BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
After a quarter-century as host of “Larry King Live”, the centerpiece of CNN’s prime-time lineup, 76-year-old King has announced he’s leaving the program this Fall (speculation is his replacement may be Brit “America’s Got Talent” judge Piers Morgan) . . . 41-year-old actor Jason Bateman has now publically apologize for cutting in line in front of some 2,000 people to get the new iPhone 4 at a Hollywood outlet last Thursday (maybe should have waited until they get the thing working properly?) . . . That’s a minor phone prob compared to “Entourage” actor Jeremy Piven’s – he accidentally dropped his cell in the toilet at a sushi restaurant (what’s he doing there when a couple years back he claimed mercury poisoning from fish nearly gave him a heart attack?) . . . “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” producer Wyck Godfrey has now confirmed what everyone’s known since 2008 – stars Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart are ‘together’, something he hopes works out because they still have 2 more movies to film (it’s all about the moolah) . . . “American Idol” judge Kara Dioguardi says she’s hoping one-time show mentor Harry Connick Jr will replace Simon Cowell as her sidekick on the judging panel (Bret Michaels and former “Idol” finalist Adam Lambert have emerged as frontrunners) . . . Movie studio execs are in talks to bring Tom Cruise back for a sequel to his hit 1986 movie “Top Gun” (after recent bombs like the just-released “Knight & Day”, he just might be interested) . . . New financial rankings show that actress Jennifer Aniston out-earned ex-hubby Brad Pitt by $7 million last year, raking in a total of $27 million (neaner neaner neaner!) . . . And here’s a morning show project for you – Paramount Pictures is selecting cities for screening of the upcoming “Grease Sing-A-Long” movie (opening July 8th) based on the number of online requests (NET: http://eventful.com/competitions/grease2010).

• “American Idols Live!” – The annual Summer tour by the past season’s top 10 contestants begins in Auburn Hills MI. The 49-date trek is slated to wrap September 14th in Pittsburgh PA.
• “Countryfest (Dauphin MB) – The annual 4-day festival at Riding Mountain National Park features Blake Shelton, Kellie Pickler, Miranda Lambert, Terri Clark, and Keith Urban filling in for Brooks & Dunn since the duo’s scrapped a string of shows due to Ronnie Dunn’s sore throat.
NET: http://www.countryfest.ca
• “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC/CityTV) – Korn (“Korn III – Remember Who You Are”).
• “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” (NBC/A Channel) –  Kings of Convenience (“Declaration of Dependence”).

BS MUSIC NOTES:

• Alan Jackson – Shortly after selling his Nashville TN home for $28 million, he’s listed his Key West-style cottage in Tequesta FL for $1.275 million, the same price he paid in 2004. Don’t worry about him being homeless; he still has an 8,000-sq-ft mansion on Florida’s Jupiter Island.
• Brad Paisley – “Water” is his 13th consecutive #1 single, the 4th from his latest album “American Saturday Night”, and the 17th of his illustrious country music career.

• Neil Young – He’s announced the upcoming 3rd leg of his “Twisted Road” solo tour will concentrate on areas most affected by the BP  oil spill.
• Nickelback – The newest addition to the popular Tap Tap Revenge music game app is “Nickelback Revenge”, featuring 11 of their most popular songs.
• U2 – Bono’s private-equity business Elevation Partners has thrown another $120 million into the privately-held Facebook social networking website, thereby doubling its total investment.

TODAY’S MOVIE OPENING:

“The Last Airbender” ( PG Fantasy Adventure in 2D & 3D ): Director M Night Shyamalan’s live action adaptation of the first season of the TV series, “Avatar: The Last Airbender”, was originally to be like-titled but James Cameron’s blockbuster “Avatar” took care of that. Noah Ringer stars as a young successor to a long line of ‘Avatars’ who learns that he possesses the power to engage the ‘Fire Nation’ and hopefully end their century-long war against the ‘Water’, ‘Earth’, and ‘Air’ nations. Co-stars Jackson Rathbone (“Twilight Saga”), Dev Patel (“Slum Dog Millionaire”). It’s hoped the pic will he the beginning of a potential trilogy.

TOO STUPID FOR US TO MAKE UP:
• An ultra-powerful new handheld laser that looks like a light sabre from “Star Wars” can cause permanent eye damage and even set skin ablaze, according to its manufacturer Wicked Lasers. The Hong Kong-based company bills the new device as the ‘most dangerous laser ever created’. Called the Spyder III Pro Arctic, the new device costs about $200. (It’s all fun and games until somebody sears an eyeball at 2,500 degrees.)
– TechNewsDaily
• China’s military officers have added matchmaking to their duties now that the national government has banned troops from online dating over fears that lonely hearts might let sensitive information slip. Commanders of the 2.3 million-strong People’s Liberation Army are now studying how to help single service members find love. (Karaoke nights?)
– CNEWS
• 25-year-old French-born stripper Alizee Sery claims she danced topless on Australia’s famed Uluru rock, one of the most sacred Aboriginal sites, as a ‘tribute’ to indigenous culture. Aboriginal leaders want her booted out of the country for desecrating the landmark, but Sery insists what she did was a tribute to their culture because traditionally Aboriginal people lived naked. The video is now on YouTube. (Nude yes, but they didn’t wear cowboy hats.)
– “Sydney Morning Herald”
• Today a showdown will end at sundown when two rivals ‘draw’ on each other in the Wild West state of Nevada. Incumbent Nye County Commissioner Andrew Borasky and challenger Carl Moore Sr each received 381 votes in the GOP primary. So the county clerk will provide a deck of cards, and whoever draws the highest gets the gig. (How’d you like to be out of work because you randomly picked a deuce?)

CATS ARE JUST HUMORING US:

Cornell University animal behaviorist Nicholas Nicastro says that a cat’s meow is unusual because cats never use the sound with each other. Communication between felines usually involves only hissing, spitting and purring. Nicastro reckons that, over the course of more than 5,000 years of domestication, cats developed meows in order to speak to humans. Cats do not use words, he says (rather obviously) but communicate whole thoughts such as ‘open the tuna, ‘move over’, or ‘change the litter’. (Not to mention ‘get out of my face, bald-bodied loser’.)

MEASURED ACCEPTANCE:

According to a new Gallup report, Americans’ support for the moral acceptability of homosexual relationships has crossed the symbolic 50% threshold in 2010, while the percentage of Americans who say such relationships are immoral has dropped to 43%, the lowest in Gallup’s decade-long survey. (Good news for those celebrating Pride Week.)

CHEW YOURSELF SKINNY:

A University of Rhode Island study has found that people who chew gum in the morning consume fewer calories at lunch and don’t seem to compensate for the lower intake later in the day. One theory is that gum-chewing stimulates nerves in the jaw that are connected to the region of the brain responsible for making you feel full. An added advantage: You burn 11 calories an hour while you chew. (Your teeth will rot … but you’ll be really thin.)

A CLOSE SHAVE:

The good folks at Gillette have determined that …
• The average man spends 3,350 hours (about 140 days) of his life shaving.
• Your beard would be approximately 30 feet long if you never shaved.
• You would put on an extra pound (in hair) every 16 years if you never shaved.
• Dry beard hair is as tough as copper wire of the same thickness.
• A whisker is 70% easier to cut after being soaked 2 minutes in warm water.

DID YOU KNOW?

To increase blood flow to the brain and release hormones that relieve stress, all you need to do is … smile.
