Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Kim and Kanye’s 7-year-old daughter North West has received a personal invitation from the team at the Bob Ross Experience, thanks to her recent landscape painting. Sarah Strohl—an executive assistant at Rob Ross Inc.—says they were “thrilled” when they saw North’s painting, which drew comparisons to the late artist and “Joy of Painting” host. As a result, North has now been invited to pay a visit to the Bob Ross Experience museum in Muncie, Indiana. That includes a chance to get a close look at a collection of Ross’ paintings, plus a special class focused on his revered wet-on-wet painting technique from a certified instructor. North hasn’t yet been confirmed to have accepted the invitation.

★ How about another Britney Spears documentary? News has surfaced that Netflix is working on its own project about the pop star, hoping to compete with Hulu’s popular doc “Framing Britney Spears.” This isn’t the first time the 2 streamers have gone to war over buzzy documentaries. In 2019, Netflix and Hulu released films within days of each other about the ill-fated “Fyre Festival”.

★ Larry King’s widow, Shawn King says she was blindsided by last week’s revelation that he had a secret will that didn’t mention her — and she says she’s preparing to fight it vigorously in court. Press reports emerged that King, who died last month, wrote a handwritten amendment to his will in 2019, leaving his $2 million estate to his five children. It notably omitted his estranged wife.

★ The Gremlins are wreaking havoc once again. On Monday, Mountain Dew debuted an ad for their sugar-free drink, starring Gizmo from the ’80s classic “Gremlins”. The ad also features original star Zach Galligan reprising his role as ‘Billy Peltzer’, shown sitting on the couch with the furry creature who REALLY wants a sip of that Mountain Dew. Letting Gizmo take a drink turns out to be a big mistake, however, resulting in his fur immediately starting to pop off his back.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• The Weeknd – His new hits collection “The Highlights” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. Morgan Wallen’s “Dangerous: The Double Album” has dropped to #2 after 4 weeks at the top.
• Miley Cyrus – received a Valentine’s Day shout-out from MMA fighter Julian Marquez. After winning his match, he said on TV: “I’ve been waiting 31 months to get on this mic…this is my time to shine. So, Miley Cyrus — will you be my Valentine?” Cyrus quickly responded on Twitter, writing: “Shave an MC into your chest hair and I am YOURS”
• 6ix9ine – Karam Gill, the director of an upcoming docuseries about him, isn’t a big fan. Quote: “The public and media hates him because he is truly a horrible human being who has done terrible things.” He went on: “He loves to instigate and aggravate, which is something that naturally sparks a reaction.” Showtime’s 3-part series “Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine” debuts this Sunday.
• Machine Gun Kelly – For Valentine’s Day, he shared an Instagram post saying he carries some of Megan Fox’s blood in a necklace. He posted a gallery that included emojis such as a red rose, a blood drop and a knife, with the words: “i wear your blood around my neck” and “My bloody valentine. (Does this remind anyone of Angelina and Billy Bob?)
• The Who — have cancelled their planned March tour of the UK and Ireland. They had already postponed the original tour from March 2020 as COVID-19 forced hundreds of artists to cancel their shows. In a statement, they apologized for the late notice, saying they “wanted to wait as long as possible to see if we could indeed play them.”
• Neil Young – On March 26, he’ll release the concert film and live album “Young Shakespeare”. It features previously unreleased footage from a 1971 performance at The Shakespeare Theater in Stratford, Connecticut, his earliest known concert footage.
• Brandy Clark — is celebrating the one-year anniversary of her “Your Life is a Record” album with the release of a deluxe edition, out March 5. It will feature 6 bonus tracks including the new song ‘Remember Me Beautiful’, and collaborations with Brandi Carlile and Lindsey Buckingham. Clark will perform her first ticketed livestream concert on March 6.
• Luke Bryan – says the worst part of shooting “American Idol” during the pandemic is that there is no hugging allowed. He told People: “The fact that me and Lionel and Katy can’t walk out there and do the human element — hug and show support and love, is very, very tough.”
SHOOTING THE BULL
NINE LIVES AND TEN YEARS:
Larry the Downing Street Cat, a kitty employed to keep the British prime minister’s office and residence free of mice, is celebrating 10 years on the job. The cat, known as the “Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office”, has been patrolling the inside and outside of 10 Downing Street, the headquarters of the British government and the prime minister’s official residence, for 10 of his 14 years, marking his official anniversary Monday. Larry was adopted from a shelter 10 years ago, and has served under three different prime ministers: David Cameron, Theresa May and Boris Johnson. He was “appointed” to his current position after a large black rat was spotted near the Cabinet Office during a live television broadcast.
(You’ll also notice that no angry mobs have descended upon 10 Downing Street during Larry’s watch, either!)
(Congrats! I sent a gift via Upspspspspspspspspspsps!)
(We’re not sure if he has ever actually caught one…or if he just taught them to hide very effectively…)

CORONAUPDATE:
➢ While many kids aren’t complaining about the school days they have missed during the pandemic, their parents see a bigger problem. A new survey finds almost 70% of parents believe spending a year in lockdown will have a lasting impact on their child’s social development. The OnePoll survey of 2,000 parents with children ages 2-18 found that of the 69% who say they’re worried about their children in lockdown, the top concern is that it’ll be more difficult for their child to connect with people in-person in the future (52%). Forty-four percent of parents feel it’ll be more difficult for their child to play or make friends after being separated from their peers for so long. And 72% believe that during 2020, their child was lonelier than ever before. (On the other hand, time spent in detention is WAAAY down!)
➢ The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is literally providing a breath of fresh air to people receiving the coronavirus vaccine. Officials say people who get fully vaccinated no longer need to quarantine at home if they are exposed to a person with the virus. In some areas, government officials have ordered residents to quarantine for two weeks just for traveling to the “wrong” states. These new recommendations, released last week, apply to those who are within the first 3 months of receiving their final COVID-19 vaccine dosage. (I would have a vaccine joke here, but too many people won’t get it…)

FROM THE BS POLL VAULT:
A statistical breakdown of life by the numbers …
• 60% of us have stopped a dinner conversation in order to take a picture of their food.
• 40% of adults have been mad at someone for something they did in a dream.
• 22% of women say they have given a man a fake phone number.
• 34% of men admit they have never changed a diaper.
• 54% of us have no idea how to replace our car’s windshield wipers.
• 60% of women say they are willing to kiss a guy on the first date if he talks about his mother.
• 34% of us admit that we’ve drank an adult beverage while at work!
GRAMMATICAL MISTAKES THAT MAKE YOU LOOK “POORLY”:
✗ “Should of” instead of “should have”: “Should of,” “could of,” and “would of” are not expressions. In fairness, should of sounds a lot like should’ve, a contraction of “should have.” But don’t let the speedy pronunciation fool you—the only correct expression is “should(/could/would) have.”
✗ Lay vs. lie: they’ve been confusing us for centuries, in part, because lay is the past tense of lie, and laid is the past tense of lay. Remember: You lie down, but you lay something down.
✗ Me vs. I: If I am doing the action, then use ‘I.’ If I’m not doing the action or if I’m being acted upon, I’ll use ‘me.’ For example, ‘Larry hit the ball to me or I?’
✗ It’s vs. its: Yes, an apostrophe usually indicates possessive form. Apostrophes also link two words together in a contraction. A common error uses the contraction “it’s” (which means “it is”) as the possessive form of “it.” For the possessive form of “it,” there’s no apostrophe required. (I’ll never get it’s right…)
✗ Effect vs. affect: “Affect” is usually going to be a verb, and “effect” is usually going to be a noun. The best rule of thumb is this: “Affect with an A is an Action” and “Effect with an E is an End-result.” (And “affect” literally means to produce an “effect”, which is just weird.)
✗ There, they’re, and their: The best way to know which one to use is to go to Facebook and see how the word is used. Do the opposite. (They’re you go!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Research shows that having a hobby is linked to lower levels of depression – and may even prevent depression for some. Losing interest and joy in things you normally like doing is one symptom of poor mental health. Known as “anhedonia”, it is one of the first symptoms of depression, and can even be used to predict the severity of depression a person might experience. Some studies have shown that asking patients to take up hobbies such as gardening or art are beneficial for mental health and wellbeing.
