BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ [***UPDATE***] Kanye West and Bianca Censori are reportedly headed for divorce — days after her naked stunt on the Grammys red carpet. The Daily Mail says it’s “thought” they have verbally agreed that she will get a payment of $5 million following the short marriage, which began in December 2022. A source told TMZ both sides have reached out to divorce attorneys. Another source confirmed that the couple have broken up and that they expect a legal filing to end the marriage in the coming days. The split comes on the heels of Ye and Censori’s controversial appearance at the Grammys and his antisemitic, hateful and misogynistic social media rant, where he declared himself a Nazi and praised Adolf Hitler.

★ John Lithgow is in final talks to play ‘Albus Dumbledore’ in HBO’s upcoming adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” books. Sources have confirmed Lithgow’s contention for the role, though HBO would said: “We will only confirm details as we finalize deals.” In the Harry Potter books and film adaptations, Dumbledore is the caring but mysterious headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, who mentors Harry in his fight against ‘Voldemort’. Lithgow is known for starring in sitcom “3rd Rock Rrom the Sun”, with other roles ranging from the voice of ‘Lord Farquaad’ in “Shrek” to playing ‘Winston Churchill’ in “The Crown”.

★ As he awaits his May trial date for sex-trafficking charges and more, Sean “Diddy” Combs has filed a $100 million lawsuit against NBCUniversal and Peacock over what the rapper calls an “outrageous set of fresh lies and conspiracy theories.” The Bad Boy Records founder is upset about how he was depicted and described in the damning “Diddy: Making of a Bad Boy” documentary that launched January 14 on the streamer. He claims in his suit that the “trusted name in news…made a conscious decision to line their own pockets at the expense of truth, decency, and basic standards of professional journalism.”

CHOCOLATE FORETHOUGHT:
It turns out that storing your Valentine’s Day chocolate in the fridge is a bad idea. Despite the ongoing shortage, experts at Hotel Chocolat advise against trying to make it last by putting what you don’t eat into the refrigerator. When chocolate is exposed to cold temperatures, then brought back to warmth, it could experience “sugar bloom”. That results in discoloration, and can negatively affect its taste, smoothness, and texture. If you insist on refrigerating yours, it’s best to store it in an airtight container. That helps ensure the taste stays pure by preventing surrounding odors and flavors from affecting it. The experts add that ideally, chocolate should be stored in a cool, dry place at room temperature. (That’s cute…they’re talking as if there actually is such a thing as chocolate “leftovers”!)
(I say, if you’re worried about your chocolate absorbing surrounding flavors in the fridge, store it next to the peanut butter. Yum!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ An opossum was treated at a Nebraska animal hospital after wandering into a family’s back yard and gorging itself on an entire chocolate mousse cake from Costco. Kim Doggett of Gretna said the cake had been placed on a table in her backyard because she ran out of room in the fridge. Her son later discovered the opossum curled up on the outdoor sectional, which was covered in chocolate paw prints. Doggett said: “The cake had been knocked off the table…and it was almost gone.” The opossum was not moving, and appeared to be panting. The Humane Society came to the rescue, and reported: “Opossum was brought in due to having eaten an entire Costco chocolate cake.” After veterinarians treated it, they reported: “With some time in rehab (and a diet reset), this choco-holic should be stabilized enough to return to the wild but until then, she is definitely a little cranky about our strict ‘zero chocolate’ policy.” Doggett noticed that many locals were commenting on the post “that this was their spirit animal.” (Man…I’ve been THERE! Costco, I mean, of course. Heh-heh…) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/pzt3fyxp
➢ A family of beavers has become an overnight sensation in the Czech Republic after quickly building a series of dams that the Czech Government had been struggling to build for 7 years. A project to restore water areas in the Brdy Nature Park began in 2018, but authorities had taken forever to get all the required permits and finally get construction underway. The cost of the dams needed to restore the wetlands was estimated at around 30 million Czech crowns, but thanks to the diligent beavers, the Government won’t need to spend a single dime (or whatever the Czech equivalent to a dime is…) Environmentalists monitoring the Brdy area reported that a few beavers took just 2 days to build functional dams in just the right areas. (It would appear that the beavers just said, ‘Hold my log’!)

DATING ICKS:
OK, so maybe you aren’t celebrating Valentine’s Day in the traditional way – by spending it in a special way with your forever love. But maybe you ARE getting together with someone with whom you’d like to make beautiful music together – if you can only impress them enough to make them your Valentine. Well, I’m not here to tell you how to do that – but I can give you a pretty good idea of what NOT to do. According to a poll of 2,000 adults, these are the top 15 “icks” that will scare a potential partner away in the early stages of a relationship…
1. Picking out baby names
2. Talking about moving in together before you’ve seen their home
3. Saying you love them very early on
4. Telling people you’re officially a couple when you’re still at the ‘talking’ stage
5. Calling the other person your ‘soulmate’
6. Asking the other person to meet your parents
7. ‘Chasing up’ texts if the other person doesn’t reply soon enough
8. Leaving a toothbrush at their place after the second date
9. Referring to their pet as “ours” to other people e.g. when walking the dog
10. Filling their social media with pics of you both together
11. Making really elaborate or over the top Valentine’s Day plans
12. Showering them with gifts
13. Putting a couple photo as your phone or laptop home screen
14. Planning a holiday together
15. Changing your relationship status on social media
(I don’t know why she dumped me. I mean…it’s not like I did ALL of those…!)

OLD MESSAGES:
Candy Hearts (or conversation hearts) are a Valentine’s Day staple. You know, the heart-shaped candies that are known for their chalky appearance – and for the sweet messages that come written on each one. Examples: “Be Mine”, or a simple “XOXO”. But several of the sayings stamped on the heart-candies have come and gone with the times. Here are some previously-used Candy Hearts messages that are unlikely to ever see another Valentine’s Day…
✗Beez Neez
✗Dig Me
✗Fax Me
✗Page Me
✗Love Shak
✗Pen Pal
✗23 Skidoo
✗Hep Cat
✗Groovy
✗On Fleek
(No WONDER those things are chalky – They’re so old, they’re turning to dust!)

DID YOU KNOW?
If you’ve ever heard someone say that you couldn’t pay them to go to the gym, they probably weren’t kidding. Researchers at Case Western University in Ohio recruited 836 new gym members for a study on how financial incentives could spur one to exercise more often. Participants were asked to visit their gym 9 times over the course of 6 weeks to receive a small reward. The rewards? They included a $30 Amazon gift card, a useful appliance (like a blender), and a $60 Amazon card. Researchers found that the rewards only increased one’s likelihood to visit the gym by 0.14 visits per week. In fact, during the study, only a third of participants actually visited the gym even once a week. (It turns out that 60 bucks can’t buy motivation — or abs!)

BS CHRONOMETER 02.14.25

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Valentine’s Day”, the most widely celebrated unofficial holiday. A few fun facts …
➠ The Catholic Church recognizes at least 3 different saints named Valentine, all of whom were martyred, one for performing secret weddings for young lovers.
➠ Pope Gelasius declared February 14th “St Valentine’s Day” around 498 AD, in part to replace the ancient Roman fertility festival “Lupercalia”.
➠ It may come as no surprise that Valentine’s Day ranks #1 in terms of the most flowers sold and delivered.
➠ Almost half of all marriage proposals occur on Valentine’s Day.

• “Call In Single Day”, when those not celebrating Valentine’s are encouraged to take a day off work and set aside some time for themselves. Similarly, it’s “International Quirky Alone Day”, a reminder to value yourself, develop individuality, and celebrate the possibilities available to single people.
• “Organ Donor Day”, encouraging us to fill out an organ & tissue donation card and to donate blood. You could save a life! How appropriate that it’s on the day when we give hearts.
• “Have-A-Heart Day”, organized by the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada. Organizers and community members march to the parliament to raise their voices against the discrimination and marginalization faced by the Indigenous people of Canada. It is also an occasion when vegetarians encourage people to stop eating animals.
• “The Inbox Day”, created after a study of office employees found email overload is one of the main problems they face. This day challenges everyone to clean up their email inbox, and to start a new habit of keeping it uncluttered, so the mind can be uncluttered as well. (“Hang on, dear, we’ll go out for Valentine’s Day later. I’ve just got about 2,278 more emails to get through…”)
• “Pet Theft Awareness Day”, promoting awareness of the need for pet protection in public places. (***Here’s how to protect your pooch from being pilfered: https://tinyurl.com/2p9xeuaa***)
• “Ferris Wheel Day”, celebrating the 1860 birth of George Washington Gale Ferris, the Galesburg IL engineer who invented the ‘Ferris wheel’ for the 1893 “Chicago World’s Exposition”. The original wheel measured 250 feet in diameter and could hold 1,440 people.
• “Library Lovers Day”, a day to honor libraries, librarians, bookworms, and library lovers in your life. (Can’t go there today. I’m totally booked!) It is also “Book Giving Day”.
• “No One Eats Alone Day”, a school-based day of action that encourages youth to sit with others, find new friends, and model ways to end social isolation in the lunchroom. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bv39kzxd

SATURDAY:
• “National Flag of Canada Day”, the celebration of Canada’s Maple Leaf flag. It was first unveiled on Ottawa’s Parliament Hill on this date in 1965, replacing the ‘Red Ensign’. The day is marked by flying the flag, occasional public ceremonies, and educational programs in schools. (A new “wrinkle” for this year: https://tinyurl.com/22bcmvvf )
• “Singles Awareness Day”, to provide single people with an alternative to Valentine’s Day festivities. Some consider Singles Awareness Day (sometimes shortened to S.A.D.) the “anti-Valentine’s Day.” (But at least you can celebrate with half-price chocolate!)
• “Gumdrop Day”, honoring the popular, gelatin-based candy which has been a favorite for decades. Nowadays, ‘Gummi’ candies are the most popular incarnation of the gumdrop. (Some “gummies” more than others…)
• “Clementine Day”. Today, be a “darling” and pack a few of these sweet fruits for co-workers, or people you meet…or those who just like to eat.
• “Hippo Day”, celebrating the third largest mammal on Earth. Why not take some time to waddle in a mud bath, get angry with some tourists, and yawn a lot while opening your mouth really-really wide?
• “I Want Butterscotch Day”. The main ingredients are normally butter and brown sugar, but of course there are others. So, what do we do today? Load up on the candies, the fudge and/or baked goods. It’s going to be a sweet day!
• “World Whale Day”, an event started in Maui, Hawaii, in 1980, to raise awareness and to protect these majestic creatures and their habitat.
• “Susan B. Anthony Day”, honoring the 1820 birth of one of the first women’s rights advocates, and the face on the first US dollar-coin that bombed.

SUNDAY:
• “Almond Day”, saluting what’s believed to be one of the earliest cultivated foods. Native to the Middle East, 80% of the world’s almonds are now grown in California. Almonds are one of the most heart-healthy foods, packed with vitamin E, magnesium, and fiber.
• “Do a Grouch a Favor Day”, a day to perform an unexpected good deed to cheer up someone who’s…well…grouchy. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u2KSBq7y-o
• “Innovation Day”. Spot a problem, think of a solution, and before you know it, you’re innovating! Innovation Day is all about imagining new, better ways of doing things.
• “Kyoto Protocol Day”, the anniversary of the 2005 date that the international agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (which contribute to global warming) took effect. (How are we doing so far?) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2furpzy3
• “Tim Tam Day”, A Tim Tam is a treat consisting of 2 chocolate malted biscuits with a fluffy cream filling and dipped in milk chocolate. Creator Ross Arnott (of the Australian biscuit company Arnott’s) attended the Kentucky Derby in 1958, and chose to name his new line of biscuits after the horse that won.
