★ Jeremy Renner tweeted he is home from the hospital more than 2 weeks after being seriously injured in a snowplow accident. The Marvel star had been hospitalized since New Year’s Day, following an accident while clearing a driveway near his Nevada home. Monday night, the “Mayor of Kingstown” star replied to a Twitter post from the show, writing, “Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home.” Season 2 of the show premiered Sunday. ★ Sally Field has been named the 58th recipient of SAG-AFTRA’s highest tribute: the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment. Field, who has previously won 2 Oscars, a SAG Award, 3 Emmys, and more, will be presented with the honor at the 29th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony, which will be broadcast live on Netflix’s YouTube channel, on February 26 from the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

★ Details have been announced for a public memorial for Lisa Marie Presley. She’ll be honored at Graceland, her father’s former home, this Sunday. A 9am service has been planned for the front lawn of the Presley family estate in Memphis, Tennessee. The family asks that those who wish to send something do so in the form of a donation to The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation, which offers support to various charitable organizations, especially those focusing on arts, education, and children’s programs.

The “Shahs of Sunset” alum didn’t hold back when Andy Cohen asked him to name the “most overrated” star of the “Real Housewives” franchise. Sorry, Kyle.” He then shared his idea for her replacement: former “RHOBH” cast member Lisa Vanderpump, with whom Richards has feuded for years. Richards’ online response: “Wasn’t his show cancelled? ★ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have responded to Jeremy Clarkson’s latest apology over his recent column in The Sun in which he said he “hates” the Duchess of Sussex. In a tweet via a spokesperson, the couple wrote: “What remains to be addressed is his long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories, and misogyny…it is clear that this is not an isolated incident…” It’s been reported that Clarkson, who makes “The Grand Tour” and “Clarkson’s Farm” for Amazon, won’t be invited to sign another deal with the streamer, following the controversial column.

★ Last week, news broke that Disney is working on a revival of the beloved cartoon “Phineas and Ferb”, and fans are still ecstatic over the news. Disney officially announced the news on Friday at a Television Critics Association panel. Original series creator Dan Povenmire will be overseeing the revival. Disney Branded Television has ordered 40 new episodes of Phineas and Ferb – 2 seasons with 20 episodes each.

• Skrillex – In a series of tweets, he let fans know that 2022 was “The toughest year” of his life, and some festival cancellations and music release delays were due to his mental health. • Gabby Barret – is technically still on maternity leave after welcoming her son, Augustine Boone, in November, but she’s also hard at work on her next album. And she says it will feature a song written by Luke Combs. BAD NAME:
If your last name is “Zoolander”, you probably don’t want to hear this – but scientists are looking into the theory that your last name could play a role in how well you perform in school — AND your overall success in life. According to a study from the University of Colorado Boulder, people whose last initial is among the beginning letters of the alphabet are more likely to see greater achievements, especially in school. You know what’s coming: Conversely, those who have to wait the longest to raise their hand during roll-call are less likely to do well in school — and on the job. Why? According to a co-author of the study: “If your name is at the end of the alphabet, you’re less likely to be identified by teachers as an outstanding student.” Researchers determined that a 10-letter gap holds a weight of about 10%. That means a student whose last name is “Morris” was about 10% less likely to be viewed in a more positive light by a teacher than a classmate whose last name is “Brown.” Fortunately, the effect, called “alphabetism,” seems to affect people mostly in their younger years, including early adulthood, and fizzle later in life.

“HAZARDING” AN OPINION:
With a number of substantial winter storms lately, you may have noticed an increase in drivers who elect to brave their way through the conditions – with their 4-way flashers on. Why? Well, you’d have to ask them. While I’m sure they feel they are increasing their visibility, or sending the signal to other drivers that extra care is needed, but they may be surprised to know that the vast majority of experts advise against the practice. Plus, it’s actually illegal to do so in most US states and Canadian provinces. As pointed out by a specialist in a Reader’s Digest article, drivers should “Realize that in bad weather it is hard enough to see you, but now with no turn signals, other drivers also don’t know where you may be going to.” A Charlotte meteorologist tweeted about driving with hazard lights on after a recent rainstorm: “Please stop! No one knows what you are doing. Are you stalled? Turning left and right? In a funeral procession? Wipers on, lights on, is all you need.” In fact, many experts say if the rain or weather is bad enough to turn on hazard lights, then the driver should assume the conditions are too bad to continue driving the vehicle.
(And besides, the whole idea behind using your 4-way flashers is to signal to others that you need help. You can take that any way you like!)

We keep hearing about our favorite TV shows and movies being “rebooted”, how about our favorite tech devices? Well, wait no further, because the iconic Sony Walkman is back — as a hi-resolution streaming player. The Walkman cassette player was first released in 1979, selling over 500,000 units in its first year. It became a huge leap forward in portable music consumption, eventually selling over 400million units. The new Walkman is available in two models, and Sony says both offer “evolutionary sound” while allowing listeners to download music to the playing card-sized device or stream via Wi-Fi. A new study warns that more than a billion young people are at risk for hearing loss from wearing headphones and earbuds. The findings, published in the journal BMJ Global Health, say the (loud) use of personal listening devices, as well as going to loud live music gigs is placing the younger generation at risk. Currently, more than 430 million people have disabling hearing loss, and young people are especially vulnerable because of the use of these devices. (Kinda makes me question why I chose to do what I do for a living…)
