BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Cue the rumor mill!  Jennifer Aniston was surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, as she celebrated her 50th birthday (which was actually yesterday). Though it was no surprise that her party featured some of Hollywood’s biggest names, there was one famous face that really stuck out … her ex-husband Brad Pitt. But he wasn’t the only amicable ex of Aniston’s who showed up for the Saturday night bash. John Mayer, who was famously linked to Aniston in 2008, also made an appearance.

★ “Extra” co-host A.J. Calloway has been suspended by Warner Bros. Television following multiple accusations of sexual assault.  The decision came after multiple women accused Calloway of sexual misconduct in the last year. Last month, two anonymous women claimed that the TV personality had forced himself on them in separate incidents.
-TheWrap
★ Rebel Wilson had her toenails “glued” back on in between filming love scenes for “Isn’t It Romantic”. She stars opposite Liam Hemsworth in the upcoming movie and she tried hard to conceal the pain she was in during their intimate moments after suffering an injury while shooting a stunt.
-MSN
★ “Celebrity Big Brother” contestant Dina Lohan shocked both viewers and her housemates when she admitted to dating a guy for five years that she has yet to meet in person. Not only has she never met the guy, but he won’t even ‘FaceTime’ with her. Lohan is convinced he is not only real but that she is going to marry him someday. It didn’t take long for word to spread that she’s being catfished. Now, her shocking relationship news has caught the eye of a professional in the catfish business: Nev Schulman. The host of MTV’s “Catfish: The TV Show” is now officially on the case.

HAPPY HOURS:
Can you remember the last time you woke up without an alarm clock, feeling refreshed, not needing caffeine? If not, you aren’t alone.  But despite the fact that many people report not getting sufficient sleep, Matthew Walker, professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, and the author of “Why We Sleep”, says that getting a consistent seven- to nine-hours of sleep is the single most effective thing we can do for our brain and body health.  Among the negative effects of skimping on sleep that you may not be aware of:
✓ Increased desire to eat (usually high-calorie snacks).
✓ Reduced effectiveness of weight-loss efforts.
✓ Increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
✓ Reduced physical stamina (10-30%).
✓ Increased risk of physical injury.
✓ Compromised immune system, increased risk of cancer.
✓ Increased risk of all major psychiatric conditions (depression, anxiety, suicidality, etc.)
Scientists have even started lobbying doctors to start “prescribing” a good night’s sleep (but not sleeping pills). Sounds like good advice.
(I’m going to be up all-night thinking about this…)
(I have no problem sleeping.  In fact, I can do it with my eyes closed!)
(What idiot decided to call it “insomnia” and not “resisting a rest”?

REALLY HAPPY HOURS:
Haagen-Dazs has released a line of ice cream flavors that are infused with alcohol.  Not a lot of alcohol — just enough to give your dessert a little kick.  The new boozy flavors include “Bourbon Vanilla Bean Truffle”, “Irish Cream Brownie”, “Rum Tres Leches”, “Stout Chocolate Pretzel Crunch”, “Bourbon Praline Pecan” and “Irish Cream Cookie Squares”.  There is also a non-dairy option available called “Amaretto Black Cherry Almond Toffee”.  Now the bad news: none of these new options will get you very tipsy: they all contain less than 0.5 percent alcohol by volume.  The new boozy ice creams are already available in some stores in the U.S., but will be widely available by April.
(This is nothing new to those of us who like to end our workweeks in the summer with what I like to call a “Scotch float”.)
(And you thought ice cream gave you a headache before…)
(Try saying that “Tres Leches” one after working your way through a pint of it!)

HOW TO SHAKE YOUR BUTT OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING:
(According to a sleep expert…)
➠ Rise with the sun – or cheat:  Sunlight controls your body clock. If you must get up before it is light out, cheat your brain by investing in a “sun-rise” alarm clock, which mimics the sun by gradually increasing light levels in the room.  (Always popular with a spouse who just worked the night-shift…)
➠ Quality over quantity:  A successful wake-up has more to do with the quality of your sleep than the quantity.  A high-quality mattress and pillow will help.  So will leaving phones, pets and anything else that could wake you up during the night, outside of the bedroom.  (My bladder?)
➠ Play music first-thing: Playing music or listening to the radio in the morning will stimulate your brain and help you feel more awake. (And you have to admit, ANYTHING sounds better than that horrifying sound your alarm makes!)
➠ Place your alarm clock far away:  This classic trick forces you to get up and out of bed to shut it off.  (Not if you have good aim…)
➠ Don’t press snooze:  It actually makes you feel worse when you eventually drag yourself out of bed because going back to sleep prepares your body for another sleep cycle. (But it feels SO good at the time!)
(Of course the most effective way to force yourself from bed is hearing the dog’s “20 seconds to puke” warning…!)

DID YOU KNOW?
A 12-year Costco employee reported that in his tenure there, receipt-checkers stationed at the exit doors prevented theft a grand total of zero times.  They did, however, discover an overcharge or undercharge approximately two times per hour.
