Deja Moo!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Ryan Seacrest has been accused of sexual abuse and harassment by his former E! stylist Suzie Hardy. Hardy started working as Seacrest’s personal stylist for E! News in 2007, and left in 2013. In an attorney’s letter, Hardy alleges that she was subjected to “years of unwanted sexual aggression”. Hardy also claims that her employment with E! ended after she described Seacrest’s behavior to HR.

★ Russell Crowe will auction off over 200 personal items in a lot entitled ‘The Art of Divorce’. Crow is determined to ”move forward into fresh air” following his split from Danielle Spencer in 2012, and has announced he will be selling off 227 personal artifacts to help him put their nine-year marriage behind him. Up for grabs will be items such as diamond rings, watches, guitars, movie memorabilia and fine art, as well as two motorcycles and a 2001 Mercedes which has been valued between $15,000 and $25,000. The auction is set for April 7, on what would have been Crowe and Spencer’s 15th wedding anniversary.
(When I became single, I got rid of half my stuff too, but not via auction!)

★ Patton Oswalt is honoring the completion of something near and dear to his heart: the posthumous publication of his late wife Michelle McNamara’s book. On Tuesday, Oswalt shared a touching post on Twitter: a photo of ‘I’ll Be Gone in the Dark’, the true crime book McNamara had been working on at the time of her death – sitting atop her resting place. The crime writer died unexpectedly in her sleep at age 46 in April 2016, leaving Oswalt to care for their 8-year-old daughter, Alice. Following her death, Oswalt swore he would finish the book for her. It’s now published.

★ After reports surfaced that Bobby Flay abruptly quit ‘Iron Chef Showdown’ during filming, the celebrity chef initially brushed off the incident as a joke. Now, Flay has confirmed he indeed will no longer be competing on the show. His explanation: “I’ve done over 100 Iron Chef competitions, and frankly they are exhausting. They are exhausting physically but, even moreso, they are exhausting emotionally.”

★ Ellen Degeneres reduced Jimmy Kimmel to tears by revealing she’s arranged to have a room in Los Angeles Children’s Hospital named after his son Billy, who underwent open heart surgery last year. During their onscreen chat, Ellen explained: ”Everything you’re doing on the show, you’re using your voice for good, and you’re saying a lot of important things.” Then, Ellen showed Kimmel a video of the new plaque in Billy’s honor, which was surrounded by hospital staff.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Ed Sheeran – was the biggest selling music act in the world last year. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry says his ‘Divide’ album was the top seller, and his song ‘Shape of you’ was the bestselling single. Second through fifth are Drake, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem.
• Kendrick Lamar – wants to play the villain in the sequel to ‘Black Panther’. Lamar curated and contributed to the soundtrack for the current film
• Spice Girls – Mel B has seemingly confirmed they will perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. During an appearance on ‘The Real’, she confirmed she would be in attendance at the nuptials on May 19, before also letting slip news of her expected performance alongside the rest of the girl group.
• Led Zeppelin – In celebration of their 50th anniversary, they have announced a limited edition 7″ featuring previously unreleased versions of ‘Rock And Roll’ and ‘Friends’. The 45 will be a Record Store Day exclusive, and will only be available on April 21 at independent music retailers.
• Guns N’ Roses – The reunion that brought Slash and Duff McKagan back to the lineup for the band’s wildly popular ‘Not in This Lifetime Tour’ almost also included guitarist Izzy Stradlin. GNR road manager Alan Niven says that a reunion between Stradlin and his former bandmates actually got as far as a soundcheck rehearsal during the tour, before falling apart at the last minute.
• Red Hot Chili Peppers – Flea says his ”creative spirit” nearly disappeared when he was taking prescription pain killers following an operation. He broke his arm while snowboarding and his doctor gave him a two-month prescription of Oxycontin after he underwent surgery. Flea says the drug made him depressed while easing his pain.
• Avenged Sevenfold – will headline this year’s Heavy Montreal festival, along with Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson. It takes place July 28-29. Ratt and Voivod are also on the bill. See the whole list of awesomely-named bands at www.heavymontreal.com
• Reba McEntire – Today, she will announce the major nominees for the Academy of Country Music Awards on ‘CBS This Morning’. The full list will be at www.ACMCountry.com. The ACMs are April 15.
• Scotty McCreery – admits having a #1 song is satisfying. Now that ‘Five More Minutes’ is at the top, he feels validated after being questioned as an artist following his ‘American Idol’ success. Quote: “That was just a goal of mine forever was to prove to people that (I) was a country artist. I’m a guy who’s here to stay.”

PIECE OF CAKE:
THIS could be worse! Have you ever been tempted at breakfast time by that moist, delicious piece of cake in the refrigerator? New research shows that eating it just might be good for your brain…and your waistline. A Syracuse University study shows that eating chocolate regularly can improve your memory and abstract thinking. At Tel Aviv University, another study revealed that when people ate chocolate cake every morning, it helped them in their work. And, get this: They also found that eating cake regularly might just help a person to lose weight. Apparently, researchers, who were NOT funded by Duncan Hines, found that the brain needs energy immediately when you wake up. Your body converts food and energy more efficiently in the morning, so that piece of cake is less likely to end up on the waistline. When you eat chocolate cake later in the day, the body is more likely to save it as fat reserves. It’s important to eat it before 9:00AM. Just like your stomach was telling you…
(Cake in the fridge at breakfast time? Ha! Like it stood a chance of lasting that long…)
(I’ve got a feeling that my trainer at the gym isn’t going to buy this!)
(Not don’t go and wreck it by saying it has to be ‘dark’ chocolate!)

ARTHUR’S COMING BACK, AND HE’S BRINGING EDITH WITH HIM:
You can draw inspiration from a number of sources when it comes to naming your baby: celebrities, family members, friends, you can even make up a name. But increasingly in England, parents are reaching back into the past for the classics. Like way back…to their great grandparents’ time. HuffPost UK analyzed baby name data and noticed that there are quite a few names that appeared on the most popular baby names list of today which were big in the very early 1900s. For girls, Elsie, Emily, Alice, Lily and Ivy are popular names these days, while William, Harry, George and James are big with the boys. Not showing up yet as possible ‘once-retro-now-hip’ names: Gladys, Hilda, Ethel, Herbert, and Ernest. Here are the top names in the U.K. in 1904, and where they stand now:

• Girls: • Boys
1. Mary (Currently #250) 1. William (Currently #10)
2. Florence (Currently #19) 2. John (Currently #120)
3. Doris (Currently #2,547) 3. George (Currently #3)
4. Edith (Currently #96) 4. Thomas (Currently #9)
5. Dorothy (Currently #274) 5. Arthur (Currently #30)

(I think you’ll be hearing about a lot of ‘baby Harrys’ and ‘baby Meghans’ in the next while…at least until they have a child and give IT a name!)

THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER MICROWAVE:
✗ Breast Milk: Not only does can it create scalding hot spots, but research has found that it may destroy some of breast milk’s immune-boosting proteins, particularly on high power.
✗ Chinese Takeout Containers: Metal (even small amounts, like the handles on those white containers) and microwaves don’t mix…and can be dangerous. Put the food in a bowl to warm it up. (Don’t kid yourself…just shove it all in your face!)
✗ Plastic Containers: Here’s why that’s bad: Many plastics contain estrogen-like chemicals (BPA is one) that can leach into your food when the plastic is heated. Even products labeled “BPA-free” can release estrogen-like chemicals. Use a plate.
✗ Styrofoam Containers: Styrofoam can release harmful chemicals into your food when heated. Dump the leftovers onto a glass dish covered with a paper towel instead. (If they ever tell us that paper towels aren’t safe in the microwave, I’m dead!)
✗ Certain Plates: Fancy China or metallic-trimmed bowls should be kept far from the microwave. Even if the metallic trimming is minuscule, it may still react in the microwave.
✗ Travel Mugs: Yup. Stainless steel. If it is plastic, check the bottom to see if it is microwave-safe.
✗ Cups of Water: When plain water is heated in a microwave in a ceramic or glass container for too long, the water becomes superheated. When you move the cup, the heat releases violently and erupts boiling water.
✗ Nothing: With no food or liquid to absorb the microwaves, the magnetron (which is what makes the microwave function) ends up absorbing the microwaves instead, which can damage your microwave and even start a fire.
(That’s too bad, because ‘nothing’ is about all I have left to heat my food on after this!)
(I’m guilty of all of the above. The breast milk was a mistake, honest!)
