You’re Up to Your Eyeballs in Sheet!

BS WEEKEND GOSSIP:
(Because great minds discuss ideas; small ones, people.)
• West Virginia is abuzz with rumors that Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner secretly wed there SATURDAY night at the 5-star Greenbrier Resort, a 6,500-acre hideaway in the mountains near where Garner grew up. The rumor apparently began with a Wheeling WV florist, who claims Garner walked into his store SATURDAY morning and ordered a bridal bouquet and 6 more bouquets for attendants for a 9 pm wedding. (“Daily News”)

• Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes are engaged after he proposed atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris on FRIDAY. No wedding date has been set. (“E! Online”) British bookmaker Ladbrokes has posted odds of 5-1 that they’ll divorce in 2006. (Ananova) Meantime, media insiders are whispering that Tom Cruise’s recent odd behavior can be explained by the actor recently coming off his ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) medicine. (PopBitch.com)
• Actor Leonardo DiCaprio needed about a dozen stitches after an unidentified woman threw a bottle at him during a Hollywood party given by Rick Salomon (“1 Night in Paris”). (“People”) Reports say that as Leo left the bash around 4 am, a maniac woman gatecrasher lunged at his head with a beer bottle. (“News of the World”)
• Tom Hanks’ production company will make a movie about Mark Felt, the retired FBI agent recently identified as Watergate’s ‘Deep Throat’. (“Star Magazine”) Meantime, ReganMedia has bought ‘all media rights’ to runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks’ life story. (“National Enquirer”)
• CBS-TV will air a 4-hour, fact-based miniseries based on the life of Pope John Paul II. (CBC Arts & Entertainment)
• Britney Spears & Kevin Federline lost almost half the audience during the 5-week run of their reality show “Britney & Kevin: Chaotic”. While close to 4 million curious viewers tuned in for episode #1, only a little over 2 million watched the finalé. (“Access Hollywood”) Meantime, Britney claims her new song “Someday (I Will Understand)” is a ‘prophecy’ because she wrote the tune about motherhood 2 weeks before she found out she was pregnant. (Ananova)
• Michael Jackson’s family & fans – and at least 1 of the jurors who acquitted him – gathered FRIDAY night for a huge party at California’s Chumash Indian Casino that was billed as a ‘Celebration of Thanks’. MJ himself never showed. In fact, he still hasn’t appeared in public since the trial ended. (“Daily Dish”)
• Could this be the new ‘WB’? The Wayans Bros, Keenen Ivory, Damon, Shawn & Marlon, have hatched plans to open a theme park and movie studio on the site of California’s old Oakland Army Base. (World Entertainment News Network)
• Paris Hilton reportedly received 2 engagement rings and now she says she’s considering 2 weddings, one at home in America and another in fiancé Paris Latsis’ native Greece. (“Teen Hollywood”)
• And we could’ve seen this coming – Lindsay Lohan’s idiotic father Michael, who’s serving up to 4 years in NY’s Nassau County Jail after committing numerous offenses like drunk-driving and beating his own brother-in-law with a shoe, is claiming that he’s found God. The regretful 45-year-old claims he’ll turn over a new leaf when he’s released from prison by joining a ministry and doing charity work. (“WENN”)

APE ART:
TODAY a sale of ‘Modern & Contemporary Art’ at Bonhams auction house in London will feature works by Andy Warhol and Renoir, along with a collection of paintings – by a chimp. ‘Congo’ the chimpanzee, who was born in 1954, produced some 400 drawings and paintings between the ages of 2 and 4. He enjoyed little critical success despite the patronage of fellow abstract painter Pablo Picasso. 3 of Congo’s brightly colored compositions that will be sold as a single lot are expected to fetch upwards of $1,500. It’s thought to be the first-ever auction of chimp art.
– “GQ”

HORMONES TURN 100:
Rarely does a word have an official birthday, much less a centennial celebration, but TODAY medical professionals are commemorating the 100th anniversary of the word ‘hormone’. It was first introduced to the English language June 20, 1905 by Ernest Starling, a professor and physiologist at University College-London during a lecture. Endocrinologists had been trying to describe substances such as adrenaline as ‘products of the glands’ or ‘internal secretions’ for years, but none of the terms stuck. (So we can thank Ernie for the old joke that begins, “How do you make a hormone …”)
– “ Discover” magazine

AND WE QUOTE:
“The label ‘American Idol’ was not for me. I’m not a pop person. It would have been harder to play my kind of music if I had won.”  – 29-year-old “A-I” runner-up Bo Bice telling the new edition of “Rolling Stone” magazine that he’s glad he didn’t win.
