Bullseye!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:

★ Billie Joe Armstrong’s stolen ‘62 Chevy Nova has been found unscathed in Southern California — prompting the Green Day singer to share a celebratory selfie and thank you message. The beloved classic car that Armstrong called “near and dear” to his punk band’s “family” for 3 decades was recovered about 10 miles from where it was stolen sometime between last Friday afternoon and Saturday morning from a commercial address in Costa Mesa, California. In his IG message, Armstrong wrote: “False alarm.. turns out I forgot where I parked it… KIDDING! Truth is the person that stole it left it parked…No damage. Thank you thank you to everyone that searched for my Chevy. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yr25j8p6

★ Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green are officially divorced — 2 years after they split. A judge signed off on their final divorce settlement on Tuesday. The exes, who share 3 children, reached an agreement in October but were waiting for it to be ‘officially official’. They previously agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their children, and reportedly did not have a prenup. She’s changing her legal name back to Megan Fox from Megan Green. The two, who married in 2010, had long ago parted ways — and moved on romantically. She’s engaged to rock star Machine Gun Kelly, and Green is expecting a child with “Dancing With the Stars” pro Sharna Burgess.

★ “Jeopardy!” champion Amy Schneider is quitting her day job. Since her historic run on the show, Schneider has decided to leave her job as a software engineer. The move comes after she amassed over $1.3 million in prize money, and achieved the second-highest winning streak in the show’s history. She shared the news on Twitter, noting that she’ll be taking on a “new challenge” as she embarks on a different career path.

★ Fox Entertainment has announced that the network has acquired all rights to ‘Gumby’, ‘Pokey’ and all their friends, from the estate of Joseph Clokey, whose father, Art, created the iconic claymation character in 1953. The acquisition includes the full library of existing Gumby animated shows, specials, movies and content, which currently air on Fox-owned Tubi. “The Gumby Show,” aired from 1955-68 and “Gumby’s Adventures” launched in 1988. “Gumby: The Movie” hit theaters in 1995. • Adele — won the top 3 prizes (song, artist and international artist) at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday, in the first genderless edition of Britain’s pop music honors. But she drew fire from some critics after declaring in an acceptance speech that she “loves being a woman.” That led to her being branded a TERF — or trans-exclusionary radical feminist — online.
• Rita Ora — has joined the cast of the Disney+ “Beauty and the Beast” prequel series. She’ll play “a fugitive with surprising abilities who carries with her a secret that could potentially affect an entire kingdom,” according to the show’s logline. Production begins this spring.
• Iggy Pop – is a joint recipient of the 2022 Polar Music Prize. The punk legend and the French chamber orchestra Ensemble intercontemporain will each receive one million Swedish Kroner ($110,600) as part of the honor. The prestigious prizes will be handed out on May 24 in Stockholm.

Block, whose “Welcome to the Block Party” album drops today, says that watching Clarkson on “American Idol” was an important part of her teen years. Quote: “I am going to tell her that she changed my life with ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ and ‘A Moment Like This.’ I’m going…be like, ‘I have been dreaming for a moment like this!'”
• LOCASH — pay homage to the band that set the soundtrack for summer with their next single ‘Beach Boys’, featuring The Beach Boys’ co-founder Mike Love and longtime member Bruce Johnston. SUPER BOWL MONEY:
It’s no secret that half the attraction of the big game on Sunday is the halftime show. Well, the halftime show…AND the food, but stay with me here. So, you must be thinking that the artists who perform at the Super Bowl (in this year’s case, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem, along Mary J. Blige) are being paid a ton of money. Not the case at all. In December, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told The Pioneer Woman website: “There is not an appearance fee. But the artists are paid union scale.” However, the NFL is still spending some serious cash on the show. It covers the cost of production and other expenses. In 2020, it was reported that the halftime show then cost about $13 million to produce. OK, so what about the players? THEY must be paid a fortune, right? Nope. At least not by THEIR standards: Each player on the winning team will earn $150,000, while players on the losing team will each be paid $75,000.
(My Uncle Ralph is set to make more than that through his bookie!)
(But, hey, at $6.5 million for a 30-second spot, the league can afford it!)

SWEETHEART SURPRISES:
⇒ If your Valentine “hearts” pizza, you might be interested in this: Pizza Hut has brought back its famous heart-shaped pizza for another year. Available through Feb. 14, you can also get the pizza as part of a meal that includes a chocolate dessert, either the ultimate chocolate chip cookie or a triple-chocolate brownie. (Yes, it IS the cheesiest way possible to celebrate Valentine’s Day. But also the chocolatey-est, so why not?) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2p8z34zk
⇒ Just in time for Valentine’s Day, KFC has introduced its biggest sandwich ever – but you can’t eat it. To celebrate the season of romance, the restaurant is offering up the “KFC Chicken Sandwich Snuggler”, a nearly 3-foot (91cm) pillow plushie that they say is the perfect gift for the Valentine who craves something cuddly. Designed in partnership with Pillow Pets, a brand known for its fun and nostalgic stuffed companions, the KFC Chicken Sandwich Snuggler looks good enough to eat. All layers of the famous chicken sandwich are replicated here, from its realistic looking double-breaded, extra crispy chicken breast filet to its buttery brioche bun and pickles. There’s even the mayo, if you look closely enough. A limited number are available…as long as you’re willing to invest $99.99 on something like this for your Valentine! NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A Home Depot store is out $400,000 after an employee replaced cash with play money. Police say the store, in Tempe, AZ, discovered the fake money in December. It was purchased on Amazon where it is listed as “prop money” for use in videos and as party decorations. The employee, Adrian Pineda, was responsible for counting the cash in the store’s registers, and then putting it in a bag for bank deposit. Pineda was caught on surveillance cameras allegedly subbing out the real money for fake stuff over a period of almost 4 years. He admitted the plan to a manager, according to the complaint. (He says he wanted to stop earlier, but couldn’t find anyone in the store to help him…)
➢ A Hawaiian couple received a whopping $18,000 electric bill last month after their electric company claimed they were responsible for paying for their neighborhood streetlights. Desha-Ann and Rashann Kealoha received a letter from the Hawaiian Electric Company, saying they were the legal owners of the street and were therefore responsible for an outstanding balance of $17,860.09, which was currently more than $18,000 due to “several years of unpaid invoices”. The couple say this was the first time the’ve heard that they “own” the lights, and reached out to their realtor, who looked into the matter. A spokesperson for the electric company now says it does not expect the couple to pay the balance, but is working with the city of Waianaco to track down whoever should be responsible for paying the bill. (The lights are burning bright . . . but nobody owns ‘em?)

DID YOU KNOW?
Americans consume more food on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year, except Thanksgiving, according to a 2020 report from the United Food and Commercial Workers union. But this year, putting out a Super Bowl spread is expected to cost 8-14% more because of inflation. And as you may have already guessed, Americans wager more money on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year. The American Gaming Association estimates that a record 31.5 million people in the US will bet a total of about $7.6 billion on the big game. (And that’s just the LEGAL gambling!)

BS CHRONOMETER 02.11.22

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day”, an annual reminder that everyone screws up now and then. It’s a day to be optimistic, think positive, look on the bright side, and find something good in whatever happens. (Also, a good day to argue whether the correct term is ‘spilled’ or ‘spilt’)
• “Get Out Your Guitar Day”, today, pull your axe out of the attic, dust it off and, if you’re lucky, find someone who can tune it.
• “Inventors Day”, honoring the birth date of prolific inventor Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931), who single-handedly patented 1,200 inventions.
• “Pro Sports Wives Day”, the 17th annual, declared by the Professional Sports Wives Association. In the USA alone, there are at least 500,000 married to pro athletes and coaches.
• “Satisfied Staying Single Day”, for those who choose to live independently and are quite happy doing so, thank-you very much. (Imagine being single on Valentine’s Day. Ha! The joke’s on you, I don’t have to imagine!)
• “Shut-in Visitation Day”, encouraging us to brighten the day for someone who is unable to get out and about.

SATURDAY-
• “Darwin Day”, commemorating the birth of Charles Darwin on this date in 1809, and to highlight his contribution to science. (I understand he wasn’t always an evolutionist–he slowly became one over time…)
• “Lincoln’s Birthday”, celebrating the birth of the 16th president of the USA (1861-65). The “President’s Day” holiday (Feb. 21 this year), honors the birthdays of both Presidents Lincoln and Washington.
• “Lost Penny Day”, set aside to collect all of those wasted pennies stashed in jars and drawers around the house and donate them to charity. (Because a penny saved is … a waste of time.)
• “National Freedom to Marry Day”, a non-official US occasion to promote same-sex marriage. It was founded in 1999 by Lambda Legal, a gay rights advocacy law firm.
• “Paul Bunyan Day”, celebrating the gigantic lumberjack who was “born” on this date in 1834, according to American folklore. The story says it took 5 giant storks to deliver Paul to his parents. His first bed was a lumber wagon pulled by a team of horses. As an adult, Bunyan and his blue ox ‘Babe’ travelled around country, where he became known for his logging feats.

SUNDAY-
• “Galentine’s Day”, invented by Amy Poehler on “Parks & Recreation” as a chance to get your best gals together (friends, mom, coworkers, etc.) and revel in being female. Quote: “We need to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn’t matter, but work is third.”
• “Kiss Day”, Today, partners express their love for each other by kissing them. (As opposed to what they would do any other day?) Ingrid Bergman said, “A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous.” (In other words, “Shut up and kiss me.”)
• “World Radio Day”, a UN observation to remember the unique power of radio to touch lives and bring people together across the globe. (Shouldn’t we get the day off or something?)
• “Get a Different Name Day”, to give us the opportunity to pick one we’d really like. (***Find listeners with really odd names and ask them what nickname they’d like to be called***)
