★ Today Haim Saban, the brains behind the “Power Rangers”, is to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His buddies David Foster and Simon Cowell are saluting the Egyptian native who launched the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” in 1993. Saban’s star is the 2,605th to be unveiled on the Walk of Fame. The latest bigscreen version of “Power Rangers” opens in movie theaters this Friday.

★ Tom Cruise has been training for a “Mission: Impossible 6” sequence for a year, according to writer-director Christopher McQuarrie. It’s said to be the biggest stunt Cruise has ever done, bigger than hanging from the world’s tallest building (“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”) or dangling outside an airplane while it takes off (“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”). Filming on the new sequel co-starring Henry Cavill begins April 10th, shooting in Paris, London, and New Zealand.

★ Colin Farrell has been lined up to play FOX News correspondent & political commentator Oliver North in an upcoming Amazon TV miniseries. The untitled project focuses on the so-called ‘Iran-Contra Affair’, a scandal during US president Ronald Reagan’s administration in the mid-1980s. Amazon is currently awaiting scripts before officially greenlighting the show. It would be Farrell’s first foray into TV since appearing on Season 2 of “True Detective” in 2015.

★ And Disney World hasn’t been paying all its employees minimum wage, a labor investigation has found. Theme park employees who play ‘Mickey’ and other Disney characters have had a ‘uniform or costume expense’ deducted from their pay, causing some to earn less than the minimum. Disney World has also required employees to perform duties before and after their shifts for which they’ve not been compensated. To make amends Disney has reportedly agreed to pay out $3.8 million in back wages to 16,339 of its employees.

• Drake – His new project, “More Life”, has racked up 89.9 million streams in its 1st day on Apple Music, giving him a new world record for streams in a 24-hour period. On Spotify, the album totaled 61.3 million global streams, smashing the previous record of 56.7 million, held by Ed Sheeran’s recently released “Divide” (“÷”).
• Ed Sheeran – James Blunt has been named the opener for Sheeran’s upcoming tour of North America. The first 49 shows of the tour sold out in mere minutes over the weekend, so new dates are being added that go on sale this Friday.
• Nicki Minaj – She now has more ‘Billboard Hot 100’ hits than any other female artist. The 34-year-old has overtaken Aretha Franklin’s record of most career tracks in the history of the singles chart. Minaj now has a total of 76 mentions, 3 more than the ‘Queen of Soul’.
• One Direction – BBC Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw has revealed that his pal Harry Styles has recently recorded his debut solo album in Jamaica.
• Selena Gomez – She’s reportedly set to launch a jewelry line. According to TMZ.com the 24-year-old has filed legal documents to allow her to market the range of accessories under her own name.
• Spice Girls – Mel B is divorcing Stephen Belafonte, her husband of almost 10 years, citing irreconcilable differences. Legal documents say the couple separated at the end of December.
• Spoon – They kick off their 2017 world tour in support of the new album “Hot Thoughts” this Thursday in Sydney, Australia. They’re already expanding the North American leg of the schedule, adding a series of new dates in July, August, and September.
• Tim McGraw / Faith Hill – The country couple are releasing their first-ever joint album later this year. The 1st single from the project, “Speak To a Girl” is out tomorrow afternoon (Thursday).
