More From the Sheethouse!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Brie Larson says that she has mentally “deleted” key plot points from the “Avengers: Infinity War” sequel to avoid accidentally leaking spoilers about the highly-anticipated blockbuster. Her role as Captain Marvel in the upcoming film of the same name and in the Avengers sequel are her first projects with Disney/Marvel Studios, who are known for closely guarding all storyline details to avoid spoilers, so Larson says she learned to “erase” her memory as she headed home from the Atlanta, Georgia set each day.

★ Thomas Markle says that he plans to write a book all about his daughter, duchess Meghan Markle. Thomas says his book will include “the good years with my daughter and my fond memories of her growing up.” In case you’ve forgotten, Samantha Markle is also writing a tell-all book about Meghan.
(This could be a royal pain!)
-Cosmopolitan
★ Ewan McGregor is returning to TV to star in a biographical new series about the rise and fall of celebrity fashion designer Halston. McGregor has been cast as the late American fashion guru, full name Roy Halston Frowick, in “Simply Halston”, a limited series chronicling his international success in the 1970s as he established his luxury label in New York City. Halston died in 1990 from AIDS-related health complications at the age of 57.

★ James Wan has slammed the Oscars for failing to acknowledge “Aquaman”. The filmmaker is unhappy that his superhero blockbuster, starring Jason Momoa, wasn’t recognized in the shortlist for special effects honours at the upcoming Academy Awards.  Wan called the snub “a disgrace”, but he added in a very colorful adjective between the words “a” and “disgrace”.  His comment came just a few days after he insisted it was ”OK” for people to not like his DC Comics adventure.

★ A multi-million-dollar lawsuit against CBS has come to a close.  JonBenét Ramsey’s brother, Burke Ramsey has settled his case after suing CBS and producers of “The Case of JonBenét Ramsey” for $750 million over the insinuation made in the docu-series that he bludgeoned his 6-year-old sister to death in the infamous 1996 crime. Terms of Burke Ramsey’s settlement are undisclosed, and the case of JonBenét’s death remains unsolved.

ALL YOU CAN EAT – INTUITIVELY:
Maybe the best New Year’s resolution is to go on a non-diet.  There is a growing movement toward what is called “intuitive eating”.  Intuitive eating isn’t really a plan, nor is it a diet. In a nutshell, it’s eating when you are hungry, stopping when you are full and eating as much as what you want, when you want it. Although it has been around since at least the 1990s, it is gaining popularity as a kickback to all the ‘restrictive’ diets out there which put hard limits on what and when you can consume.  With intuitive eating, the concept is that you tune in to your body’s cues, and by doing so, you eat whatever you want, whenever you want.  And believe it or not, what many have found is that contrary to people’s expectations that they’ll find themselves simply gorging on something like potato chips instead of preparing a proper meal, people eventually realize that they feel better when they eat things like vegetables, and come to a new sense of peace with food and themselves.
(Challenge accepted!)
(Eat what you want, when you want?  Turns out I’ve been eating intuitively for years!)
(Sounds like it might work.  Unless there’s a buffet nearby!

GET LOST:
Yes, the GPS in your car or the navigational app on your smartphone is a handy thing to have.  But have you ever noticed after using one that you get the feeling that you have no idea how you got to where you are?  And that without it, you could never find your way back?  It’s true, it seems.  Research says that the use of GPS devices is making us poorer navigators.  A study found that people are less likely to remember a route when they use guided navigation. And without their device, regular GPS users were found to take longer to negotiate a route, travel more slowly and make larger navigational errors.
(But at least I’ll never have to fold another roadmap!)
(And what does it say about my navigational skills if I still get lost even WITH GPS?)

ONCE-POPULAR BRANDS IN DANGER OF GOING EXTINCT:
✗ Diet Pepsi – Blame millennials.  Diet Pepsi was huge in the 90s, but today’s young adults are opting for healthier drinks like sparkling water.
✗ Crocs – The company has been closing many of its retail stores due to declining sales.  Why?  The simple design makes them easy to copy, making the market flooded with cheaper knockoffs.  (Plus, they last forever…have you ever had to replace a pair?)
✗ Tiffany — The nearly 200-year-old jewelry brand is finding that millennials don’t have much interest in buying rings, bracelets and accessories.  In fact, many young couples are avoiding getting married at all.  (Jewellery seems to have lost its sparkle!)
✗ Campbell’s Soup — The processed ingredients and preservatives in canned soups don’t appeal to health-conscious shoppers, so sales have been sagging.  (But that’s the only thing that I can confidently cook!)
✗ Harley-Davidson:  With millennials using ride-hailing apps and public transportation over personal vehicles, Harley-Davidson could one day be a victim.  Predictions are that motorcycle ridership will continue to fall over the next five years. (Bad choice of words??)
✗ Gap – Apparently their parent company which also owns the Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta chains — is considering closing hundreds of its namesake stores.
✗ Wheaties – The classic breakfast of champions isn’t selling like it used to.  Younger consumers are less likely to buy cereal because they find it too difficult to eat on the go, and prefer things like breakfast burritos, egg sandwiches and smoothies. (Because it takes too long to make…cereal?)
✗ Jell-O — has had trouble responding to current food trends of health, wellness and convenience.  But they aren’t giving up yet…Jell-O’s owner, Kraft Heinz, is trying hard to win over younger consumers. It recently introduced Jell-O Play edible slime, described as a toy you can eat.  (If Jell-O goes, what will I eat before my colonoscopy?)

DID YOU KNOW?
Ramen noodle packages have overtaken cigarettes as the gold standard for trade inside of American prisons. Prisoners use it as currency to hire other inmates for services, like cleaning out their bunk or doing their laundry, or to purchase goods on the black market, like fresh fruits or vegetables.

• “Joygerm Day”, a day to remind people that by being positive and treating people with kindness, they can influence those around them and pass that positive attitude on to others.
