BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ John Cena is returning to the ring. During Monday night’s RAW, WWE announced that Cena would be making his eagerly anticipated return exactly 20 years after his television debut in 2002. He’ll appear on the Monday night show on June 27. Cena famously lost to Kurt Angle in his debut, but earned the respect of the WWE Universe. The actor responded to the big announcement, posting on Twitter: “Been far too long and what a special occasion to be able spend with the @WWEUniverse! Laredo, TX, C U soon!!!” In January, he said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”: “I’m not done with WWE by a long shot. That’s my home — I love it.”

★ Some of the jurors in the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard defamation case struggled to stay awake during the entire 6-week trial, according to the court stenographer. A 7-person jury sided mostly with Depp in their verdict, awarding him $15 million in damages (reduced to $10.35 million due to a state law). In a new interview with Law & Crime Network, court reporter Judy Bellinger said that a “few” of the jurors drifted asleep at points during the trial. Quote: “There were a lot of video deposition, and they would just sit there and all of a sudden I’d see their head drop.” The juror’s names will be sealed for at least one year, the judge ruled. Heard, who was awarded $2 million, plans to appear the verdict.

★ Netflix has just given the first look at “Scream 5” star Jenna Ortega in the Addams Family reboot series “Wednesday”. In the Tim Burton-created show, Ortega portrays the title character and goth culture icon. The new teaser gives fans a look at her as the main character, rocking Wednesday’s classic look, complete with dark braids. The show will follow the Addams family daughter, as she “solves mysteries using her psychic ability.” Burton will direct the series, marking his first time helming a TV show. He’s best-known for movies such as “Batman”, “Edward Scissorhands” and “Alice in Wonderland”. No word on when, except that it’s “coming soon”. LINK: https://youtu.be/G4QHrAcZalc
★ Dave Chappelle is giving back following his weekend performance in Buffalo. The comedian is making what will be a sizeable donation to the families of victims who were killed in that city’s recent mass shooting. Chappelle hit the stage Sunday at the Shea’s Performing Arts Center, and it has been confirmed that he is giving all the money from ticket sales at the 3,000-seat venue back to the Buffalo community directly affected by the May 14 tragedy. The decision to do the stand-up gig in Buffalo was last minute – Chapelle announced it on Wednesday, and tickets sold out within an hour.

The 50-year-old is famous for his advocacy of marijuana and was pictured smoking a joint as he walked the red carpet at the MTV Movie and TV Awards in 2021, but decided not to light up for the 2022 ceremony on Sunday. Why? He said: “I ain’t smoking tonight. I’m trying to abide by the law…I’ve become better.”
• Coldplay – Bruce Springsteen joined singer Chris Martin onstage in New Jersey on Sunday for performances of ‘Working on a Dream’ and ‘Dancing in the Dark’. • Kane Brown — brought his wife Katelyn onstage for his performance of the 2017 hit ‘Heaven’ in Gilford NH on Friday. SHOOTING THE BULL

THURSDAY’S COMING:
Thousands of workers in the UK are in the midst of a 4-day work week – with no cut in pay — in the largest trial of its kind. The pilot, which will last for 6 months, involves 3,300 workers spanning 70 companies, ranging from providers of financial services to a fish-and-chips restaurant. Workers will receive 100% of their pay for working only 80% of their usual week, in exchange for promising to maintain 100% productivity. The program is being run by not-for-profit 4 Day Week Global, Autonomy, a think tank, and the 4 Day Week UK Campaign in partnership with researchers from Cambridge University, Oxford University and Boston College. The researchers will measure the impact the new working pattern has on productivity levels, gender equality, the environment, as well as worker well-being.
(Our sales department has been doing this for years. The boss just doesn’t know it yet!)
(It sounds great and all, but if workers are promising to be 20% more productive on the days they do work, isn’t that an admission they’ve been dogging it 20% of the time up ‘til now?)

IT’S ABOUT iTIME:
Apple has just announced the exciting news (to people who get excited about stuff like this…) that the upcoming iOS 16 will give users the ability to edit and “unsend” messages. You’ll also have the option to mark messages as “unread”, which has been possible on rival messaging service WhatsApp for a while. Why would you want these features? During an announcement about the new iPhone update, software engineering senior VP Craig Federighi said the “unread” feature will be perfect for users who don’t have “time to respond in the moment and want to be sure to come back to a message later.” The ability to edit or unsend a text will be available for up to 15 minutes after the message is initially sent. Reaction on social media was, as you can imagine, ruthless, with one person writing: “iMessage getting an edit button will forever change screenshots of conversations.” Another posted: “I can’t wait to send a risky text then change it to a motivational scripture if she doesn’t respond in 3 minutes.”
(See? An ‘edit’ button isn’t that difficult. What are you waiting for, Twitter?)
(I wish they’d do that with email!)

BRAIN TRUST:
You’ve heard the saying that someone is “just wired that way”. Well, it turns out, when it comes to one’s political leanings, that’s exactly correct! Brain scans can actually predict which party someone supports, a new study has revealed. A team from Ohio State University found that certain “signatures” in the brain accurately line up with how someone leans politically. Scientists used state-of-the-art AI programs and other resources at the Ohio Supercomputer Center to analyze brain scans. They found strong connections between those scans and how participants answered questions gauging their political ideology on a 6-point scale — going from “very liberal” to “very conservative.” Study co-author Skyler Cranmer wrote: “The results suggest that the biological and neurological roots of political behavior run much deeper than we previously thought.”
(Deeper than he previously thought? Has this guy been paying attention at all, lately?)
(So if our brains have already decided how we’re gonna vote, does this mean political advertising is pointless – and I’ll never have to sit through another attack ad again?)

THE 5 BIGGEST MISTAKES AIRLINE PASSENGERS MAKE:
According to a flight attendant…
✗ Blocking the aisle:  When boarding, it’s polite to step into your row and allow other passengers to go by. If you need to make adjustments before sitting (such as using the overhead compartment), step in front of your seat and simply wait for a lull in traffic.
✗ Move out of the way, again: That point is also to mid-flight. When you are sitting in your seat -don’t spread out into the aisle. Flight attendants could trip, or you could get whacked by a cart (Or by the guy behind you…)
✗ Using headphones:  Of course, you can use them at times during the flight, but take them out when speaking to flight attendants. They have a lot of people to look after, so be ready when they get to your row.
✗ Not using headphones:  Definitely, you SHOULD use them when listening to music or doing other things where the sound could bother others. (You’re telling me that not everyone likes polka??)
✗ DON’T try to hand a used airsickness bag to a flight crew member:  They don’t want it, either. Place it under your seat and ask for an extra bag to wrap it in. (Because we’re pretty sure that now, the guy beside you is gonna need his, too!)

DID YOU KNOW?
A former senior software engineer at Netflix has revealed why he walked away from his $450,000 per year job, which came with unlimited paid time off. Writing in a piece for Business Insider, Michael Lin says he called it quits in May 2021, and believes he ultimately made the right decision. Why did he quit? Boredom. Lin says the “shine began to wear off” his job after about 2 years, and “The engineering work began to feel like copy and paste.” He now works for himself as an entrepreneur, and though he isn’t making near the money he did with Netflix, he writes: “I’m going to trust the process that if I do work that energizes me, good things will happen.” (For 450k a year, I’m pretty sure cutting and pasting would energize me!)
