TV network Oxygen has nabbed the syndication rights to “Glee” for reruns beginning in 2013, and the net is also developing a companion reality TV series (thereby beating what was a fresh concept deep into the ground) . . . Now we know why Lindsay Lohan’s 2007 DUI case may have been plea-bargained so quickly, TMZ reporting the cop who took custody of the cocaine found in her vehicle mistook it for a breath mint and threw it in the trash (powdered breath mints?) . . . More probs on the set of NBC-TV’s “The Office” as actress Angela Kinsey (‘Angela’) has split from husband Warren Lieberstein – who just happens to be one of the show’s writer/producers (awkward!) . . . Details about Sandra Bullock’s divorce continue to trickle in, including the fact she still plans to co-parent ex-hubby Jesse Jame’s kids (how long before she qualifies for sainthood?) . . . 25-year-old Ali Fedotowsky, the current mate-seeker on “The Bachelorette” (ABC), reportedly gets engaged on the August 2nd finalé (have these people learned nothing?) . . . French film hit “Amelie” tops a new “American Cinematographer” magazine poll of more than 17,000 film fans as the best film made between 1998 and 2008 (it’s a must-see, even with the subtitles) . . . • John Lennon – In honor of his 70th birthday this October, EMI is reissuing 8 digitally remastered solo albums, a new best-of set, and a box set called “Gimme Some Truth”.
• Kenny Chesney – Tonight and tomorrow he’s playing The Joint in Las Vegas, a venue that holds 4,000 people. Tonight’s show airs live on his web-based ‘No Shoes Radio’.
• Led Zeppelin – Folk singer Jake Holmes is suing Jimmy Page for plagiarism over the song “Dazed & Confused”, 40 years after it was released on Zep’s debut album. Even if he’s successful, he can only claim royalties and damages for the past 3 years due to the statute of limitations.
• Pink – Tonight she headlines the 2010 “Wireless Festival” in London’s Hyde Park. Alt-rock act the Ting Tings are special guests.
• Rascal Flatts – Bassist Jay DeMarcus and CMT personality Allison DeMarcus are expecting their first child in January 2011. They were wed in 2004.
• Reba McEntire – Today in NYC, she helps Norwegian Cruise Lines christen its largest-ever cruise ship, the 4,200-passenger ‘Norwegian Epic’.
• Rihanna – Sunday the 25-stop North American leg of her 3rd concert tour, “Last Girl on Earth”, kicks off in Vancouver BC. Ke$ha and Travie McCoy are the tour’s opening acts.

• “Captain America: The First Avenger” – Tommy Lee Jones has joined the cast of this Marvel comics superhero movie in the role of ‘Colonel Chester Phillips’, who recruits one ‘Steve Rogers’ to join an experimental project that leads to the creation of the ‘Super Soldier’. Chris Evans has the title role as ‘Rogers/Captain America’. The flick’s due for release in July 2011.
• “Footloose” – Julianne Hough has kept her role as ‘Ariel’ in the at-times-troubled remake of the 1984 film. The new version is expected April 2011. Newcomer Kenny Wormald, a former dancer on Justin Timberlake’s tour, has been cast as ‘Ren’, the lead character originally played by Kevin Bacon. Dennis Quaid will portray Ariel’s party-pooper pop ‘Reverend Moore’.
• “Mad Max: Fury Road” – The upcoming 4th film in the series is designed to be ‘a relaunch, a revisit, and an entire restructuring’ of the cult sci-fi series. 32-year-old Brit actor Tom Hardy takes over as ‘Max Rockatansky’, the role that made Mel Gibson a star when he played it in 3 films from 1979-85. Charlize Theron is signed to co-star. The film’s due out in 2012.
• “Sherlock Holmes 2” – Director Guy Ritchie is working on a script that will take full advantage of the sleuth sequel being filmed in 3-D. It is also thought he’s hiring some of the crew that worked on James Cameron’s “Avatar” to oversee the 3-D effects. The as-yet-untitled sequel is expected in 2011.

CONSUMER WORKOUT:
The average woman burns off 48,000 calories a year … shopping. A recent study reveals that women make about 132 shopping trips per year. That works out to an annual total of 159 hours and 56 minutes of walking at a fast pace. Men don’t seem to experience the same calorie-burning benefit because … they don’t shop as much. • “Barbecue Day”, celebrating the time-honored tradition of roasting flesh over an open flame.
