You’re Up to Your Eyeballs in Sheet!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Pottery Barn has announced that they will be releasing a “Friends” inspired collection including Rachel’s apothecary table that she had to convince Phoebe was an antique so she could keep it in the house. Other items in the collection include furniture, tabletop items, and accessories like a “Welcome Friends” pillow. The limited-edition collection will hit stores and online late this month to mark the show’s 25th anniversary.
(Which pretty much makes ALL this stuff antiques!)

★ Throughout the course of his 11-year career hosting his PBS show “The Joy of Painting,” Bob Ross is estimated to have painted approximately 1,143 paintings — three of the same painting per episode. So where are all those paintings now? The majority of Ross’ paintings are stored at the Virginia headquarters of Bob Ross Inc. under the watchful eye of Ross’ long-time business partner Annette Kowalski and her daughter Joan, the president of the company. Unfortunately for those interested in purchasing one of Ross’ famous oil landscapes, the Kowalskis have no intention of selling them, because, according to them, that “wasn’t really Bob’s thing.” Some have been donated to the Smithsonian Institute.

★ Every art form has its lost masterpieces. Watches are no different. Now, watch buffs can at least check off one from the most-wanted list: the Rolex GMT-Master that Marlon Brando wore in “Apocalypse Now,” a storied timepiece not seen in public since being featured in the 1979 Vietnam War epic. It turns out that it was hiding in a rather pedestrian place: a family dresser drawer. In December, the Brando Rolex will be auctioned off in New York, with a portion of the proceeds funding a new charitable foundation for children suffering abuse, hardship and neglect.

★ Get set for a fresh take on “The Flintstones”. Warner Bros. and Elizabeth Banks’ Brownstone Productions are working on a reboot of the classic cartoon. The project is only in its very early stages and no network is attached. The show is expected to feature new stories using the same “modern stone-age family” members, and aimed at an adult audience.
(That rocks!)

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Ed Sheeran – says his wife Cherry inspired his collaboration with Justin Bieber on ‘I Don’t Care’. Quote: “She was like, ‘Oh, why don’t you get Bieber? He’d be perfect for this, he just fits it.’ Sheeran says that Bieber has “one of these voices that works on anything, and he’s got personality when he sings.”
• Drake – Ticket prices for his recently announced OVO Fest 2019 in Toronto are causing some to shake their heads. Within minutes of going on sale on Friday, all tickets for the Aug 4-5 event were marked as “Official Platinum” meaning prices can fluctuate based on demand.  On the weekend, general admission tickets are being sold for $2,500 minimum. Many fans called Drake out online, claiming they were being taken advantage of.
• Cyndi Lauper – was stung on the bottom of her foot by a bee during her Hollywood Bowl concert on Friday. During the song ‘She Bop’, she stepped on the bee with her bare foot. How did she react? She simply sat down, pulled out the stinger, asked for her flip-flops, and kept on performing.
• Def Leppard – singer Joe Elliott says the band has no plans to call it quits. He says, “Health allowing, we can do this as long for as we want. That will be the plan.” This month, the band starts a cross-Canada tour before settling down for a residency at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in late August. There may be a new album next year.
• AC/DC – While rumors of Brian Johnson’s return have been running rampant for nearly a year, reports are that the group will announce a world tour on Wednesday, with Johnson resuming his position on vocals. A French website says that a new album will be released in November or December.
• Hedley – A judge ruled on Friday that singer Jacob Hoggard will stand trial on three sex-related charges involving a woman and a teenager. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm and one count of sexual interference.
• Lil Nas X – has dropped a remix of ‘Old Town Road’ that adds YouTube singer/yodeler Mason Ramsey and rapper Young Thug to the lineup. Young Thug brings in his own verse, while Ramsey, known as the “Yodeling Kid,” gets a few twanging lines towards the end. There is also a new video.
• (***CAUTION — “Hoes”***) The Band Perry — Days after they released the savage cheating revenge song ‘The Good Life’, singer Kimberly Perry’s ex, former MLB player J.P. Arencibia has issued a statement denying he was ever unfaithful to her. The song features an angry lyric that Perry says addresses an infidelity that happened to her, taunting, “You had a had a had a good life / But you gave it up for hoes.”
• Dolly Parton – A new holiday Hallmark movie is being filmed at Dollywood next month. “Christmas at Dollywood” will be a marquee event during the Hallmark Channel’s annual “Countdown to Christmas”. It will star “The Wonder Years” actress Danica McKellar, who has also appeared in other Hallmark Channel movies.

NOT SURE IF THIS IS GOING TO WORK OUT:
This week, high-end yoga pants maker Lululemon is opening a store in Chicago where shoppers can work out just like they would at a fitness studio. And if they forget their own gear, they can borrow a Lululemon outfit to ‘sweat it out’ in — and return it. With two exercise rooms, a meditation area and a cafe serving smoothies, salads and beer, the new location will offer six to 10 classes a day for $25 apiece. While one of the goals of the company might be that visitors will end up buying an unworn version of the item once the workout is over, they do point out that each garment will be washed between use. The 20,000-square-foot space is the latest attempt by a retailer to lure customers with experiences that online shopping simply can’t offer. The gym classes have been designed to appeal to men as well, and include hip-hop yoga, weight lifting and high-intensity interval training.
(Is this like the Sisterhood of the Travelling Yoga Pants…literally?)
(If they want customers to try yoga pants in real-life situations, maybe they should have a grocery store and a kids playground?)
(I remember when yoga was called Twister!)

GREY AREA:
It seems that ‘cool grey’ hair just might be the hot hair color this summer. Despite societal pressure in the past for adults of a certain age, especially women, to hide those “stray greys”, more and more are choosing to “let their silver flag fly” and stop coloring their hair. Not only that, but it appears that a lot of young people are jumping on the “grey train” as well, and dyeing their hair the exact color that so many people frantically try to hide. Pinterest searches for silver-grey highlights have increased 647 per cent in Canada since last year. And “Grombre”, a play on the traditional “ombre”, has a whopping 126 thousand Instagram followers, many of whom are seen showing off their new-found grey locks. One person wrote that she is “so proud of every woman (and man) who decides to leave their hair as it is … We are rewriting the story and seeing just how easy it can be.”
(When I was a kid, I didn’t know that women’s hair even WENT grey. I though it went straight from black or brown or blonde…to blue!)
(I earned every one of my grey hairs, even if I don’t feel like I deserve them!)
(It’s when the hair on your back starts to go grey that you should worry!)

MEDICAL FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
➢ An aspirin could save your life:  If you suspect a heart attack, take an aspirin or two. Not Ibuprofen, an actual aspirin. And get to a hospital. That aspirin might save your life.
➢ Why your head hurts (probably):  The majority of headaches are caused by either a lack of sleep or a lack of water. Consider these two factors before making a needless appointment. (As a parent of toddlers, I can think of another headache cause [or two…]).
➢ CPR is not like the movies:  When someone is not breathing by themself, begin CPR immediately AND DO NOT STOP until a medical professional arrives. CPR does not cause the patient miraculously wake up as if nothing happened. It is done to sustain vital bodily functions— like the circulation of oxygen to the brain—until the person can be transported to hospital.
➢ Doctors and nurses can handle the truth:  If you’re admitted to the hospital, don’t lie about how much you drink (or other vices). It’s safer for you and safer for them. You’re not being judged; they have safety in mind. And remember, they’ve always seen something far worse. (Oh, you know Uncle Jerry!!)
➢ Make sure an “emergency” is just that:  ‘Emergency’ means potential loss of life, limb, or eyesight. It does NOT mean inconvenience, irritation, or chronic condition. For other issues, go to urgent care. You or your insurance provider are billed a ridiculous amount of money for an ER trip. Urgent Care facilities are vastly underused. (But this splinter really hurts!!)
➢ It’s not “all in your head”:   Mental illness can be as serious as a physical one. Get treated. You wouldn’t wait to have a broken leg treated. (Unless you’re a hockey player…)

DID YOU KNOW?
Drivers in Prince Edward Island are inadvertently causing accidents by being too nice on the road. Because of a rash of accidents, police are asking drivers NOT to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. Summerside Police tweeted: “Motorists, please don’t be the ‘nice person’ who waves a driver across 2 lanes of traffic. Although you may have good intentions, this leads to collisions!” The accidents are mostly taking place at busy intersections or parking lots, when drivers in Canada’s smallest province unwittingly wave their fellow motorists into oncoming traffic.
