100% Grade A Bull!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ A Change.org petition is calling for the firing of Wendy Williams following her controversial statements about Joaquin Phoenix’s physical appearance. Created by an outraged viewer shortly after Williams seemingly mocked those with cleft lips and palates on her Jan. 7th show, the petition calls for Williams to “be banned from daytime TV”, and has already been signed by tens of thousands of people. Williams has since apologized for the comments, and announced on Twitter that “The Wendy Williams Show” has made donations to both “Operation Smile” and the “American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association”, while also encouraging viewers of the series “to learn more and help support the cleft community.”

★ Dog The Bounty Hunter says he still hopes to clear his name of a murder conviction that saw him jailed when he was younger. He was convicted after a drug deal went bad and his accomplice shot and killed 69-year-old Jerry Oliver in 1976. But despite the fact he was waiting in the car at the time and played no part in the shooting, under Texas law, Dog was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to five years in prison. To this day, he is not allowed to enter the UK, and his conviction is also the reason he always used a taser or bear spray in his show, rather than firearms.

★ Jennifer Aniston has played a variety of roles throughout her decades-long career — but there’s one she still wishes she’d thrown her hat in the ring for. She told reporters at the 2020 SAG Awards that one of the things she’s always wanted to do is suit up as ‘Wonder Woman’. Anniston said, quote: “I wanted to be Wonder Woman, but I waited too long.” The super hero was most recently portrayed by Gal Gadot in the 2017 film of the same name, with a sequel expected this June.

★ Robert Downey Jr.’s first post-Avengers movie, a re-imagining of the “Dr. Dolittle” series–has come up short at the box office — bigtime. The movie had a reported budget of $175 million, and now a report claims that after a 4-day domestic opening weekend take of $30 million, the film could end up losing $100 million for Universal. That would be an even bigger loss than Universal’s other recent flop, December’s, “Cats,” which became joke fodder in online film circles, but with a smaller budget of around $90 million, it is estimated to “only” lose about $70 million.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Billie Eilish – says she is ”freaked out” about her upcoming Apple TV+ documentary. She signed a reported $24.7 million deal for cameras to document her rise to stardom after the release of her debut album, granting the director access to her family life and behind-the-scenes of her public appearances. Quote: “Who has that much footage of them that they’ve never seen? I’m terrified.”
• Miley Cyrus — paid tribute to her godmother Dolly Parton on her 74th birthday Sunday by sharing three hilarious clips of her doing her best Dolly impression, with the caption: “Happy Birthday Aunt Dolly!!!!!” The clips were from a 2017 episode of “The Tonight Show” where Cyrus and Jimmy Fallon dressed as Dolly and Kenny Rogers.
• Prince — A wrongful death lawsuit filed by his family members has been quietly dismissed. This suggests settlements have been reached with defendants including the doctor who saw Prince in the weeks before his death, and the hospital that treated him for an opioid overdose seven days before he died in April, 2016.
• Queen — have become the first band to be commemorated on a British coin thanks to a series of collectables released by the Royal Mint this week. The coins, which are not legal tender, are presented in options, from £13 (US $16.89) for a £5 coin to a one-once gold proof coin, retailing at £2,020 ($2,625).
• AC/DC – An Australian radio personality says he’s heard that the group is close to announcing a world tour. It will apparently include singer Brian Johnson, who was forced to leave the band mid-tour nearly four years ago due to hearing loss. Eddie McGuire also says there will be a new album “this year”.
• Big Wreck, Headstones, Moist and the Tea Party – have announced the “Saints and Sinners 2020 Tour,” kicking off in Penticton, BC, on June 26. It will head east across Canada, with a final show in St. John’s, NL on July 30. Tickets go on sale this Friday.
• Radiohead – are giving fans access to a vast archive of their material with the revamp of their official website. Fans can register to create their own “library card”, which will allow them to access a curated archive of the band’s back catalogue and a selection of artifacts associated with each album.
• Brandi Carlile – will be performing with Tanya Tucker at the Grammys on Sunday. Tucker wrote on Instagram: “I’ll be performing at the Grammys this year with a whole lineup of amazing artists, including one of my favorite people in the whole world, Brandi Carlile.” Tucker has four Grammy nominations, Carlile has five.
• Ashley McBryde — will drop her sophomore album, “Never Will”, on April 3. It will include 11 songs, including the lead single ‘One Night Standards’ and the newly released track ‘Martha Divine’.

GETTING PLANTED:
It seems that people want to do what they can to save the planet these days…even after they’ve passed on. A company called Capsula Mundi is experimenting with a unique burial method that effectively turns dead bodies into a tree. The deceased person is be placed into a specially made egg-shaped pod, which will act as a seed. The pod is then buried with a tree on top of it. Because the pod is made from a starch plastic, it is 100% biodegradable and will breakdown by itself in the ground. The body inside will also start to decay and transform into nutrients, which will, in turn, be absorbed by the tree roots. Not only would these “funeral pods” replace today’s caskets, they would also transform the look of today’s cemetery. Rather than lines of gravestones, in the future, we could all be a part of a vibrant memorial forest.
(Boy! Talk about a “Family Tree”!!)
(Please tell me that dogs won’t be allowed!)
(Great idea, but quite an undertaking…)

STAYING IN CONTACT:
A start-up company called Mojo Vision has unveiled a working prototype of what they are calling “the world’s first true smart contact lens.” And yes, it’s just what you thought: A miniaturized Augmented Reality display that you can wear in your eye. It is said that it can provide directions, sports scores or even enable the wearer to see in the dark. The manufacturer says that others can’t tell that someone is wearing one, and all interaction is performed using just the eyes. And since it’s a contact lens, the screen will still be visible even when the wearer’s eyes are closed. The miniature MicroLED display at the center of the smart lens features a pixel density of 14,000 pixels per square inch (a world record — the iPhone 11 has a pixel density of 323ppi). Mojo Vision is now working with the US Food and Drug Administration to develop a final product, aimed at the vision impaired, that complies with regulations and standards.
(Definitely something to keep an eye on…)
(Do these guys remember the “Google Glass”?)
(I don’t care how important the game is, I’m not sticking something into my eye just to find out the score!)

NAKEBOARDING:
I’m not exactly sure why we need to know this, but new research says that if you consider yourself a night-owl, you may prefer to sleep naked. The study of 2,000 Americans examined their sleeping habits and personalities in relation to whether they prefer to sleep in the buff or in jammies. Here is what they found:
➢ 38% of nude sleepers consider themselves night-owls. (38%)
➢ Pajama-wearers identify themselves as a mixture between an early-bird and night-owl.
➢ 45% of nude sleepers identify as introverts.
➢ 24% of pajama wearers say the fear of being seen in their birthday suit is one reason they don’t sleep nude.
➢ All reported washing their sheets only once per month, on average.
(I like sleeping naked. I’d just like to say that the flight attendant could have been a little more understanding, though…)
(Sleeping naked is healthy, too. Whenever I fall asleep dressed and with my shoes on, it seems I have a splitting headache in the morning!)
(Around here, it’s not a matter of being a night-owl, it’s a matter of trying to stay warm!)

DID YOU KNOW?
The adage that a rainbow contains seven colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet) is a myth. These are actually just the colors of the ‘visible spectrum’. Rainbows contain upward of one million colors, the vast majority of which are invisible to the human eye.
