★ Once again, critics won’t get to see new episodes of ‘Game of Thrones’ before the rest of us. HBO has announced that once again they won’t be releasing any episodes to journalists ahead of the seventh season’s premiere in a bid to tackle the leaking of episodes which happened with season 5 and prior. As television’s most expensive show to make, leaks are a huge deal. Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on July 16. (They prefer that the new season remain ‘unsullied’.

★ Carla Bruni is setting the record straight about Donald Trump – again. The singer and former first lady of France made headlines in 1991 when Bruni – then known as an internationally famous supermodel – was named as the reason Trump was splitting from second wife Marla Maples. The rumor was further fanned after Trump reportedly confirmed the story to the press himself. However, in a new interview, Bruni once again calls the story bogus. Quote: “Actually, the whole situation was very vague and just did not exist…so I was very surprised when he went to the press.” (Trump says, c’mon, Carla, you’re ruining my rep…”)

THE LOWDOWN ON B.O.:
The warmer it gets, the more we sweat. And the more we sweat, the more we lop-on the deodorant or other fancy scents to try to avoid giving off that dreaded ‘body-odour’ smell. But according to scientists, some people have nothing to worry about. They have absolutely no body odour. NO SMELL. Their study found that precisely 2% of the population have a gene which makes them lack the chemical in one’s armpits on which bacteria feeds and causes underarm odour. And maybe surprisingly, three-quarters of those who don’t produce underarm odour still use deodorant daily. Waste of money! Or better safe than sorry… Incidentally, how can you tell if you are one of the lucky 2%? Scientists report that if you produce ‘dry’ earwax, rather than ‘wet’ earwax, you lack the ‘b.o.’ gene….although even without that info, you probably already have a pretty good idea…
(The other way to tell is if you find yourself alone in a crowded theatre!)
(The problem is that the ones who do need to use it sometimes don’t)
(Makes you wonder what their hockey bag smells like!)

TALE OF THE TAPE:
After months of teases and questions, the highly anticipated clash between unbeaten boxing sensation Floyd Mayweather and UFC champion Conor McGregor was made official last week, setting up what’s likely to be one of the grandest spectacles in sporting history. Here are some fun facts about the August 26 match:
• Mayweather and McGregor are scheduled to meet at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, at a contracted weight of 154 pounds (super welterweight).
• Mayweather has never weighed in above 152 pounds. McGregor is the UFC Lightweight champion (155 pounds). (Gaining that extra three pounds would never be a problem for me!)
• The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds of three minutes each. McGregor is more accustomed to UFC’s 5 minute rounds. (But also only accustomed to five rounds total…)
• Traditional boxing rules will apply. If you wonder what might happen if McGregor “goes rouge” and throws a kick, knee or elbow, those MMA techniques are contractually forbidden and would result in several financial penalties. (But it would be awesome!)
• Both fighters will be randomly drug tested (both blood and urine) by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
• Fight purses for the bout will not be revealed until fight night, but all told it’s predicted that McGregor could flirt with a total payout of nearly $100 million, with Mayweather potentially receiving nearly double that amount, depending on the success of pay-per-view sales.
• Whatever McGregor earns, it’s a far cry from the $235 welfare checks he collected while living in his hometown of Dublin at this time five years ago.
• McGregor is currently a +700 betting underdog for the fight. Former pro boxer Holly Holm was a +1200 underdog when she knocked out Ronda Rousey to win the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title at UFC 193 in November 2015.
• The only people of note who have publicly predicted a Conor McGregor upset? Sylvester Stallone, Conor McGregor…and Conor McGregor’s Mom.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
“World Productivity Day” … better today than on a Monday! Start looking at your processes and seeing where waste can be cut out, set yourself a list of things to accomplish and where you think productivity is lacking, identify problem areas and start an action plan to solve it. (Then when you see all the time you’ve wasted, rush back to work and do things the way you always do, only faster!)
• “World Refugee Day”, first declared by the UN in 2001 as an expression of solidarity with Africa, which hosts the most refugees.
• “American Eagle Day”, to commemorate America’s national symbol, the Bald Eagle. In a 1784 letter to his daughter, Benjamin Franklin complained about the choice of the Bald Eagle as America’s symbol, saying he preferred … the turkey. (If they went with that, would I be wearing jeans with “Turkey” written on the label?)
• “New Identity Day”, have fun thinking about who you might want to be for a day. (See today’s phone starter)
• “Cherry Tart Day”, a lead-in to the annual National Cherry Festival held in Traverse City, Michigan. Blow your friends’ minds with this little revelation…the word ‘Maraschino’ is pronounced mara-SKEENO!
• And for those who don’t like to rock the boat, today is also “Plain Yogurt Day” and “Vanilla Milkshake Day”.
