BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Jessica Simpson is the latest celebrity to learn the hard way that you can’t post a photo of yourself that you don’t own. According to a lawsuit, the paparazzi agency Splash News and Picture Agency (one of the biggest in the business) is suing Simpson over a photo she posted to social media last year. The agency claims Simpson took the image from them without permission, edited out their copyright information, and posted the pic to her Instagram and Twitter accounts. The photo now seems to be deleted from both places.
(Kinda weird, though, that they can take pics of her without her permission, own them, publish them, and sell them!)

★ Another beloved comedy series is coming back. CBS has given a 13-episode series order to ‘Murphy Brown’, a revival of the 1988 sitcom with its creator Diane English and star Candice Bergen both set to return. Bergen will reprise her role as the famous investigative journalist and TV anchor at the FYI network, as Murphy Brown returns to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate. Word is that talks are underway with other original cast members to return.

★ James Corden wants to go to Prince Harry’s bachelor party. The ‘Late Late Show’ host insists it is unlikely he’d be invited to Harry’s upcoming wedding to Meghan Markle, but he’d love to be a part of the prince’s final celebrations before becoming a married man. According to Corden, ”I just want to go on the bachelor party. That’s all I’m looking forward to. He’s gonna have a hell of a bachelor party.”

★ The mother of stuntman John Berncker, who fell to his death on the set of “The Walking Dead” in Georgia in July, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against AMC, saying the show’s low budget led to inadequate safety precautions and her son’s death. In a statement, Susan Bernecker said, “My goal is to do everything I can to protect other stunt performers and to ensure their safety on the set in the future.”

★ Several TV writers and actors have anonymously shared their salary information in a push for equal pay. A Google docs named “TV WRITERS SALARY” is spreading through social media as Hollywood continues to grapple with the realities of the ongoing wage gap debate. In addition to salary, the doc is requesting information including gender, race, and network.

★ “Storm Chasers” star Joel Taylor has died while vacationing aboard a cruise ship. Sources say that Taylor was found unresponsive in his cabin on Tuesday while onboard the Royal Caribbean ship, ‘Harmony of the Seas’. The ship left Ft. Lauderdale, FL on Saturday for a week-long voyage. His cause of death of death is unclear and his body is undergoing an autopsy in Puerto Rico. Joel Taylor was 38.

• Elton John – has announced the ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ world tour to mark his retirement from touring. The plan is to play about 300 shows across the globe over the next three years.
• Led Zeppelin – has announced the reissue of their 2003 live album ‘How the West Was Won’. The remastered album is coming in a variety of formats, including vinyl for the first time. It is the first major release of their 2018 50th anniversary celebrations.
• Jack White – The former White Stripes leader, who opened a vinyl record pressing plant in his home town of Detroit last year, is making his shows a no-smartphone-zone, providing special pouches in which fans must zip up their phones during his concerts.
• 50 Cent – After emerging from bankruptcy a year ago, he’s now getting rich…thanks to bitcoin. In 2014, he released his “Animal Ambition” album, and accepted cryptocurrency as a form of payment. The 700 bitcoins he received as payment are now valued at $7-8.5 million.
• ‘NSYNC – their fans may have to say “Bye Bye Bye” to dreams of a Super Bowl reunion. Although Justin Timberlake will headline the Feb. 4 halftime performance, former bandmate Joey Fatone has shut down rumors of a regrouping.
• Eminem – his half-brother now shares his last name. Nathan Kane Samra has been granted a name change to Nathan Kane Mathers. Nathan is an aspiring rapper just like his big bro, and traveled with the “Up In Smoke” tour in 2000. (Will he be called ‘Enimem’?)
• Flavor Flav – was on the receiving end of a beatdown at a Las Vegas casino. Flav told police that the suspect accused him of somehow disrespecting his mother, and then started swinging. He was also kicked while on the ground.
• Demi Lovato – is partnering with CAST Centers to bring free mental health sessions to each of her upcoming tour dates. She did the same thing last summer.
• Chris Stapleton – he and Emmylou Harris will sing together on the Grammys. What song they will collaborate on has not been revealed.
• Brothers Osborne – have announced their sophomore album ‘Port Saint Joe’ is due out on April 20.
It will feature 10 songs, all co-written by John and TJ Osborne. John says it “is a sonic representation of who we’ve become not only as a band but as people.”

BS NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
• A Nigerian woman who commented on an acquaintance’s Facebook plea for a partner ended up marrying him a week later. When Chidimma Amedu decided it was to find a wife, he posted an ‘ad’ on Facebook, asking all women interested in becoming his wife to reply to his post. Sophy Ijeoma was apparently interested. (We’re guessing that maybe she was the only one who replied?)
• Here’s an app with a different twist: “Die With Me,” is a chat app that can only be used when your smartphone has 5% or less battery remaining. The idea is to allow total strangers with a low battery to chat as they wait for their phone to shut off completely. Or, as the developers so poetically put it, to “die together in a chatroom on your way to offline peace.” (Thing is, that last 2% lasts forever sometimes!)
• A veterinary clinic in Ireland posted a job opening on its website seeking a “crazy cat person” to join the staff as a professional “cat cuddler.” The Just Cats Veterinary Clinic’s ad reads in part: “Does cattitude come naturally to you? Have you counted kittens before you go asleep? Do you feed the stray cats in your locality? Does petting cats make you feel warm and fuzzy?” (Oh, yeah, and are you OK with scooping lots of poop?)
