Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Kate Middleton looked “happy and healthy” while visiting a local farm store in Windsor with Prince William on Saturday, according to a new report — but there are no pictures to prove it’s true. Eyewitnesses claimed to the Sun that the Prince and Princess of Wales made the stop, about a mile from her Adelaide Cottage home, after watching their 3 children play sports. One person told the publication that “Kate was out shopping with William, and she looked happy and she looked well.” Reps for the Prince and Princess of Wales didn’t immediately return a request for comment. Middleton hasn’t been seen in public since Christmas Day, save for a blurry paparazzo shot.

★ There may be more “Dune” in Jason Momoa’s future, as the actor has teased a potential return to Arrakis for “Dune 3” – should it go ahead. The “Aquaman” star was talking about a possible comeback for his character ‘Duncan Idaho’, introduced in 2021’s “Dune”. In Denis Villeneuve’s recently-released sequel “Dune: Part Two”, Duncan is notably absent, after sacrificing himself in the first film. Asked about a surprise return for his character, Momoa hinted at a special scene intended for the first film that didn’t make the final cut, but said he can’t elaborate, because he’d “get in trouble”. Quote: There was something that was really cool that went into the movie that didn’t make the first one, and it was pretty epic.” While a 3rd film hasn’t been announced, Villeneuve has teased that production is in its very early stages.

★ “Doctor Who’s” upcoming season premiere is bigger on the inside. The adventures of the 15th Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa) and his companion ‘Ruby Sunday’ (Millie Gibson) will begin streaming Friday, May 10 on Disney+. (In the UK, the season will kick off May 11 on BBC.) Showrunner Russell T Davies is promising “Monsters! Chases! Villains! Mysteries! And a terrifying secret that’s been spanning time and space for decades.” Season 14 will open with 2 new episodes, and following that, there will be a new episode every Friday.
-TVLine
★ Brad Pitt has reportedly spent $10 million on legal fees in his fight with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie over their French vineyard. The pair split in 2016, and have since been in a marathon battle over money, their 6 children and their French estate Château Miraval. Pitt is suing his ex for alleged breach of contract after she sold her share to a Russian oligarch, allegedly without Pitt’s agreement. And Page Six is quoting a source as saying he has “spent an estimated $10 million so far on lawyers’ fees”, but he doesn’t consider it wasted, because it is “all about standing up to bullies and defending his own people, principles and the truth.”
-Bang!
★ Kristen Wiig has a short answer for you if you’re holding out hope for a second “Bridesmaids” movie. She told Hollywood Reporter that “the story has ended” for her character in the romantic comedy — and a sequel is very unlikely. She said: “It’s never been a conversation” because “that story had an end, and it’s so beloved to me for 10 million reasons, and I think it’s OK to just have it exist in the world as it is.” Wiig co-wrote and appeared as maid of honor ‘Annie’ in the 2011 film.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Taylor Swift — Disney+ has shared a clip of her singing ‘I Can See You’ on Instagram. It’s one of the bonus songs on “The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version”), now available to stream on Disney+. The vid shows her in a sparkling magenta dress, playing a guitar with her name inlaid into the fretboard. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/c9zkket3
• Jonas Brothers – set an attendance record on Friday night when 75,600 fans packed the stands to see their performance at the 2024 Houston Rodeo at NRG Park – despite rainy weather. And in a nod to the traditional country-flavored nature of acts booked for the event, 2 of the Jonas’ donned traditional cowboy hats as they covered Garth Brooks’ ‘Friends in Low Places’.
• Kiss – has teamed up with Glamlite cosmetics for its first-ever makeup collection, available now. The limited-edition collection includes an eye shadow palette, mascara, black and white bases and a mirror, which all comes in a “PR box”. And don’t forget the “Lick it Up” lip kit. (How did they miss doing this until now?) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/578hc49p
• Deep Purple – will hit the stage before Alice Cooper next month when the 2 acts tour Australia, and drummer Ian Paice is good with that. Quote: There are 2 bands that are the hardest bands in the world to follow. Alice is one, because it is pure, glorious theatre with some good musicians, and Status Quo is the other one. They’ve had about 5000 hits.”
• Black Sabbath — A British pub known as the “birthplace of heavy metal” – where the group first performed in public — has been designated an important historic building after 15,000 signed a petition calling for “The Crown” and its surrounding area to be saved from redevelopment. Other bands, such as The Who, Duran Duran, Thin Lizzy and Supertramp, played there early in their careers.
• Chayce Beckham – will drop his debut album “Bad For Me”, on April 5. It’ll include his hit ‘23’, which recently scored a CMT Music Awards nomination for Breakthrough Male Video of the Year, plus ‘Mama’, which he performed on “American Idol”, ‘Drink You Off My Mind’, and the single ‘Waylon in ’75’, which he released on Friday. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5yhfxc5h
• Blake Shelton – He and Gwen Stefani have been working hard on their flower garden, but they might’ve outdone themselves this year. Stefani posted a garden tour, giving fans a peek at the colorful blooms popping up. Shelton makes several appearances in the vid, including driving his pickup truck, and pruning trees. Her caption: “Oklahoma life with u.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5627s34c
• Thomas Rhett – recently posted a hilarious story revealing how he once tried to avoid being recognized at a public beach. Long story short, he wore cowboy hat, because he doesn’t usually wear one. End result: “*5 seconds later* Random stranger from the sidewalk: hey is that thomas rhett wearing a cowboy hat?” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/58m8z5ca

SHOOTING THE BULL

CAR TUNES:
What musical artist is your absolute favorite to crank up when you’re behind the wheel? You may want to start playing the hits of artists like Drake and Ariana Grande, because new research has found that listening to them, and artists like them, can make you a better driver. A study by Autotrader tested drivers’ “hazard perception” while the music of 20 popular artists was played. Higher scores meant the participants identified and reacted to hazards faster while listening to that artist. And Drake-listeners scored 59.5 out of 75. Grande and Eminem fans tied for second place at 58.5, while Billie Eilish listeners came third with a score of 57. Ther rest of the top-10…
• BTS listeners: (tie) 56.5
• The Weeknd: (tie) 56.5
• Beyoncé: 55.5
• Foo Fighters: 55
• Harry Styles: 54.5
• The 1975: 54
Megan Thee Stallion fans scored just 37.5, below the test’s passing grade of 44.
(Rolling Stones fans would have scored even lower than Megan’s, but none of them still have a licence!)
(I don’t care HOW safe your driving is…if you put on that stinking ‘Watermelon Sugar’ song, I’m walking!)

FAMILY WAY:
A study says that married couples communicate with each other in much the same way that we talk to babies or dogs. Researchers from the University of Hungary recruited 46 couples with a dog and an infant, and studied their facial expressions and emotions while talking to their partner, child, and dog. They found that couples tend to talk to each other in “motherese,” basically “baby talk,” and use exaggerated facial expressions, just like you might when speaking to a baby. The study found that people talking to their dog exhibited similarly pronounced facial muscle movements as they would while reading a nursery rhyme to their child. The study author said that the similarities in how people speak to their baby, dog, and each other “could stem from the emotional closeness and bonding and help create a sincere and focused atmosphere when they talk.”
(Trust me, when you have that first kid, you speak to EVERYONE like they’re a baby!)
(All I can say is sometimes I WISH she spoke to me as nicely as she does the dog!)

NEW TO YOU (AND ME):
❑ You’ve heard of pale ale, now get ready for pizza ale. Colorado’s Belgium Brewing Co. has teamed up with the frozen pizza brand Tombstone to create “IP(izza)A” – you guessed it – a pizza flavored beer. Those brave enough to try it can expect “hints of “crispy crust, tangy tomato sauce, and savory herbs and spices”, followed by a “finishing pepperoni kick” when sipping on the 7% limited edition Voodoo Ranger IPA, made specifically for “the boldest of beer and pizza lovers”, according to the website. (The only time I’ve ever experience those 2 tastes together, it was moving in the opposite direction!)
❑ There’s a new hygiene product on the market that we never knew we needed: whole-body deodorant. Its makers promise it will mask odor from any part of the body, and when they say “any,” they mean “any”: armpits, groin, feet, buttocks, and any other place you may experience an “unpleasant scent event.” TV viewers in the US have been inundated with commercials touting Lume, a whole-body deodorant for women that is at the forefront of this trend. Then came Mando, for men. Next, other brands, such as Secret and Dove, quickly launched their versions, and according to reports, sales are exploding. (I just paid 9 bucks for underarm deodorant. Do I even want to know how much it’s gonna cost me to cover myself in that stuff?)

VALID BOOMER COMPLAINTS:
A Reddit thread was started with the question: “What is your ‘boomer’ opinion?” And it turns out that some complaints common to the older generation are shared by people of all ages. Here are some of the best responses…
☞ “People share way too much on social media. You don’t need to record every second of your life. Live in the moment every once in a while.”
☞ “Screw touchscreens. I want physical buttons…especially in the car when I don’t want to take my eyes off the road. Physical buttons are more accessible for people with disabilities, and they’re just generally more satisfying to push.”
☞ “TV is getting too dark and too quiet. I swear we have to turn the volume up twice as loud…to watch Yellowstone. You better believe the commercials have plenty of volume, though…” (Now, where’s my back medication, Irma?)
☞ “I hate going to concerts and seeing everyone with their phones up…recording the whole thing. What’s the point in paying for a concert ticket if you’re not going to dance or actually enjoy it?”
☞ “Paying good money for a product that doesn’t do the thing it says on the box until you install their (bleep!) app on your phone. This makes me want to start a fight.”
☞ “Music in bars is too loud! I want to find just one bar where I can talk to my friends without screaming.”
☞ “You should really put your phone down when you’re out to eat with people.”
☞ “I like CDs better than digital music. I just think they sound better, and they’re way easier to play in my car than having to screw around with an aux cord or bluetooth connection.”
☞ “Paper menus are far superior to QR codes. Half of the time, the menu won’t even load.”
☞ “Why would anyone really want a smart fridge or toaster? I don’t want the new, shiny thing. I want something that works and lasts a long time.”
☞ “I just want to speak to a real person on the telephone when I have to call a business.” (Amen!)
(I guess the headline should read: “Old man yelling a cloud is joined by the kids”!)

DID YOU KNOW?
A campaign in the UK is urging tech giants to stop autocorrecting people’s names. Research shows that 41% of the most popular recent UK baby names are routinely flagged as errors by autocorrect. “I am Not A Typo” is asking device makers to “correct autocorrect” in the name of equality. Those behind the effort said: “Our names are the most important words in our lives – part of our identity. Our children should not be ‘othered’ by the technology that is integral to their lives.” (Maybe Gwyneth Paltrow was ahead of the curve when she called her kid ‘Apple’. There’s no way that one’s gonna get auto-corrected!)

BS CHRONOMETER 03.19.24

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Spring Arrives”, the new season officially begins in the Northern Hemisphere with the Vernal Equinox today at 11:06pm EDT. It also marks the beginning of Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere, although some countries observe the meteorological beginning of Fall on March 1.
SCIENTIFIC REASONS SPRING IS THE MOST DELIGHTFUL SEASON:
– Temperatures are moderate. In many areas over the Winter, they are horrific.
– More daylight. Exposure to sunlight increases serotonin in your brain, making you feel happy.
– Animals and birds that have migrated come back, and they’re having babies everywhere.
– Trees sprout leaves. Spring leaf growth ensures a cool canopy during the hot Summer.
– Plants turn green. It’s amazing what a little sunlight, moisture and warm soil can do for them.
– Flowers bloom. Science has proven that just looking at buttercups can make you happy.
– Your pets shed their extra-thick fur, making them seem trimmer and more full of life.
– You can open your windows and allow the breeze to refresh your home.
– You get vitamins naturally. Sunlight triggers your body to produce vitamin D, for instance.
• “Let’s Laugh Day”. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases antibodies, boosting your immunity to all sorts of illness and disease. Laughing also helps relax your muscles and helps you chill out. Plus, it improves your blood pressure and decreases pain. And, laughing actually burns calories – how about that?
• “Proposal Day”, when both men & women are encouraged to pop the big question. (Make sure you record video, because if it doesn’t go viral, did it really happen?)
• “Atheist Pride Day”, an unofficial salute to non-believers. Many mark the occasion by changing their Facebook profile picture to a stylized capital ‘A’. Green is the chosen color for the day, standing for ‘natural’ as opposed to ‘supernatural’.
• “World Storytelling Day”, a global celebration of the art of oral storytelling. (You know, like when you ask your teenager where the heck they were until 2 o’clock in the morning…)
• “Chocolate Caramel Day”, an annual celebration of everything great about chocolate and caramel. (Like cavities?)
• “Poultry Day”, celebrating chicken, turkey, and other farm-raised fowl that we commonly consume. Plus, they give us eggs. (If they had a say in it, we’d celebrate by eating pork!)
• “Agriculture Day”, to recognize and celebrate agriculture for the abundance it provides. Food, clothes, and many other items we use every day are provided by agriculture. Not to mention fuel and other bioproducts.
• “Client’s Day”, a day created for the purpose of letting all of your clients know just how glad you are that they’ve chosen your company.
• “St Joseph’s Day”, the day that the swallows traditionally return to the Mission San Juan Capistrano in California, an excuse for the annual “Fiesta de las Golindrinas”. Every March 19th since 1776 (with few exceptions), the birds have come back to usher in Spring in the Southern California seaside town. Their return is now an annual tourist attraction.
