Bully For You!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Vince Vaughn was taken to jail early Sunday after a DUI charge.  According to police, Vaughn was arrested around 4 AM Sunday in Manhattan Beach, CA — about 30 minutes south of Los Angeles.  The details of his arrest are unclear, but a source says he was stopped at a checkpoint while driving with a passenger in his car.

★ It looks like Samuel Jackson might have to simmer down a little bit when it comes to tweeting. Yes, he is known as a guy who likes to drop the odd f-bomb, both in movies like Pulp Fiction and Snakes on a Plane, and in his Twitter feed. Jackson took to Instagram to reveal to his followers that he had been informed by Twitter that he had committed a “violation.” As you may know, in recent years, Twitter has cracked down on inappropriate tweeting.
(Not sure what he said, but I bet the first half was ‘Mutha’!)

★ An L.A. auction of more than 2,000 pieces of film memorabilia including props from the “Star Wars” and “Terminator” films has taken in more than $6 million. A Harley-Davidson ridden by Arnold Schwarzenegger in “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” sold for more $480,000, while a Death Star prop used in “Return of the Jedi” sold for $240,000. A spacesuit worn by Sigourney Weaver in “Alien” fetched $192,000, while the bus used in “Speed” sold for $96,000.

★ Redmond O’Neal, the son of Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, has been charged with attempted murder, 2 counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and other offences after a series of seemingly random attacks in L.A. He allegedly left 5 men seriously injured last month in what cops are calling unprovoked violence, including stabbing a man in the side near the Venice boardwalk on May 4 and stabbing another man later that night — severely wounding his face and neck. O’Neal was arrested May 8 as a suspect of an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven. He’s been held without bail since. He has a history of drug and legal problems.

★ Rosie O’Donnell has ”reconnected” with her estranged daughter Chelsea, after it was revealed she is expecting a baby. O’Donnell has had a strained relationship with her daughter – whom she adopted as a baby with her then-wife Kelli Carpenter – for many years, but after Chelsea’s boyfriend Jacob Bourassa revealed they were expecting their first child together, Rosie is said to have reached out.

• Ariana Grande – attended Kanye West & Kid Cudi’s Kids “See Ghost” album listening party in Santa Clarita on Thursday with her boyfriend Pete Davidson. Davidson posted a photo from the event, showing the couple eating cotton candy together, with the caption, “Feel the love”.
• Mariah Carey – her former manager is selling her luxurious mansion after getting fired and she’s putting the blame for her financial ruin on Carey, who she says has not paid her millions of dollars owed for years worth of work.
• Prince – ‘New’ music is on the way. “Piano & A Microphone 1983″, an album of previously unheard music, will come out Sept. 21. It will feature nine songs, all of them showcasing Prince performing solo while playing piano. The album comes from a private rehearsal recorded at his home studio in Minnesota.
• Ozzy Osbourne – has landed a star on the Walk Of Fame at the Vegas Crocus City shopping mall in Moscow, Russia. He was there for the May 31 unveiling, and told reporters the star is “a great honor”. Robbie Williams, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Milla Jovovich, and Antonio Banderas also have plaques at the mall.
• Fleetwood Mac – former guitarist Danny Kirwan has died of unknown causes at the age of 68. He was a member of the group between 1968 and 1972, and made major songwriting and performance contributions to four of their early studio albums.
• Roger Daltrey – says his new version of Stevie Wonder’s ‘You Haven’t Done Nothing’ gave him the chance to vent his frustrations with world events: “It felt right for where we are politically around the world at the moment, because there’s so much frustration…There’s an incredible anger out there, and all it is is anger.”
• Mason Ramsey – Two months after the 11 year-old skyrocketed to stardom with the viral video of him yodeling at an Illinois Walmart, he’s taking it back to the song that started it all. On Friday, his studio recording of Hank Williams’ ‘Lovesick Blues’ was released.
• Kane Brown – says his sophomore album could feature a collaboration with Thomas Rhett. He says at this point, nothing is official, but the two have been “texting” about the idea, but “we don’t know for a fact.”
• Garth Brooks – says his next tour, to be announced July 9, will be “the biggest thing I’ve ever done on the road.” He also said of his new single, out June 18: “What we need is a damn good honky-tonk song, so that’s what we want to do … This is one of those songs I can play all day long.”

HYPOTHETICAL INTELLIGENCE:
Everywhere you go these days, you hear about “A.I.” Whether it be Google Assistant, Siri, Alexa, or even self-driving cars, it seems that science is bent on making a computer brain that is superior to our own. Well, not so fast. We may have reached peak AI. A leading expert says that artificial intelligence researchers, who have seen little recent progress toward the creation of a machine that thinks like a human, have largely halted such work in favor of applying what’s been discovered so far. Andrew Moore, dean of computer science at Carnegie-Mellon University says that while current AI is impressive in terms of speech, visualization and difficult games, it still contains “no magic.” He says that scientists have for the most part stopped trying to mirror human thinking. He points out that many in the AI community now doubt that current methods can attain what the field calls “artificial general intelligence.”
(THAT’S going to wreck a lot of future science fiction movies…)
(I just read the paper. We don’t need ANYTHING to mirror human intelligence!)
(Which is hard to believe, because I’m pretty sure that Alexa is already smarter than me!)

ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE:
Some people lift others up, and some people drag them down. And it seems that people who are successful have learned which of those people to avoid. In a study, bestselling author and speaker Thomas Corley found one common and recurring personality trait that countless millionaires and successful people avoided at all costs: Pessimists. The study found that nearly 9 out of 10 millionaires “sought to be around people who shared a positive outlook and focused on success.” Corley says that in order to be successful, a person doesn’t just have to avoid potholes, detours and dead ends. He or she must also steer clear of people putting up mental and emotional roadblocks.
(I KNEW he was gonna say that!)
(I don’t call it pessimism. I call it realism. Or is that just me?)
(The other 1 of the 10? That’s my rich friend!)

WEIRD THINGS HEALTH EXPERTS SAY WE SHOULD STOP DOING:
☞ Taking selfies: Why? It could spread head lice. Leaning in close to take a family photo or a selfie gives lice the opportunity to crawl from one scalp to another when heads touch. (So I can still take a selfie alone?)
☞ Eating too much with your partner: Why? Mealtimes have become a central part of relationships, leading to relationship weight gain (newlyweds can gain an average of four to five pounds during their first year of marriage). This trend, coupled with being less physically active makes things worse. (I eat too much no matter WHO I’m with!)
☞ Coloring your hair often: Why? It could increase your risk of breast cancer. A study found that women who frequently dye their hair increase their risk of developing breast cancer by about 14 per cent.
☞ Drinking in front of your kids: Why? Kids notice a change in their parents’ behavior even if they’ve only had a moderate amount of alcohol. And the kids reported feeling anxious, embarrassed, and worried as a result. (So I should sneak around behind their backs, same as they do to me?)
☞ Storing eggs in the fridge door: Why? It exposes the eggs to sudden temperature changes each time the door opens and closes, which will make them go rotten faster. (It also creates problems if you happen to slam it shut!)
☞ Saying “I love you” to show how you feel: Why? A study said it’s not the best way to show someone you love them. Small, non-romantic gestures such as compassion or snuggling can make people feel more loved than hearing “I love you.” (I’m just not sure how one goes about snuggling with their fishing pole…!)
☞ Blowing out birthday candles: Why? It gets bacteria on the frosting. A study found that blowing out the candles on a cake can increase the risk of getting bacteria all over that cake by 1,400 per cent. (Not to mention spit…and at a certain age….teeth!)
