Can You Believe This Sheet?
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Jennifer Lawrence isn’t pretty enough to portray Sharon Tate, according to the murdered actress’ sister. Debra Tate was asked about reports that director Quentin Tarantino’s plans for a movie about Charles Manson which include either Margot Robbie or Lawrence playing pregnant Sharon Tate, who was killed by members of the Manson Family cult in 1969. Debra Tate says that while both are accomplished actors, her pick would be Robbie, because Lawrence is “not pretty enough to play Sharon. That’s a horrible thing to say, but I have my standards.”
(Not pretty enough? Probably the first time anyone has said that about JLaw!)

★ ‘The Walking Dead’ showrunner Scott M. Gimple says the production is “heartbroken” by the death of stuntman John Bernecker. Production on the eighth season of the AMC show was halted after the stunt performer sustained serious injuries in a fall on the set in Atlanta on Wednesday. He later passed away. Bernecker’s family says his organs will be donated.

★ Mark Hamill has been bestowed one of Disney’s highest honors, but he still can’t believe Carrie Fisher wasn’t there to see it. Hamill and Fisher were named ‘Disney Legends’ during a ceremony Friday at the company’s biannual fan convention, the D23 Expo in Anaheim. Hamill said Fisher would have been making him laugh at the event and treating it with some irreverence. Other honorees included Oprah Winfrey and Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee.

★ Jada Pinkett Smith says she was rejected to portray her now-husband Will Smith’s girlfriend in ‘The Fresh Prince of Bell-Air’. The 45-year-old actress has revealed she was turned down by the producers of the popular US sitcom – which ran from 1990 to 1996 – because she was ”too short” to be Will Smith’s on-screen girlfriend.
(Oh, well, ‘Smell Ya Later’!)

★ After an exhaustive search for the right person to take on the role of ‘Aladdin’ in the upcoming live-action version of the story, Disney has announced that Mena Massoud has been selected. Massoud will star alongside ‘Power Rangers’ star Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and A-lister Will Smith as the Genie. No reveal has yet been made as to who’ll be taking on the villain of the film, Jafar, but British actor Tom Hardy is supposedly a frontrunner. ‘Aladdin’ is set to hit movie theatres on March 29, 2019, and with filming slated to begin this month, the release date was in some jeopardy.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Solange Knowles – ignored doctor’s orders to perform at London’s Lovebox Festival on Friday. She told her audience at the Noisey tent that she ”broke out of hospital” after three days to make the festival because she wanted to feel the ”love”.
• One Direction – Louis Tomlinson has a new solo deal. He has already signed a solo deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco and with RCA in the US, but he has now confirmed he has a brand new contract with the record label, which is home to the likes of Fifth Harmony, Drake and Nicole Scherzinger. (How many more of these guys are there?)
• Miley Cyrus – has said goodbye to her tongue-wagging, twerking days. She has decided to tone down her image after her sometimes shocking antics left her feeling exploited. (You don’t say?)
• Demi Lovato – has weighed in on the Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight. She says that McGregor might be crazy enough to win. Quote: “Here’s the thing, Floyd is obviously a boxer and he’s obviously very very good at it, but Conor’s crazy.” (Did you see their promo tour? They’re BOTH crazy!)
• Sebastian Bach – the former Skid Row frontman underwent surgery Thursday, but was vague on what for. He posted that it was “singing-related” but had nothing to do with his voice or throat. (So that leaves what? The hand he uses to hold the mic?)
• Smashing Pumpkins – singer Billy Corgan has partnered with online gear marketplace ‘Reverb’ to sell equipment he used to record and tour for many Smashing Pumpkins records. Corgan will list over 100 guitars, amps and other items on the website.
• DMX – the rapper pleaded not guilty Friday in federal court in New York to 14 charges related to tax fraud. He was released after posting a $500,000 bond. According to prosecutors, he owes $1.7 million and hid millions in income from the I.R.S.
• Sheryl Crow – her next album, tentatively slated for release next year, features collaborations with Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks, Joe Walsh, Don Henley, Willie Nelson, and others.
• Guns N’ Roses – have canceled plans to visit Jerusalem after reports of violence at a holy site in the city. Activists often urge touring acts to boycott Israel because of the ongoing humanitarian conflict between the state and its Palestinian neighbor.
• Poison – country singer Lauren Alaina wants to do CMT Crossroads with them. She Tweeted the suggestion, and Poison Tweeted back, “Sounds like nothin’ but a good time!!”
• Toby Keith – his next album, ‘The Bus Songs’, will feature 12 of Keith’s more unorthodox songs, all of which were written – as the title suggests – on his tour bus. It comes out September 8.
• Shania Twain – will headline the opening ceremony of the U.S. Open on Aug. 28 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
• Dean Brody – is up for his 14th Canadian Country Music Association award for his sixth album, ‘Beautiful Freakshow’. His competition includes Meghan Patrick, High Valley, James Barker Band and Dallas Smith. The CCMAs happen September 10 in Saskatoon.
WHY WE NEVER GET INVITED ANYWHERE:
According to an etiquette expert, here are the top 10 etiquette faux pas you probably didn’t realize you are making:
✓ Never shake hands while seated. Even if you are introduced while seated, always stand.
(I did that once!)
✓ The guest of honor at any event always sits to the right of the host. (In my circles, that’s the dude who brought the booze…)
✓ If a glass has a stem, you should always hold it there and not by the cup … even if you are only drinking water. (Fortunately, most cans do not have a stem…)
✓ Soup should always be scooped away from you. (Ah! THAT’S why the Queen was scowling at me!)
✓At the end of a meal, place your napkin to the left of your plate to signify that you are done eating. (And at that point may I remove my chaw from the napkin and resume chewing?)
✓ Other than a wedding ring or religious jewelry, diamonds are only supposed to be worn after 6 p.m. (So….girls don’t have a best friend until dinnertime?)
✓ Regarding the cheek kiss, in North America, it’s one kiss, right cheek to right cheek. In Europe it can be 2 or 3, depending on the country. (And make sure you get the right set of cheeks!)
✓ Never write “Please RSVP” on an invitation. It’s redundant. Simply write RSVP. RSVP stands for répondez s’il vous plaît, which means “Please respond,” so the “please” is already included. (Or write “R, please”.)
✓ If you need to leave a room, simply say “please excuse me,” never “pardon me.” Asking for a pardon is reserved for service staff. (Or burpers. Or murderers, come to think of it…)
(You had me at ‘faux pas!)
(I always figured that as long as my pinkie is extended, I’m good!)
(I don’t know how you did on this list, but if I were a ballplayer, I’d be batting about .800!)
(My first etiquette mistake was not knowing what etiquette meant!)

NOW THIS GLOBAL WARMING THING HAS GONE TOO FAR:
Yes, a massive iceberg the size of Jamaica has broken away from western Antarctica, but when you hear about THIS, you will really understand the seriousness of global warming. It’s REALLY messing with our wine. A new study indicates that global warming is likely to not only make fancy types of wine trickier to get hold of – it’s also going to increase the price of wine across the board. Rising temperatures in winemaking countries are likely to increase the cost of labor in vineyards. According to the study, as heat rises in August, a month when a significant amount of the harvest is brought in, there’s a 15% drop in the amount of time laborers are able to work. There’s also a drop in productivity, slowing down the wine production process. How much does production drop? They found that workers who pick grapes take 2.1% more unscheduled work breaks for every additional degree of temperature. Equally concerning is the fact that increased heat is also affecting the taste of wine, damaging the quality of grapes and shortening the growing season. Previous research has found that intense heat can affect when grapes ripen, and mess with the delicate balance of sugars and acidity. Less water means smaller grapes with more tannins, causing that bitter, drying sensation you get from red wine.
(And think of how difficult it is going to be to make ICE wine!)
(If prices go way up, does that make EVERY wine a premium wine?)
(I know that if MY job were to make wine, I’d probably take a lot of unscheduled breaks, too!)

THE LATEST SUPERFOOD:
Now that some are claiming that kale and probiotics might not be all they are cracked up to be, along comes what might be the next great superfood: Bee Pollen. Yup. Bee pollen is the mixture of pollen from flowers and bee saliva that male bees not only transport back to the hive, but as they go from flower to flower they also leave some behind. This is pollination, and it’s responsible for the incredible diversity in our food supply. This pollen, which we can get at local farmers’ markets and health food stores, carries a load of health benefits for us. Bee pollen is one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. It is approximately 40 per cent protein and has dramatic benefits for our energy levels, thanks to its abundance of B vitamins. Bee pollen has anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties and is protective of the liver and supportive of the immune system. Bee pollen also has the ability to have a positive effect on the allergy response in the body. And that’s just the nutritional side: It also tastes great! Good bee pollen is rich and creamy and melts in your mouth. Bee pollen can be added to smoothies, sprinkled over cereal and oatmeal, added as a topping to pancakes and waffles, mixed into veggie and fruit salads and even sprinkled on ice cream.
(I might have known that it contains Vitamin BEE!)
(Great. Just as all the bees are dying we find that they hold the key to immortality!)
(Yes, apparently it is some of your beeswax!)
