BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Developments continue to swirl in the curious case of “Empire” star Jussie Smollett, who allegedly staged his own racist and homophobic attack. Fox has already confirmed that Smollett’s character will be written out of the season’s final two episodes—and new reports suggest that creator Lee Daniels may be pursuing a radical option for next season. Empire has not formally been renewed for a sixth season—though Fox is expected to confirm an order before long—and recasting would take place in advance of Season 6 production.

★ Jude Law is reportedly set to wed his long-term girlfriend Phillipa Coan on May 19. His son Rafferty, who is an actor and model, has been handed the honor of being best man. Guests expected to attend the bash include Jude’s close friends Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Brad Adams and Sean Pertwee.

★ Rami Malek immediately learned that with great highs come great lows when he fell from the stage following his Oscar win for Best Actor. Moments after the “Bohemian Rhapsody” star scored the top award on Sunday night, he fell and was treated by paramedics. It’s unclear how he landed, but he seemed OK after being helped to his feet. It was a big night for Malek, who won his first Academy Award for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury. “Bohemian Rhapsody” did very well during the awards show, ending up with 5 trophies.
(Another one bites the carpet?)

★ Melissa McCarthy is excited for Jason Reitman’s upcoming “Ghostbusters” reboot, despite confirmation the movie will ignore her all-female 2016 revamp. She says that she spoke with Reitman and “he’s just always had this idea, and his goes back to the world where the guys did exist and I’m like, ‘I want to see that’. I’m all for it.” ‘McCarthy’s comments come after Reitman – who will be at the helm 36-years after his father Ivan directed the first two films in the series – said that he has ”nothing but admiration” for the 2016 remake.

★ Khloé Kardashian is not happy about rumors she might be heading to “The Bachelorette” after her breakup from Tristan Thompson. She responded to the rumors after ‘Bachelor’ and ‘Bachelorette’ creator Mike Fleiss continued to tease the possibility that she would headline her own season of the reality dating series on Twitter, even after Kim Kardashian West shut down the rumors.
(I’m going to say that’s a bargaining tactic…)

★ Beverley Owen, who originally played Marilyn in “The Munsters”, has died. She passed away at home in Vermont last Thursday after battling ovarian cancer. According to reports, she was diagnosed in January 2017 and had kept it private.

IN-FLIGHT MONITOR:
Three of the world’s biggest airlines have admitted that some of their planes have cameras installed on the backs of passenger seats. American Airlines, United Airlines and Singapore Airlines have new seat-back entertainment systems that include cameras. Why? Not to spy on you, or so they say. The companies that make the entertainment systems are including cameras in order to offer passengers options such as seat-to-seat video conferencing. But all three airlines claim they have never activated the cameras and have no plans to use them. This all came to light when a passenger on a Singapore flight tweeted a photograph of the seat-back display, prompting other air travelers to voice their concerns about privacy. Many on social media pointed out that if that if the cameras are not in use, it would be appropriate to cover the lenses with stickers.
(Surely you can’t be serious…)
(That’s got to be some exciting viewing. All we need is a pilot who is bored to sleep…)

A FRIEND INDEED:
In spite of the fact that some people seem particularly proud of the fact that they have a thousand Facebook friends, or 2,000 or whatever followers on Instagram, according to a study published in Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology, it is much healthier to have a few close friends than to have many friends who you do not necessarily know well. In layman’s terms, the quality of the relationships that people have is far more important than the number of contacts they have on their phones. In fact, the perceived quality, not the quantity, of interpersonal connections was associated with good or poor mental health. These close bonds are linked not only with a person’s physical and mental health, but also directly associated with one’s longevity.
(I’m not sure if it’s a good or a bad feeling that somewhere, some dude is dying early because he’s not hanging out with me!)
(When I think of some of the things my friends and I have done together, a longer and healthier life isn’t the first result that comes to mind…)

Dying the shell red covered up imperfections and stains. But today, a more mechanized harvesting process means that the nuts are picked, hulled and dried before the shell has a chance to become stained or marked, so there is no need to dye them.
