Bully For You!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ After Kanye West and Irina Shayk were spotted together in France, there were multiple reports that the rapper and model are seeing each other. But it seems the two were an item long before their romantic getaway. In fact, one of the new couple’s prior hangout sessions happened in New York City in late April, when West was there for DMX’s celebration of life. She was spotted wearing a custom DMX memorial shirt before they became available to the general public — and the custom shirts were commissioned by the Yeezy brand, and helped raise over $1 million for DMX’s family. And West and Shayk may go back ever further than that. TMZ is reporting that Ye and Irina began seeing each other as early as March. Two more things — Kanye rapped about her in ‘Christian Dior Denim Flow’ saying, “I wanna see Irina Shayk next to Doutzen” — and she was in his music video for ‘Power’.

★ Alyssa Milano, best known for her roles on “Who’s the Boss?,” “Charmed” and “Insatiable,” has her eye on a seat in Congress. In statement, she said: “I am confirming that it is possible that I will run for office in 2024. Milano says she is possibly interested in challenging California’s 4th District Rep. Tom McClintock for his House seat, building on a tweet she floated in late May.

★ Tyler Perry is planning “A Madea Homecoming”, the 12th film in the franchise, to premiere on Netflix next year. In 2019, Perry indicated that he was retiring the character, saying: “I don’t want to be her age playing her, so it was time to shut it down and move on”. Despite that, he took to Twitter on Wednesday to make a video announcement, with the caption: “She’s back.” Perry will both write and direct the new film, in addition to starring in it.

★ Derek Hough has revealed his dream dance partner. While chatting with Kelly Clarkson on her show, he was asked who he’d return to the show as a dancer for. His answer? “I’ve always said Celine Dion.” He added that the first time he met her was during his first season of “Dancing With the Stars” Quote: “She performed and I was walking up the stairs, holding some shoes and she goes ‘Derek Hough!’ I’m like ‘Celine Dion knows my name.'”

While on the “Diary of a CEO” podcast, he was asked if he ever experienced moments of “suicidal ideation,” and replied “Yeah…And you would never have seen it. SHOOTING THE BULL
LOTION THAT’S GOOD FOR THE OCEAN – AND YOU:
A new sunscreen breakthrough promises not only to protect your skin from the sun, it also helps keep it healthy, offers amazing anti-aging effects, AND is good for the environment. Scientists have found the century-old medicine Methylene Blue, which once kept soldiers in the First and Second World Wars safe from malaria, could be the key in the future of new sunscreens. Eighty percent of today’s sunscreens use oxybenzone as a UV blocker. The problem is that stuff speeds the destruction of coral reefs when it washes off in the water. Scientists at the University of Maryland have now found that Methylene Blue, which was also used in the 1930s to treat cyanide poisoning, has remarkable anti-aging abilities when combined with Vitamin C. How? When the two antioxidants combine, they are able to repair and restore DNA damage caused by harmful sun rays. The researchers have now filed a patent application and are developing sunscreen prototypes that contain the medicine.
(I forgot to bring sunscreen last time I was at the beach. Boy, was my face red!)
(It still doesn’t beat my favorite type of sun protection – a bar!)
(U don’t want to be THAT GUY, but this totally sounds like I’m reading from a spam email…)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A Thai man spotted an injured cockroach and decided to do something about it. According to veterinarian Dr. Thanu Limpapattanawanich, a man came to him with a cockroach, which he had seen someone accidentally step on. The vet wrote on Facebook: “Emergency case last night. Someone stepped on a cockroach lying on the side of the road. Just then, a philanthropist walked past and saw it. So, he rushed to take him to the veterinary hospital. Symptoms are now 50/50”. He went on to write that he was so impressed by the man’s compassion that he did not charge for treatment. No word on whether the cockroach survived. (Of course it did. It was a shoe, not a nuclear war!)
➢ A Swiss man combined his hobbies of golf and running to set a Guinness World Record by playing 252 holes of golf in 12 hours. Jurg Randegger took to the links at Ostschweizerischen Golf Club in Niederburen, Switzerland, and played through the entire course 14 times in 12 hours to beat the previous record by 31 holes. Randegger performed the feat on foot, because use of a golf cart is banned by Guinness rules. The record attempt raised money for Special Olympics Switzerland. (And yet, somehow, I’ve still taken more shots in an afternoon than this guy did!)

DID YOU KNOW?
• Vinyl record sales soared in 2020 during the pandemic, growing 29% to $626 million and surpassing CDs in sales revenue, according to the Record Industry Association of America. Audio cassettes, of all things, are also seeing renewed interest — though still something of a novelty when it comes to overall sales. That surge in interest bodes well for Record Store Day on Saturday, when many artists release new music exclusively to indie music stores. Another RSD will be held on July 17. • Your morning bathroom ritual will go from being your favorite part of the day to an hour of panic.
