★ Spotify is urging its customers to cancel their monthly subscriptions purchased through Apple’s iTunes, as competition between the two companies intensifies. In an email, Spotify points out that Apple charges users $3 more per month at $12.99 due to iTunes’ policy of taking 30% on all payments. A monthly fee when purchased directly through Spotify is $9.99. The move comes shortly after the worldwide release of Apple’s own streaming service, Apple Music, which will also charge a $9.99 per month following a 3-month free trial.

★ 22-year-old Ariana Grande may have terminated her budding singing career with her stupid donut-licking stunt in Lake Elsinore CA. Police say they’re investigating a leaked video that appears to show her licking donuts at a Wolfee Donuts in the Southern California town. Earlier this week, Grande apologized for saying “I hate America” in the same video. A cashier at the shop says the singer didn’t buy anything she licked. Grande announced Wednesday she’s cancelled her gig at Saturday’s MLB All-Star Concert, but says it’s not related to the incident.

★ And Toronto-native Drake may soon be playing a fictionalized version of the city’s infamous former mayor Rob Ford in a video for the track “Energy”. According to a Facebook casting call, the soon-to-be-released video has Drake portraying a rotund ‘Mayor Drake Ford’, with his face digitally superimposed on a chunky body. The casting call description: “We spot Mayor Drake Ford in a parking garage with a drug dealer.” A Ford body-double was being sought for the video-shoot.

BS THINGS YOUR GUY WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND:
✗ Why there is always one smushed piece of gum at the bottom of your purse.
✗ Why you can’t get ready in 10 minutes. Or 20. Or 30.
✗ The intense and bizarre experience of wearing Spanx.
✗ Why the Kardashians are popular.
✗ Why you need more than 2 pillows on a bed.
✗ Why you need 6 different shampoos & conditioners. And why so many beauty products in general … most of them half-empty.
✗ Emojis.
✗ Why you need a purse when you could just carry keys, wallet, and phone.
✗ Why you can’t just look for a pair of jeans in your size, buy them, and be done with it.
✗ Why sitting at home watching Netflix on the couch together is not a ‘date night’.

GREATEST INVENTION EVER?
The ‘Hydro Hammock’ is where we want to be right now! The hybrid gizmo offers up the ‘bliss of a hot tub’ along with the ‘freedom of a hammock’. Genius inventor Benjamin Frederick from Ashland, Oregon has created a gas heating system that can heat water from a garden hose, draw from a lake or stream, or just heat water already in the hammock, allowing you to enjoy a warm soak while swingin’ from the trees … or whatever. The hammock has capacity for 2 people and 50 gallons (190 liters) of water. You can choose between a single-layer hammock which is more portable, or a double-layer version which is fully insulated and can even be used outdoors in Winter. The product, now fundraising on Kickstarter, will set you back $1,180.
