July 18, 2000 Another Sheet Load! Edition: #1848
A new poll of kids reveals the things they most hate to hear their parents say. The most hated:
• “Money doesn’t grow on trees.”
• “We’ll see.”
• “Is your room clean?”
• “Because I said so.”
• “Turn down the stereo!”
• “Go ask your father.”/“Go ask your mother.”
• “Get off the phone.”
• “Eat it, it’s good for you.”
(Ask kids to call in more.)
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
TODAY country stars Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney are scheduled to face court charges over that alleged horse theft and assault on police following a Buffalo concert . . . “X-Men” just opened, but Rebecca Romijn-Stamos has reportedly already signed on for a sequel to the super hero flick . . . Britney Spears’ personal assistant and ‘best friend’ Felicia Culotta has penned the book “Britney: Every Step of the Way” which promises ‘hundreds of never- before-seen pictures’ (should have called it “Fawning Over My Boss”) . . . Madonna has left the building — selling her Miami mansion for $7.5 million (more evidence South Beach is becoming passe).
TODAY’S VIDEO RELEASES:
Emily Watson stars in “Angela’s Ashes”, the story of an expatriate Irish family that attempts to escape poverty by returning home to Ireland . . . Ben Affleck in “Boiler Room”, a drama about the seamier side of Wall Street . . . “The Ninth Gate” stars Johnny Depp as a rare book dealer seeking a 17th-century book that holds the key to conjuring up Satan . . . Garry Shandling & Annette Bening in the sci-fi comedy “What Planet Are You From?”, about an alien who must find an Earth woman to have his baby in order to save his planet.
WILD ABOUT ‘HARRY’:
• “Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire” is now the fastest-selling audio book EVER, selling 180,000 cassettes and CDs the first week.
• Building block maker Lego will soon market a new line based on boy wizard ‘Harry Potter’. (If you press one really hard on your little brother’s forehead, it makes a lightning bolt.)
• YESTERDAY hundreds of fans crowded London’s Harrod’s department store for a book-signing by ‘Harry Potter’ author JK Rowling. Some camped out in line for 2 nights. (We’re so tired of Harry-mania, we’re actually looking forward to the new Pokemon movie!)
FUN WITH FOOD:
Following in the footsteps of BLUE Oreos, Heinz will introduce GREEN ketchup this fall, hoping it will appeal to those who use the most ketchup — kids! Apparently one of the product’s main attractions is it turns teeth green. (Seems [your co-host] got an advance sample.)
I LOVE YOU WARTS & ALL:
A new study from France’s Association of Dermatologists shows that women who have warts and moles have a better chance of a happy marriage. In fact, they’re 41% more likely to have a satisfying relationship. Furthermore, the more warts and moles a woman has, the less likely she is to ever divorce. (So how come Richard Gere dumped Cindy Crawford and her big honkin’ mole?)

BS PHONE STARTER:
“What‘s the question you SHOULD have asked your spouse before you got married?”
BS BRAIN BUSTER:
Over the side of a boat floating in a harbor there hangs a rope ladder containing 10 rungs. Each rung is 1 foot from the next one and the bottom rung is resting on the surface of the water. The tide rises at a rate of 1 foot per hour. How long will it take the water to reach the top rung? (ANSWER: It will NEVER reach the top rung because the boat will rise with the tide.)
BS TAG LINE:
Chicken – the only animal you eat before they’re born and after they’re dead.
