BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Suzanne Somers got quite the scare Friday when her Facebook Live was interrupted by a home intruder. She was filming a makeup video when a man entered her Palm Springs, Calif. home. Somers and her husband Alan Hamel played it cool as they attempted to find out what the intruder wanted, as followers watched in real time. The man, who said he was lost, said he was “not a scary person whatsoever.” Somers told him he “seemed like a nice person,” but needed to leave, and the man said “God bless you” before leaving the property. An unflustered Somers then continued with her video. Police later caught up with the intruder and advised him not to trespass on private property, and didn’t lay any charges.

★ Henry Cavill won’t appear as ‘Superman’ in “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”. Despite mounting speculation that he would don his superhero cape and reprise the role for the upcoming DC Films sequel, sources close to the production have confirmed that Cavill will not appear. Director David F. Sandberg recently admitted that Cavill was supposed to appear in the original Shazam movie, but those plans changed during shooting.

★ One of Kris Jenner’s former bodyguards has added new allegations in his lawsuit against the reality star. Marc McWilliams alleges that Jenner groped him while the two were driving in her Bentley. These new allegations come several months after McWilliams first claimed that he was subject to “a pattern of unwanted and unwelcome sexual advances” and “harassing misconduct” while Jenner employed him.

★ Jamie Dornan says he was so excited to show his daughters his movie “Trolls World Tour” that he spent hundreds of dollars renting it over and over on iTunes before realizing he could have it for free. Quote: “After like a week I got in touch with my agent who was like, ‘Oh, by the way, Universal says there’s a code that you use whenever you want to watch Trolls [World Tour]. I was like, ‘Oh great. I’ve already spent like $300.'”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Cardi B — has once again been accused of plagiarism. After her latest single ‘Up’ was released on Friday, New Jersey rappers Mir Pesos and Mir Fontane accused her of ripping off their September 2020 collaboration, ‘Stuck’. In 2019, Cardi and Lil Nas X were named in a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by two Atlanta producers over their song ‘Rodeo’.
• Machine Gun Kelly – In July, he’ll release a new graphic novel based on his 2019 album “Hotel Diablo”. The story is set at the hotel, which is described in a release as “a waystation for the soul — a place where your deeds in life are the keys to your eternity in the afterlife.”
• Robin Thicke – His upcoming album “On Earth, And In Heaven” (out this Friday) contains the song ‘Lucky Star’, which was influenced by his late dad, actor Alan Thicke. Robin shared a pic of himself visiting Alan on the “Growing Pains” set with the words: “That’s what ‘Lucky Star’ is about. That presence in your life that holds you tight, gives you hope, and lights the way.”
• 3 Doors Down — On March 26, they will release a re-mastered, 20th Anniversary Edition of “The Better Life” album along with the 9-song “Escatawpa Sessions” as a box set on high-quality 3LP vinyl. The “Escatawpa Sessions,” recorded in 1996, features 7 demos and 3 previously unreleased tunes.
• Queen — are considering releasing a recently unearthed recording of one of their first gigs. Brian May found a cassette tape containing the band’s performance at Imperial College London. It is thought the performance took place around 1970.
• Golden Earring — The Dutch rockers known for the classics ‘Radar Love’ and ‘Twilight Zone’ have officially called it quits after 60 years. The decision comes after guitarist and co-founder George Kooymans was diagnosed with ALS.
• Sebastian Bach – says he has finished demoing 14 new songs for his next album. Among the musicians he’s been working with are Orianthi (Alice Cooper, Michael Jackson), John 5 (Rob Zombie, David Lee Roth), and Steve Stevens (Billy Idol).
• Jason Aldean – His latest song ‘Blame It On You’ is turning out to be another big hit, and he can thank his band for it. It was written by his guitar player Kurt Alison and bassist Tully Kennedy, and Aldean says “It was just one of those things that was just really different for the record (“9”) that I thought we were kind of missing.”
• Chris Young — was on the campus of his alma mater, Middle Tennessee State University last week, to unveil a Tennessee Music Pathway marker and cut the ribbon for the grand opening of the Chris Young Café in his hometown of Murfreesboro.
• Nitty Gritty Dirt Band — has released an ensemble rendition of Bob Dylan’s 1964 classic ‘The Times They Are A-Changin’, featuring Jason Isbell, Rosanne Cash, the War and Treaty, and Steve Earle. Proceeds will benefit Feeding America. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/ysemzcz9
SHOOTING THE BULL
FLIGHT OF FANCY:
A South Korean company is selling realistic-looking airplane window lamps to cheer up people who miss traveling. Home & deco store OneRoomMaking is selling the innovative LED airplane window lamp that mimics the view that travelers experience when airborne. It comes in various sizes, and is available in two different models – dawn and sunset, replicating the view at the two different times of day — and the sunset view even includes an airplane wing to make it even more realistic. Prices start at about US $43.
(As long as it looks good on Insta…why not?)
(Yeah that would be the only time I’ve ever looked out an airplane window and didn’t wonder when the washroom was going to be free…)
(…And no safety ponderous demonstration…awesome!)

POSTING-RELATIONSHIP BLUES:
A study says you can tell that a couple is going to break up soon simply by the language they use in the time leading up to the split. And we’re not talking about swearing at each other. The University of Texas at Austin analysis of more than 1 million Reddit posts showed that words people use in conversations across all kinds of subjects shifted significantly, as much as 3 months before the fate of their relationship was decided. What types of changes? They mostly involve pronouns that we use daily. Specifically, the study showed that people start using pronouns “I” and “we” more often in the lead-up to the break-up, as well as words related to cognitive processing – basically indicating the fact that they’re working through stuff. Interestingly, it didn’t matter who was doing the dumping. The changes peak in the week of the break-up, and generally return to normal by 6 months after the split. The scientists also found that there was a clear drop in analytic thinking in the months leading up to a major romantic upheaval.
(Poor timing, that!)
(There’s a chance that when someone uses the pronoun “we” in the months leading to a breakup, they’re not referring to who you THINK they’re referring to!)

THE SCOOP ON THE POOP:
A Kentucky animal shelter is raising funds by offering jilted lovers the chance to have cats do their business on the names of their exes. The Lexington Humane Society says donors can pay $10 to get some “retripootion” for their broken hearts by having their ex’s names inscribed on the inside of litter boxes to be used by the shelter’s cats. In a Facebook post, the shelter said: “Cats can be spiteful creatures, and trust us, they are more than happy to take a #2 on your former #1.” The “Dumps for the Dumped” promotion ends on Friday, but the litter boxes will remain in place until Feb. 15 to ensure they get plenty of use on Valentine’s Day.
(CAT-chy idea!)
(Can you pay extra to have it delivered to your ex?)

INEXPENSIVE SECRETS TO THE PERFECT VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION:
• Bake cookies instead of buying expensive chocolates: Not only are homemade cookies cheap and delicious, but they’ll show you really put an effort into prepping for Valentine’s Day. Get a heart-shaped cookie cutter. (And in my case, a professional housecleaner…)
• Look for restaurant discounts online: Plenty of upscale restaurants offer coupons and discounted gift cards that can be purchased online. (Because nothing says “You mean everything to me” like using a coupon!)
• Cook dinner instead of going out: A homemade dinner is a romantic way to show you care. Grab some candles and make the perfect playlist to make it a romantic night in. (Plus, staying in will get you both used to how it’ll be when you’re married…)
• Plan your day together: A lot of the pressure about Valentine’s Day comes from being unsure of your significant other’s expectations. Making plans together can be just as romantic as planning a surprise. (Plus, if YOU have no idea of what the heck to plan…)
• Enjoy the great outdoors: Go for a hike or a sunset walk. It’s a peaceful Valentine’s option that’ll let you avoid packed restaurants and spend quality time together. (“Thanks for the walk. Have a good night. See ya!” )
• Turn the phone off: The simple act of unplugging our devices can help make the day feel a little more special. Unplugging will let you and your beloved focus on each other, without distractions, no matter what activity you choose. (And when your shakes settle down, you’ll have a wonderful time!)
• Recreate your first date: Whether you’re re-watching the movie you went to see on your first date, or re-visiting the spot where you first met, recreating a relationship highlight is a fun and romantic way to celebrate. (Wait, that wasn’t YOU who went to that movie with me?)

DID YOU KNOW?
New research says that learning to play a musical instrument increases your intelligence by almost 10%. In a 6–month study co-ordinated by DIYS.com, the world’s largest DIY community, 4,700 volunteers chose a new hobby to take up during coronavirus lockdown. The volunteers took an IQ test before and after taking up their chosen hobby. Those who learned to play a musical instrument experienced an average IQ increase of 9.71%. Knitting netted an average IQ increase of 9.68%, exercising 7.37% and reading 7.07%.
(It should be noted that musicians would have averaged even GREATER IQ increases, but some of them chose to become drummers!)
