but remain good friends. In a since-deleted Instagram post, Fox wrote: “I have love for him but I wasn’t in love w(ith) the man.”

★ Wendy Williams is denying accusations about the state of her mental health following her bank freezing her accounts and requesting the New York Supreme Court determine whether the TV personality, who has been on hiatus from “The Wendy Williams Show” since July, is “incapacitated” and needs a temporary guardianship. Last week, it was reported that she won’t be returning to her talk show this season, and the future of her show remains in flux, with a new Sherri Shepherd talk show being mentioned as a possible replacement. A statement from Williams’ attorney says: “Wendy wants the world to know that she strenuously denies all allegations about her mental health and well-being.”

★ Trevor Noah, the host of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, will be the featured entertainer for the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on April 30. It’ll be the first time the event, usually held annually, will take place since the start of the pandemic. The dinner is normally attended by prominent journalists, politicians and celebrities, and raises money for scholarships. Although former President Trump skipped the annual dinner during his term, it is expected that President Biden will attend. Noah is also scheduled to host this year’s Grammy awards, on April 3.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Rihanna – promises that new music is still on the way, even though she recently announced she’s expecting her first child. She didn’t say when we’ll hear new music, but she did say this: “You’re not gonna expect what you hear, just put that in your mind. Whatever you know of Rihanna’s not gonna be what you hear.” By the way, her main food craving so far is donuts.
• Ed Sheeran – He’s teaming up with British rockers Bring Me the Horizon once again to release a re-recorded, hard rock version of ‘Bad Habits’ this Friday, following their genre-bending performance of the song at the 2022 Brit Awards on Feb. 8. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/ycx4wcnf
• James Blunt — Most artists are proud to be able to attract a crowd, but he is hoping he can do the opposite. After protesters gathered in Wellington, New Zealand last week to rally against vaccine mandates, authorities tried to disperse them by blasting songs by Barry Manilow and ‘Macarena.’ Blunt took note, tweeting at New Zealand police: “Give me a shout if this doesn’t work.”
• Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson – will host the upcoming NBC music competition series “American Song Contest”. The show will feature performances of new songs by artists representing all 50 U.S. states, plus 5 territories and Washington, D.C. America’s answer to the Eurovision Song Contest will premiere on March 21 and run for 8 weeks.
• The Who — Pete Townshend says he’s ready to “moan” in public about the upcoming Keith Moon biopic if he doesn’t like it, but doesn’t see a situation where he’d block it. The project has been fostered by the Who’s singer, Roger Daltrey, for many years, and it was recently confirmed to be going into production.
• Marvin Gaye – His music is legendary for putting people “in the mood”, so why not monkeys, too?  The furry residents of macaque habitat at the Trentham Monkey Forest in England, were treated to a performance of some of Gaye’s soulful classics by impersonator. David Largie, in an effort at putting the endangered species in the mood for breeding.
• Granger Smith — took to Instagram announced that he’ll appear in the movie “Moonrise”, which he just finished filming. He explained that the film is “about a country singer who lost his wife and struggles to find purpose, redemption, forgiveness…and ultimately the ability to love again.” He’s currently working on music for the soundtrack.
• Jason Aldean – Monday, he announced his 2022 “Rock n’ Roll Cowboy Tour” named after the recently released song from his forthcoming “Macon” album. Kicking off July 15 in Scranton PA, the tour will include 34 shows before wrapping Oct. 29 in Wichita KS.
• Mickey Guyton – not only performed the National Anthem at the Super Bowl on Sunday at Inglewood CA’s SoFi Stadium, she also ran into a royal. Guyton posted a photo of herself with Prince Harry. Her caption said: “He was just lovely. I even curtsied in my track suit.”

SHOOTING THE BULL

SQUID WORD:
Last year, “Squid Game” was the most-watched Netflix show out there…not to mention one of the most-searched internet queries. And now, a real-life experience has been created in Saudi Arabia. The city of Riyadh is home to the giant Squid Game experience, the first of its kind in the world, where players are able to take part in all 6 trials from the series: Red Light, Green Light; the tug of war; the marbles game; the glass hopping challenge; the honeycomb game; and the final showdown – the “Squid Game” itself. 70 players take part at a time, with each of them receiving invite cards and wearing costumes identical to the TV series. But if you’re worried that, like on the show, participants are killed if they fail to complete the challenges, don’t sweat it – this version of Squid Game is much safer. For example, on the stepping stone game, instead of glass panels that shatter, causing the player to plummet to their death, they have sensors, and the tug of war set is just 3 meters high. Fake deaths or not, the Squid Game is, of course, very popular, and said to be sold out most days. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2p963f77
(I haven’t seen the show, but just to be clear…does the Squid Game champion win the “Suction Cup”?)
(No Squidding!)
(Somehow, I just can’t see this one coming to Disney parks…)

WEIGHT A SECOND:
Well, so much for THAT excuse. If you’re one of those people who claim they haven’t got time to work out, guess what? A new study found that lifting weights for as little as THREE SECONDS a day can have a positive impact on your muscle strength. Researchers in Australia and Japan found that performing a single bicep curl at maximum effort can lead to a 10% increase in muscle strength in one month. The team studied 39 college students who performed one muscle contraction at max effort for 3 seconds a day, for 5 days a week over 4 weeks. The lead researcher said in a release: “Many people think you have to spend a lot of time exercising, but it’s not the case. Short, good quality exercise can still be good for your body, and every muscle contraction counts.”
(I wish they did this study when I was in college. Then, at least I would’ve been able to say I put maximum effort into SOMETHING!)
(College students? What kind of beer do you think they were lifting?)

YET ANOTHER WORD ABOUT WORDLE:
Some Wordle fans would like to have a wordle with the New York Times. Since the newspaper’s purchase of the popular brain game last month, many players think it has become “too hard”, according to a viral Twitter thread. One disillusioned Wordler wrote: “Ever since NYTimes bought Wordle, the game got a lil too hard. I ain’t playing no more. this embarrassing score.” The same person added: “I had to use two diff. browsers for extra guess and still barely got the word.” Another wrote: “Good morning to everyone except…the staff at the New York Times, their families, friends, pets and acquaintances.” Another puzzled player posted: “The nyt made wordle too hard i feel stupid now.” One more? “Today’s Wordle should be used to punish war criminals, that was so hard.” Despite all this, the newspaper claims not to have made any changes to make Wordle more difficult. Coincidentally, The New York Times also features arguably the hardest crossword puzzle of any publication.
(So . . .  players are at a loss for Wordles?)
(And these aren’t stupid people. I mean, that idea about using 2 different browsers – brilliant!)
(Come to think of it, I’ve seen a lot fewer people posting their Wordle scores lately…could be why!)

HOW TO LIVE 13 YEARS LONGER:
Changing what you eat could add up to 13 years to your life, according to a newly published study. It found that lifespan can be increased by eating few red and processed meats, and more fruits and vegetables, legumes, whole grains and nuts. Here’s how to make changes to your diet — almost painlessly . . .
☞ Track your eating habits:  Many of us eat mindlessly, and aren’t aware of all that we put into our mouths. Write down everything for a day, and include reasons for what and when you eat. Look for small improvements that you can make to your diet.
☞ Plan for Success:  Pack healthy lunches and snacks. Stocking up on healthy staples you can turn to on a busy night is another way to boost your successful transition to healthier eating.
☞ Remove sugar from breakfast:  This has a ton of benefits – including keeping blood sugar level, and keeping energy and creativity high – and it sets the tone for the day. (Coffee excluded, right?)
☞ Make one meal meatless:  Lunch might be best. Replace meat with a plant- or grain-based choice, which will help you through the afternoon slump, and reduce overeating at night,
☞ Eat what you love:  In moderation, of course, or find a healthy substitute. If you love barbecue, roast some cauliflower with barbecue rub. Delicious!
(This all sounds logical. And I’m sure sticking to it would make me live longer – if it weren’t for my crippling Canadian maple donut habit!)

DID YOU KNOW?
The 2022 Winter Olympics may end up being called the “Olympics on a budget.” The Beijing Winter Games has an estimated budget of $3.9 billion, according to a study by WalletHub. That may sound like a lot, but it’s just one-fourteenth the money spent on the record-setting 2014 Sochi Games. Estimates show ad revenue for the 2022 games will bring in around $600 million. That’s a 10% drop from the 2018 Winter Games. But the numbers aren’t down in EVERY area . . .at this year’s games, American gold medal winners will not only bask in the pride of their country, they’ll also cash in – to the tune of $37,500. Bringing home silver comes with a bonus of $22,500, while a bronze medal nets a respectable $15,000 bonus.
