Bully For You!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
(***UPDATE***) ★ Bob Saget has died. TMZ first reported the comedian and actor died Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando. First responders were called to his hotel room Sunday afternoon, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 65. Saget is best known for his role of ‘Danny Tanner’ on “Full House”, alongside the likes of John Stamos and the Olsen twins. Later in his career, Saget returned to his roots as a stand-up comedian, touring with raunchy material — a stark contrast to his time as America’s dad. No cause of death has been reported.

★ “Jeopardy!” contestant Amy Schneider became the fourth champion and first woman in the game show’s nearly 6-decade run to exceed $1 million in winnings. On Friday’s episode, she raked in $42,200, bringing her total earnings to $1,019,001. In a statement, she said: “It feels amazing, it feels strange. It’s not a sum of money I ever anticipated would be associated with my name.” On Dec. 31, Schneider became the female contestant with the greatest number of consecutive wins.

★ Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire snuck into a theater to watch “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. Garfield told Entertainment Tonight that he and Maguire entered the cinema unnoticed and he “just watched with my baseball cap on and my mask.” Garfield says it was “a really beautiful thing” to share with another former big-screen Spider-Man, and the pair, along with Tom Holland, “share a very unique experience.”

★ Audrey Hepburn’s life is getting the Hollywood treatment. Rooney Mara will portray the iconic actress in an upcoming biopic. Mara will also produce the film for Apple. Details are still unknown, but Hepburn’s life is ripe for storytelling. Born in Belgium, she received a proper education and traveled between Belgium, England and the Netherlands, where she lived during World War II. It wasn’t until Hepburn landed the role of Princess Ann in the 1953’s “Roman Holiday” that her career took off, with her portrayal of the princess earning her an Oscar, a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA. She went on to star in classics like “Breakfast at Tiffany’s’, “Sabrina”, “My Fair Lady” and “Funny Face”.

★ (***Caution: language***) Dwayne Johnson may be leaving the “Fast and Furious” franchise in his rearview, but he’s already speeding ahead to a new destination: “Sesame Street”. The Rock has officially served the block’s resident cookie chomper, ‘Cookie Monster’, with a baked goods smackdown challenge. Johnson tweeted at Cookie Monster’s fuzzy pal ‘Elmo’: “Tell Cookie Monster to move it over, cuz I’m coming to Sesame Street to kick a** and eat cookies…And I’m almost all out of cookies.” C.M wasted little time responding, tweeting “Me say cookie challenge accepted.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Adele, BTS and Taylor Swift — are some of huge international pop acts responsible for a resurgence of CD sales for the first time in 17 years, according to MRC Data’s 2021 U.S. Year-End Report. CD sales were up 1.1% to 40.59 million albums sold in 2021, compared to the 40.16 million sold in 2020.
• Kanye West — Unlike the Grammys, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is moving full speed ahead with its 2-weekend affair in April, and reportedly, Ye will be headlining Sunday. He may stage another Sunday Service performance, similar to what he did on Easter 2019. Billie Eilish and Swedish House Mafia are apparently the festival’s other co-headliners.
• Sinead O’Connor – Her 17-year-old son, Shane, was found dead Friday after she reported him missing. Police say a body was found in the eastern Ireland town of Bray. She had appealed to her son on social media not to harm himself, noting that he had been hospitalized following 2 previous suicide attempts.
• David Bowie – In addition to the unveiling of “Toy” on Friday, an unreleased album from 2001 where he “revisited and re-examined” past material along with new songs, Friday also saw the release of 2 new versions of ‘Shadow Man’, the “Unplugged & Somewhat Slightly Electric” mix and an early demo of the song recorded in 1970. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4yxehmv5
• Prince — A rare promo cassette of “The Black Album” is up for sale. He had it pulled days before its scheduled 1987 release because he thought it was “evil”, and it was subsequently replaced with the pop record “Lovesexy”. RR Auction house says there are “quite possibly” only 2 copies in existence.
• Elvis Presley — A 1975 Cadillac he bought new is for sale on the auction site Car & Classic. Bidding opened Saturday, which would have been the King’s 87th birthday. He is thought to have purchased more than 200 Cadillacs in his lifetime, many of which he gave to friends and family members.
• Morgan Wallen – His “Dangerous” album finished the year as the #1 streamed album across all genres. Billboard’s year-end report shows “Dangerous: The Double Album” earned 3.2 million equivalent album units in 2021, a major record for the country star, especially considering the backlash he faced due to controversy.
• Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town — are hitting the road together on “The Bandwagon” tour. The 15-stop tour will cover 10 states plus 1 show in Canada over a 6-week run, beginning May 6 in Houston. The lone Canadian date is June 2 in Toronto. Tickets go on sale this Friday.
• Dolly Parton — Her songs have now been streamed 3 billion times. On top of that, she’s been awarded 47 new sales certifications from around the globe. In a statement, she said: “I’ve often said that my songs are like my children, and I expect them to support me later in my life. Well, it looks like they are doing just that!”
SHOOTING THE BULL
IT’LL PROBABLY COST EXTRA:
BMW has developed a car that will definitely mess with your head. Their Flow electric concept car can change colors at the press of a button, going from white to gray or black, and back again in moments. The trick isn’t actually done with paint, but with the same sort of technology used in electronic readers. The body panel surfaces have millions of tiny capsules, each one containing negatively charged white pigments and positively charged black pigments. Electric currents bring one pigment or the other to the surface, creating the different shades, and giving “the driver the ability to express different facets of their personality…and to redefine this each time they sit in their car”, according to the company. The SUV can be colored all one shade or different shades in different parts, and even the wheels can change colors. BMW hasn’t yet announced plans to bring the technology to a production vehicle.
(So much for ever finding your car in a parking lot!)
(They can make a BMW that changes color, but they still haven’t been able to make one with turn signals?)

MAKING A RUN FOR YOUR ORDER:
Financial experts say that one of the things you should keep to a minimum when trying to cut expenses is monthly subscriptions. But you’ll make want to make an exception for this: Taco Bell is rolling out what’s possibly the tastiest subscription service anyone has ever come up with: daily tacos. For $10 a month, Taco Bell customers in the US can get one taco per day for 30 consecutive days. The “Taco Lover’s Pass” initially launched in Arizona, is managed through the Taco Bell app. After signing up, the user can order a freebie once per day from a menu of taco options, including the classic crunchy taco, the spicy potato soft taco, and Doritos Locos tacos. I’m no genius, but if you were to use your taco pass each day for a month, each one would cost you about 30 cents. Now, what’s all this stuff I keep hearing about sky-high food prices?
(I have to admit, when I was in college, a taco every day would have been awesome. Now, just the thought is pretty horrifying!)
(One taco per day? Do you suppose they’d still find a way to screw that up in the drive-thru?)
(Taco Bell every day? Wow! Now they’ve got you running both ways!)

NEW GOOD NEWS:
➢ An 8-month-old dog saved an injured hiker stranded in the Croatian mountains by laying on top of him for 13 hours to keep him warm until help arrived. The Alaskan malamute, named North, was hiking with Grga Brkic when he fell and was unable to get up. The 2 other hikers with them couldn’t reach them, so they called for help. It took more than 25 first responders over 12 hours to get to the pair, stranded nearly 1,800 metres above sea level. North was uninjured, and Brkic told local media: “This little dog is a real miracle.” (And I tell my pup he’s a good boy when he doesn’t steal my dinner!)
➢ Eleven-year-old Davyon Johnson, saved 2 lives in one day. The 6th-grader from Muskogee OK noticed a schoolmate was choking, ran over to assist. Davyon wants to be an EMT, and has watched videos on the Heimlich maneuver. Using those skills, he was able to dislodge the bottle cap stuck in his schoolmate’s throat. Later, Davyon was driving with his mother when they saw smoke coming from a house. They called 911, and Davyon ran to alert people inside about the fire. An elderly woman using a walker was struggling to get out, and he guided her to safety. Davyon told a reporter: “It was “the right thing to do.”

DID YOU KNOW:
(***Caution – content***) According to folklore, you can tell the size of a man’s penis by his foot size. Or by the distance between the stretched thumb and forefinger. But according to Japanese research, a more reliable and scientifically accurate indicator of penis size is . . . the nose. In a study of 136 men, researchers measured the length of the nose from the mid-point between the eyes, and found that height, weight and all other factors measured are not correlated with penile length, and “This was the only organ that was actually correlated with penile length.”

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Bittersweet Chocolate Day”, the kind you can eat with less guilt because it has less sugar. And unlike milk chocolate or white chocolate, it doesn’t contain any milk solids.
• “Cut Your Energy Costs Day”, a day to help both the environment and your bottom line. So, what’s your best tip? (I removed the light bulb in the fridge…until my wife found out!)
• “Houseplant Appreciation Day”, a day to salute their therapeutic value in lifting your mood and outlook. And if you’re a gardener, they give you an opportunity to play in the dirt until Spring arrives in the seemingly far, far, distant future. (No, thanks. I already take care of a few things that sit around the house all day doing nothing. Teenagers.)
• “Peculiar People Day”, to celebrate the leaders of the strange and unusual, those who refuse to succumb to the world’s idea of what is normal. Which is great until you find out that they mean YOU! (***A good day to have listeners call in stories about the extraordinary, unusual, strange, odd, uncommon, intriguing, different, abnormal, and quirky people they know***)
• “Save the Eagles Day”, some species of eagles are on the endangered list. But thanks to the work of scientists and the public, although still “protected”, the Bald Eagle was removed from the endangered list in 2007.
• “Oysters Rockefeller Day”, consists of oysters on the half-shell that have been topped with a rich sauce of butter, parsley and other green herbs, and bread crumbs, then baked or broiled. Lemon wedges are the typical garnish. After its invention in 1889, the dish was named after John D. Rockefeller, the then-wealthiest American, for its extreme “richness”.
• “Clean Off Your Desk Day”, an unofficial observance on the 2nd Monday of January, encouraging you to organize your office desk or cubicle. Why bother? It’s said that a clean and organized workspace can ‘inspire a sense of serenity’. (Plus, it’s good to actually see your desk at least once per year…)
