BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ “Storage Wars” star Rene Nezhoda is having a bad case of déjà vu — his store has been burglarized — again . . . and this time the crooks made off with thousands in merchandise. Nezhoda and his wife, Casey — owners of the Bargain Hunters Thrift Store featured on the show, say they were enjoying a day off on February 17 when they were notified that a couple of thieves were ransacking the San Diego area store. They made off with tons of sports memorabilia cards and other collectibles worth between $7k-$8k. The store was also hit back in May 2019, when culprits took around $2,000 worth of rare coins and caused $2,000 worth of damage.

★ San Diego Comic-Con will be holding an in-person three-day “special edition” event over Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 26-28 at the San Diego Convention Center, according to an announcement from the organization. The hope is that by the Fall, the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic will have passed and larger public gatherings will be permitted. Last year’s Comic-Con@Home featured three days of pre-taped Zoom panels, and other online content.

★ Meghan Markle’s father personally delivered a letter to Oprah Winfrey, offering up his side of the story in the family drama involving his estranged daughter. Thomas Markle, a retired Hollywood lighting director, drove to Oprah’s sprawling estate in Montecito, Calif., where he was photographed handing a security guard a personal note offering himself up for an exclusive interview, according to a report.

★ Jon Hamm, Whoopi Goldberg, Nathan Fillion and Bill Hader will guest star in the upcoming series, “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.” The stop-motion adult animated series will premiere all 10 of its episodes on May 21st. It follows the supervillain “M.O.D.O.K.” — short for the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing — and voiced by Patton Oswalt — who Marvel describes as “an egomaniacal Super Villain with a really big head and a really little body, [that] struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family.”
-TheWrap
★ SpongeBob SquarePants purists will discover a disappointing omission as they revisit the show on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video. One classic segment (half a traditional episode) has been completely removed from the catalog. The missing episode in question is “Mid-Life Crustacean,” the second part of Season 3, Episode 15. Representatives from the streaming service (formerly known as CBS All Access) did not respond to a request for comment.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello — got a scare last week when their LA house was broken into – while they were home! Police say suspects broke in through a window, then made a quick exit when they realized the couple was home — but not before grabbing the keys to Mendes’ Mercedes SUV, which they took off in. No arrests so far.
• Lewis Capaldi – has postponed all his 2021 concerts. He is taking the year off touring due to the pandemic and will spend the time finishing his new LP – the follow-up to his acclaimed debut “Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent”.
• (***Caution***) Ja Rule — sold his Fyre Festival painting for $122,000. He says he decided to auction the oil painting of the doomed festival’s logo – which was hanging in the festival’s New York office while it was being planned – because he “just wanted that energy out”. It came with a handwritten note from Ja Rule which read “F this painting”.
• Paul McCartney — is paying tribute to his late wife Linda by sharing her meat-free recipes in a new cookbook. He teamed up with his daughters Mary and Stella on “Linda McCartney’s Family Kitchen: Over 90 Plant-Based Recipes to Save the Planet and Nourish the Soul,” coming out in June. It includes Linda’s best-loved vegetarian meals, plus stories and personal photos from the family kitchen.
• Queen – Their iconic song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ has been officially certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America, representing 10 million or more in sales and stream equivalents in the United States. They are the first British band to earn the award.
• Elton John – says he’s been working on a project with…Metallica(!!). Quote: “I’ve just done something with Metallica. During this lockdown period…I haven’t been doing any Elton stuff, but I’ve been doing great stuff with other people.” No further details so far, but he could be referring to Miley Cyrus’ recent revelation that she was was working with him on a cover of Metallica’s ‘Nothing Else Matters’.
• Brett Young – He and his wife Taylor used their appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” to reveal the gender of their second child, who is due this summer. They shared the news that the new addition will be a girl, their second.
• Rascal Flatts — singer Gary LeVox is bringing his Christian faith to the fore with his debut solo single ‘The Distance’. A press release says LeVox co-wrote the song as “a first-person testimony, full of encouragement and a sense of resilience.” He has also released a video for the song, which depicts him performing “The Distance” while surrounded by nature.
• The Oak Ridge Boys — will release their latest album “Front Porch Singin’” on June 11. The 11-song project was recorded in 2020 during socially distanced studio sessions in Nashville. The lead single is the acoustic ‘Love, Light and Healing’.

SHOOTING THE BULL

FATHER FIGURE:
Look out, because the “dad-bod” is back! 75% of respondents to a survey said that they preferred the ‘soft and round male’ body type to a more toned one. The Dating.com survey also found that 20% of the 2,000 participants say that body shape does not matter at all when it came to finding a partner. And only 15% like a perfect “Barbie or Ken-like body type”. The term “dad bod” was first popularized in the mid-2010’s, when it was used to harshly critique the beach bodies of actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Chris Pratt and the non-traditionally Hollywood physiques of actors such as Jason Segel and Seth Rogan. The results of this new survey could signal a forward step for body diversity.
(I didn’t used to have a dad-bod, but it’s growing on me…)
(See, honey? It’s a ‘dad-bod’, not ‘BAD-bod’!)
(In my circle of friends, the dad-bod never left!)

NO, IT’S NOT CALLED ‘PEEPSI’:
What do you get when you cross a legendary cola brand with one of the most popular Easter treats? You get Peeps-flavored marshmallow Pepsi, of course! The Pepsi X Peeps limited-edition drink will be sold in 3-packs of 7.5 ounce mini-cans described as “a delicious new beverage that combines the crisp, refreshing taste of PEPSI cola with the pillowy-soft and sweet PEEPS® Marshmallow flavor consumers love.” The companies have also launched a social media contest for fans to post pictures of themselves doing springtime activities with Peeps chicks and bunnies by using the hashtag #HangingWithMyPEEPS and #PepsiSweepstakes on Twitter and Instagram. That gives you a chance to win a limited edition three-pack of the new soda and other prizes.
(And coming soon: Pepsi-flavored Peeps!)
(Great! Just in time for me to be grossed out at Easter!)
(It doesn’t matter at my place. When my family arrives for Easter, it’ll all be used as mix, anyway!)

PAS-TA-DAH!
While there are already at least 350 different types of pasta, a podcaster from New York decided it was time for a new one. So, he invented it. Podcaster Dan Pashman, who has no training as a chef, has come up with “cascatelli”, which he says took him 3 years of study, testing and experimentation. What’s so special about cascatelli? Its J-shape, with a bump on one side and 2 parallel ruffles on the other, ensure that it can hold “a tremendous amount of sauce”, according to its maker. For now, the new pasta is being sold exclusively through the pasta company Sfoglini. And where does one come up with a name like “cascatelli”? He says it’s from the Italian word for ‘waterfalls’, because its ruffles remind him of water waves.
PICS: https://tinyurl.com/hfuan3sx
(Frankly, I’ve never been too concerned with what pasta I’m eating. I think of it strictly as a garlic, cheese and meat sauce delivery system!)
(I’ll NEVER be able to pronounce that correctly. No, not cascatelli. Pasta.)
(At first, I thought it was named after the guy who voices Homer Simpson!)

DID YOU KNOW?
“Old person smell” is definitely a thing, and there’s a scientific explanation, according to a study in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. It’s all due to something called 2-nonenal, a chemical compound created when omega-7 fatty acids on the skin break down through oxidization. Skin starts producing more of those fatty acids as the body’s natural anti-oxidant defences start to deteriorate at around age 40. 2-nonenal is not water soluble, and therefore can stay on the skin no matter how much it is washed. (The older women in my family hide it by always having a pot of chicken soup on the stove. And the men hide it with whiskey…and by not wearing Depends!)

BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Doctors Day”, an observance dating back to 1933 that commemorates the first use of anesthetic during surgery by Dr Crawford W Long in 1842.
