BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Bob Odenkirk is receiving a flood of support from fans and co-stars after collapsing on the set of “Better Call Saul”. Michael McKean sent “huge love”, adding, “You got this, brother.” McKean played ‘Chuck McGill’, the brother of Odenkirk’s Better Call Saul character, ‘Jimmy’. ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic, Elijah Wood, Jon Cryer, Jason Alexander, and others also sent support to the respected actor. Odenkirk was rushed to the hospital Tuesday while shooting the “Breaking Bad” prequel series in New Mexico. It reportedly wasn’t clear whether he was conscious at the time.

★ Wentworth Miller has revealed he was diagnosed with autism a year ago, and he’s sharing his feelings about it. The “Prison Break” star said on Instagram, “This isn’t something I’d change … immediately. Being autistic is central to who I am. To everything I’ve achieved/articulated.” He did not include a picture alongside the caption, and instead posted a blank white square. The 49-year-old later explained his reasons for sharing his story, revealing he hopes to help end the stigma.

★ Pete Davidson is as surprised as you are. When it was announced that he would star in a biopic about legendary punk godfather Joey Ramone, he totally got it that some people were taken aback to hear his name above the title. Quote: “I’m still in shock that they’re letting me do this. I’m about to start music lessons and voice lessons and all this other (stuff) and it’s honestly a dream come true that they’re giving Pete a shot.” Davidson says he has also been hanging out with Johnny Ramone’s brother Leigh, and talking to everybody he can find from the Ramones’ heyday including “the whole Queens crew” from the neighborhood where the band was formed in 1974.

★ A new trailer for “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” has arrived, and it’s brought an original “Ghostbusters” character with it. Well, sort of. In the final moments of the trailer, a man’s arm can be seen moving to answer a phone before viewers hear a very familiar voice gruffly say, “We’re closed.” Apparently, Bill Murray’s ‘Dr. Peter Venkman’ works in a bookshop now, selling occult books. So at least he’s still sort of in the business. “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” hits theaters on Nov. 11. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HR-WxNVLZhQ

SHOOTING THE BULL
NOT A TYPE-O:
It’s a bad year for mosquitos in many areas, and according to one expert, there are a few things you may be doing to make it seem worse. Dan Peach, an entomologist who studies the insects in B.C. and Yukon, says that if you crack a refreshing beer while on a hike or around the campfire, well, let’s just say that will attract the bugs as easily as it will attract a freeloading neighbor. That’s right – mosquitos are drawn to the scent of alcohol. What else brings the bugs toward some people over others? The color of clothing can factor in. The darker it is, the more interested the insects will be. But much of the reason why mosquitoes are drawn to one person over another has to do with permanent features. The content of your exhaled breath can determine if the bugs want to bite you, and type O blood is the most attractive.
(Got it. So, if I’m going outside, bring along someone with type O blood…)
(Oh, no. Double-whammy. Because if I’m at a campfire…you can guess what’s on my breath!)
(“A bad year for mosquitos? Speak for yourself!”, said mosquitos everywhere…)

M’m! M’m! BETTER:
Campbell’s soup cans are getting their first re-design in 50 years. The iconic labels on the flagship product of Campbell Soup Co. will retain their famous red-and-white iconography, but the logo is receiving a “modernized scripture.” As part of this change, Campbell’s is eliminating the shadow and slightly changing its font, which is based on founder Joseph A. Campbell’s signature. The word “soup” will also be printed in a new font. The brand tweeted, “New label, same M’m! M’m! Good! taste you know and love … Look for our new design on shelves & online!” The company says it has “been on a journey to reimagine this iconic brand and appeal to new generations of consumers who are cooking at home more than ever, while still honoring our rich history.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/jskpuz2u
(As long at it still has directions on the side, I’m good with it!)
(There’s a lot more detail in the story…but that’s the condensed version…)
(Does this mean someone should update Andy Warhol’s painting?)

MAKING THE BED (LESS GROSS):
While it’s true that your bed may be the comfiest place in your home, it might also be the germiest, according to a London microbiologist. Manal Mohammed, a medical lecturer at the University of Westminster, says all the sweat, saliva, dandruff, and dead skin cells people leave behind after a night’s sleep is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a less-than-sparkly-clean bed. All these things create the perfect environment for bacteria, fungi, viruses, and even microscopic bugs to grow. And he says that some bacteria, while generally harmless to humans, could potentially be deadly if they are able to enter the body through an open wound. What should we do about it? He says the best thing to do to keep your bed clean is to wash it often – ideally every day, but at minimum every two weeks, and vacuum the mattress to remove excess allergens and dust. Don’t eat, or allow pets in bed. Airing out your sheets every morning can also be helpful. Pulling back the covers and exposing the sheets to air makes your bed a less attractive nesting spot for germs and bugs.
(That’s what my kids have been saying for years!)
(Believe me, with the temperature of my wife’s feet…I can guarantee there is no sweat in there to worry about!)
(Don’t allow pets in bed? But that’s how I keep pizza crumbs under control!)

DID YOU KNOW?
A team from the Phase Research Center in Russia says that some alien abduction stories can simply be explained by dreaming during REM sleep. The researchers gathered 152 people who claimed to have experienced a lucid dream – where the dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming – and asked them to “try to find or summon aliens or UFOs” during a usual night’s sleep at home. 75% were able to successfully experience a dream that featured extraterrestrials or some kind of alien abduction. The researchers concluded that people might spontaneously enter dreams that feature an alien abduction and then “confuse it with reality.”
