Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Bryan Cranston is reportedly returning to the “Breaking Bad” franchise to star in a movie sequel to the cult drug drama series. Cranston portrayed chemistry teacher-turned-drug kingpin Walter White in the critically-acclaimed TV show, which ran for five seasons until 2013. Last year, it emerged that series creator Vince Gilligan had written a spin-off film, which he will also direct. The movie, which reportedly has a working title of “Greenbrier”, is currently in production in New Mexico, and will feature other series regulars such as Aaron Paul, Krysten Ritter, Jonathan Banks and Jesse Plemons.

★ Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is teaming up with former WWE universal championship Roman Reigns – but it won’t be in the ring. Johnson announced via his Instagram account that Reigns, real name Leati Joseph Anoa’i, will be making his feature film debut in the upcoming “Fast and Furious” spinoff movie “Hobbs and Shaw.” Reigns, who relinquished his title to battle leukemia, will be taking on the role of Johnson’s brother.

★ Sharon Osbourne wants “Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle to oversee a movie about her life. And she wants it to center on her early life, rather than focus on her relationship with her husband Ozzy Osbourne. Sharon said: ”I don’t want to do another rock and roll, sex, drugs and money movie about a musician. That’s not what I’m doing. There hasn’t been a movie about a woman that actually works on the management side…and somebody that succeeds through the struggle and you come out the other side.” She is said to be working on the biopic after discovering that one was already in the works that she felt didn’t “make sense.”
(Can’t wait for the scene where she bites the head off the guy who bites the head off a bat!)

★ Kate Beckinsale has been hospitalized after suffering a ruptured ovarian cyst. She took to social media Saturday night to share a pair of Instagram shots from inside a hospital, where she was being treated amid the health issue. She wrote: “Turns out a ruptured ovarian cyst really hurts and morphine makes me cry.” She added that she is “so thankful to everyone who looked after’ her.” with the hashtag #wobbly.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Lady Gaga — got in some extra practice for her performance at the Oscars next month. She brought Bradley Cooper on stage during her Las Vegas show on Saturday night, and the two channeled Jack and Ally as they sang their Academy Award-nominated duet ‘Shallow’ from “A Star is Born”.
• Ed Sheeran – has collaborated on a new song with The Game. Sheeran appears on both the intro for The Game’s new album and on the song ‘Gems of Los Angeles’. The two met via Twitter after Sheeran tweeted about Game’s 2012 album “Jesus Piece”.
• Kanye West — filed two separate lawsuits on Friday, one against Jay-Z’s former label Roc-A-Fella Records and another against EMI, over unpaid publishing royalties. A source says there is no dispute between Kanye and Jay-Z.
• Queen — Brian May apologized after seemingly defending ousted “Bohemian Rhapsody” director Bryan Singer. A follower on May’s Instagram account suggested that he should unfollow Singer because of the claims against him, May replied, “You need to look after your own business and stop telling me what to do.” He later apologized, writing: “I’m so sorry that I responded to your post so snappily and inconsiderately. You were actually just trying to protect me, for which I thank you.”
• Tom Petty – His “Full Moon Fever” album will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The Recording Academy chose it and 24 others for their “qualitative or historical significance.” Also up for honors: Aerosmith’s ‘Walk This Way’ and Jackson Browne’s self-titled debut album.
• Bob Dylan – His song ‘Blowin’ in the Wind is featured in Budweiser’s 2019 Super Bowl commercial. The ad highlights the beer maker’s commitment to environmentally friendly brewing. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKDA2HVlgko
• Metallica – Covered Loretta Lynn’s 1971 hit ‘You’re Lookin’ at Country’ during their Nashville show Thursday night. The 86-year-old country icon shared video of the performance, writing, “Now I’ve seen everything. I loved it, boys! Keep rocking and it’s good by me if you do a few more of mine. Maybe I’ll have to sing one with you sometime!”
• Alabama — Randy Owen has had a patient room at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN dedicated in his name. Owen started Country Cares, the hospital’s fundraising partnership with the country music community, in 1989. In 30 years, the foundation has raised more than $800 million.
• Hunter Hayes – says his new single ‘Heartbreak’ was inspired by his breakup with longtime girlfriend Libby Barnes. He says he approached the lyrics like a love letter he was writing to a love he had not met yet.
REDUCE, REUSE, REFILL:
If you’ve ever wondered why you pay deposit on some things like beer bottles, but don’t for other things…like say…shampoo bottles, just wait. A new shopping platform called “The Loop” aims to change the way we buy many of our products. The Loop plans to do away with disposable containers for things like ice cream, laundry detergent and yes, shampoo bottles. The plan is to have products like those delivered in reusable containers, and when you are done with them, they will be picked up at your door, washed and refilled. Tom Szaky the CEO of the New Jersey-based company likens it to going back to the days of the door-to-door milkman of the 1950s, “when you could buy the milk but the milk company owns the bottle, which you leave in the milk box to be picked up when you’re done with it.” Companies already signed on as partners include Nestle, Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo and others. They are also going to try a similar program with diapers.
(Which I don’t feel the need to hear any more details about…)
(OK, but if they do that with coffee tins, prepare for a worldwide shortage of places for dad to put his nails…)
(You know how Grandpa is always saying that they used to do things “right”? This.)

NEVER TOO OLD TO ROCK (to sleep):
It turns out that “rocking” isn’t just for babies. A pair of studies released last week showed that “rhythmic mechanosensory stimulation” — or rocking — can improve sleep. The slow, repeated movement of rocking, using mechanical rocking beds, was shown to boost deep sleep, sleep maintenance, and boost memory in test subjects. Study participants also fell asleep faster with the rocking stimulation. And once asleep, they woke up less, and spent more time in non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep. Researchers say that the studies could have positive implications in creating therapies for patients with insomnia or mood disorders, without the use of drugs.
(Which is all fine and dandy…until the bough breaks…)
(Note to self: Invest all my money in that “Adult cradle” company I saw online!)
(The problem is that you have to keep waking up to put in another quarter…)

A BOTTLE OF RED:
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this happen in a bad 70s movie, but now it appears to be real. A company known as “Ambrosia” claims they can help combat aging by injecting you with the blood of young donors. The startup, which has locations in five American cities, claims to have conducted clinical trials which showed “really positive” results, and to have treated about 150 patients. Donors range in age from 16-25, and recipients start at age 30. How much for “young plasma treatments”? $8,000 for one litre. $12,000 for two litres.
(How much to just have a teenager wipe out a skateboard and bleed on me?)
(That’s why they call it a blood “bank…”)
(Does it at least come with a lube and filter change?)

Scientists say that climate change could alter the proportion of male and female newborns, with more boys born in places where temperatures rise, and fewer boys born in places with other environmental changes, such as drought or wildfire caused by global warming.
