BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
[***CAUTION: Preview for language***] ★ Rebel Wilson is naming names when it comes to people trying to block her upcoming memoir …or at least one name. She says Sacha Baron Cohen is the “a-hole” trying to prevent it. Last week, Wilson posted a video explaining her “no-a-holes policy” for any projects she takes on, alluding to one person in particular. In the caption, she indicated she would name that person in her upcoming memoir, “Rebel Rising.” Later, Wilson wrote that now that person “is trying to threaten me”, and “stop press coming out about my book.” Later, she wrote: “The ‘a-hole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.” The 2 starred together in the 2016 comedy “The Brothers Grimsby.” A rep for Cohen called her statements: “demonstrably false”.
-TheWrap, TMZ
★ Millie Bobby Brown’s onscreen “Stranger Things” father, Matthew Modine, will officiate her upcoming wedding to Jake Bongiovi. The 64-year-old “Full Metal Jacket” actor confirmed the news during an appearance on “Access Hollywood”. According to him, he has “one of those licenses to get people married and Millie thought it’d be great and then Jake said it would be a great idea, so I wrote the wedding vows”. The couple apparently approved what he wrote, but they still haven’t announced a wedding date.
-NYPost
★ That was quick. Kim Kardashian and Odell Beckham Jr have reportedly split up. The reality TV star and the NFL player enjoyed a 6-month romance, but according to a source quoted in MailOnline, “They’re not seeing each other anymore right now.” The split might come as a surprise to Beckham Jr, because the free agent was reportedly set on a move from Baltimore to the Kansas City Chiefs in order to be closer to KK, who is based in LA.

★ A sequel to classic Adam Sandler comedy “Happy Gilmore” may be in the making. A first draft of the script has been written, says Christopher McDonald, who played ‘Shooter McGavin’ in the original 1996 film. In a radio interview, McDonald said: “I saw Adam about 2 weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this…and he shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2.” Sources say the project will be for Netflix, where Sandler has long had a deal, though the streamer is declining comment. (We say: “Bring back Joe Flaherty’s “Jeering fan” character…jackasses!”)
-Deadline
★ ‘The Joker’ and ‘Harley Quinn’ are set to serenade audiences in “Joker: Folie à Deux,” but if, and how many of original songs will be included in the film, is still a mystery. Insiders with access to early versions of Todd Phillips’ eagerly awaited sequel to “Joker” say the movie leans heavily towards being “mostly a jukebox musical,” as it integrates at last 15 reinterpretations of “very well-known” songs. One is said to be ‘That’s Entertainment’ from the 1953 musical “The Band Wagon,” associated with Judy Garland. However, there is also the possibility of an original song or two. Warner Bros declined to comment.

SHOOTING THE BULL

BARBIELAND:
‘Barbie’ will be one of the star attractions of a newly-announced theme park. Mattel, Inc., in collaboration with Epic Resort Destinations, has announced the development of a second Mattel Adventure Park at a new entertainment resort in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Ground will be broken later this year on the new, family-friendly themed destination, slated to open in 2026. The new Mattel Adventure Park Kansas City will offer many of the attractions of the Mattel Adventure Park Glendale, Arizona, including Hot Wheels roller coasters. RESTAU-RANTS:
⇒ DoorDash has announced that it is testing a new method of fast food delivery, in partnership with Alphabet’s Wing drone delivery company. So, if you’re lucky enough to live near the Wendy’s on Franklin Street in Christianburg, Virginia, you should be able to have your square beef burgers delivered by drone. According to DoorDash, the drone delivery area covers “most homes within about 2.5 miles” of the restaurant. Drone delivery requires a roughly 2-meter-in-diameter clearing, such as a driveway, that isn’t blocked by “trees, buildings, or any other protrusive object.” Deliveries should arrive within 10-20 minutes after ordering, carried by drones that travel at around 65mph. (Wow. That IS “fast food”!)
⇒ A restaurant is offering a discount to parents of good children, according to a viral post on Reddit. The thread, in the sub-Reddit group r/mildlyinteresting, shows the cropped image of a restaurant receipt with an itemized discount line that reads “Well Behaved Kids.” The savings for the parents of the angelic darlings worked out to $6.72. The name and location of the eatery was not given, but people definitely weren’t shy about giving their 2 cents worth on the policy. One wrote: “Kids are people; they’re human beings, and not all of them are going to be ‘well-behaved’ all the time. That’s life.” Another felt “Having someone make a judgment call on every single table with kids is ridiculous.” On the other side of the booth, one Redditor supported the police, saying: “I would absolutely 100% give a massive discount to well-behaved children at my job … I cut hair.” Another chimed in: “There needs to be a discount for well-behaved adults, too.” (There is. It works like this: You end up with well-behaved kids. Booya!)

JOB WACKJOBS:
This may not come as much of a surprise to you, but nearly 3 in 5 workers believe the traditional system of working 9-5 on weekdays is outdated. A survey of 2,000 employed Americans shows that many agree that several accepted aspects of work, such as the hours (54%) and even the way employees are paid (41%), are in need of modernization. It was found that the Monday-Friday, 9-5 work week, which has been the standard for nearly a century, no longer suits the needs of 57% of respondents. And 67% believe that the usual pay period of once or twice a month is outdated. In fact, 64% of employees said they’d prefer to be paid weekly – and 19% wish they were paid daily, to better suit their financial needs.
(Same. In fact, I’d like to be paid daily AND weekly…in cash…!)
(I’d love to see how that works out when rent is due at the end of the month…!)

ALMOST-NBA TEAM NAMES:
Can you imagine if these teams wound up with the names that were being considered for them?
✪ Orlando Juice: In 1987, naming of the new team was put to a vote in the local newspaper. Of 4,300 entries, the field was narrowed to 4 names by owners: Heat, Tropics, Juice and Magic. They were all set to go with Juice, thanks to the area’s orange groves, until a team executive’s 7-year-old daughter visited Orlando, and remarked: This place is like magic.”
✪ Chicago Matadors: Original owner Dick Klein wanted the NBA team to have a name related to its meatpacking district, so the idea was to call it the Matadors. But research showed there was only one pro sports team with a 3-syllable (or longer) name. So, he picked a one-syllable name: The Bulls. The lone successful 3-syllable franchise? Montreal Canadiens.
✪ New Orleans Rougarou: In 2012, the N.O. Hornets announced a coming name change, and filed trademarks for 5 possibilities: Mosquitos, Bull Sharks, Swamp Dogs, Pelicans, and Rougarou. A what-now? A Rougarou is a mythical werewolf said to live in the swamps of New Orleans. In the end, they went with the Pelicans. (Although I bet the Rougarou logo would have been AWESOME!)
✪ Oklahoma City Wind: With just 4 months to come up with a new name after moving from Seattle, owners considered Marshalls and Bison, but ultimately decided they wanted a weather word. End result: They rejected Wind, and went with Thunder.
✪ Miami Vice: When the NBA expanded to Miami in 1987, names suggested in a fan vote included the Sharks, Barracudas, Beaches, Flamingos and the Heat, which was eventually selected. But owners almost went with another finalist, a reference to something else that Miami is known for: Vice, as in “Miami Vice”, the 1980s NBC crime drama. (And the uniforms would have had that distinctive Don Johnson pink, blue, green, peach, and fuchsia flair!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Teenagers have been scientifically confirmed to smell like…cheese and urine. Scientists in Germany have classified the chemical compounds that make us smell differently throughout our lives, starting with the ones that cause babies to smell like flowers, soap, and violet. But it’s all downhill from there: Puberty leads to the heightened presence of certain compounds that cause teenagers to give off scents of sweat, urine, sandalwood, cheese, goat, and wax (pretty much a typical locker room). The researchers got these results by sewing cotton pads into kids’ and teens’ pajama armpits, extracting the chemical compounds from the pads in the morning, and then having a trained smeller identify the scents. (And you thought YOUR job stinks!)
